Abstract

The home industry business of cassava chips on Jogonalan, Klaten was using the manual tools in the process of slicing raw cassava. The cassava cutting machine was an alternative solution for the businessman to increase productivity in the process of producing cassava chips. This machine functions as a cassava cutting in the raw material for making chips. The purpose of this design is to plan a cassava cutting machine with a safe and efficient construction in its application. The machine design method refers to the Pahl and Beitz concept. The planning and design process into the following main phases: Planning and task clarification, conceptual design, embodiment design, and detail design. Analysis of the motion mechanism and calculation of engine elements were used to determine the power specification and capacity of the machine. The planned capacity of the cassava cutting machine is 80kg/hour with a motor power of 0.25 hp, the final rotation of 210 rpm. The results of the technical analysis on the main part of the cassava cutting show that the power capacity of the electric motor, transmission system and frame construction on the machine was safe.

Abstract

Pesona Jamur farmer groups primarily focus on producing baglog and cultivating oyster mushrooms. Currently, they are doing business development by making a food product called oyster mushroom chips. This program aims at improving the quality of processed oyster mushroom chips by applying the appropriate technology of a spinner machine equipped with a magnetic contactor. The method used were practical training and assistance in processing oyster mushroom chips then dissemination of applied technology a spinner machine to the partners. The result of this program indicated that the oyster mushroom chip product processed by the Pesona Mushroom Farmers Group has a light brown color and the shape of the mushroom chips is not crushed. Oyster mushroom chip products are of higher quality than before the training activities because they had used the correct processing technique. The taste of the chips is also more savory, coupled with the complete form of chips, which are expected to attract consumers and increase product value. The correct chip processing technique and a spinner machine can minimize the oil content in oyster mushroom chips and expired dates. The product's expiration has increased from one month to four months without preservatives.

Abstract

Salacca midrib fibers are abundant natural waste in Turi, Sleman Regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Cellulose Microfibers from the salacca midrib fiber has been isolated by mechanical treatment and successfully has good physical characteristics. Cellulose fibers with micro sizes can strengthen the bond effect between the matrix and the fiber due to the vast contact area. The method for isolated cellulose microfibers by mechanical treatment for speed rotation of 5000, 10000 and 15000 rpm. Mechanical stirrer treatment aims to fibrillation and reduces fiber dimensions because of their high rotation. The characterization by XRD, FTIR, and SEM. The XRD results showed that the mechanical stirrer treatment did not damage the crystallinity index of cellulose microfibers. The crystallinity index of the raw material is 64.3%, increased to 79.1% for the microfiber cellulose crystallinity index. Identification of functional groups using FTIR did not show changes in cellulose compounds resulting from mechanical treatment. Morphological observation of fibers by SEM shows that the diameter cellulose microfibers size obtained from salacca midrib fiber ranges 5-10 µm with 100-300 µm in length. Cellulose microfibers have potential materials as reinforcement in the micro composite and extraction into nanocellulose materials.

Abstract

The growth of the automotive industry has made the market demand for motor vehicle spare parts soar, especially motorcycles, including the demand for cylinder blocks. Procedure of this research was carried out to analyze the product of 4 stroke motor cylinder block castings, which include; manufacture of casting product designs, manufacture of gating systems and riser systems. Results and Discussion based on the results of the shrinkage simulation test that has been carried out through the type of sand casting casting with the casting material, namely FCD-600-3 cast iron (1290oC) and the impression material used is silica sand (20oC) with a gravity casting type of casting, it can be concluded  that the results of design testing 1 (one) obtained a filling velocity of 1.111 m/s, with a filling time of 3.8 seconds and a required solidification time of 6 minutes.  In design 1 (one) there is a shrinkage defect due to shrinkage located on the sprue and riser of 0.336%.  While the test results from design 2 (two) obtained a filling velocity of 1.09 m/s, with a filling time of 3.9 seconds and a required solidification time of 5 minutes.  In design 2 (two) there is a shrinkage defect due to shrinkage located on the riser and in the cast product of 0.404%.  The conclusion of the test results on both designs, it was found that design 1 (one) is the most optimal design for cylinder block casting planning.

Abstract

Keberhasilan suatu usaha peternakan dapat dicapai melalui bibit, pakan dan manajemen. Rendahnya produktivitas kambing perah di KPP. Pangestu menjadi masalah utama usaha peternakan tersebut. Peternakan KPP. Pangestu memiliki ternak kambing sebanyak 1300 kambing perah. Tujuan dari pengabdian kolaboratif-UMY ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan kepada peternak dalam manajemen kambing perah yang baik sehingga produksi susu dapat meningkat. Penyuluhan merupakan salah satu metode untuk memberikan wawasan pengetahuan bagi peternak tentang pentingnya penambahan nutrisi pada pakan ternak ruminansia. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adanya peningkatan produksi susu dari 300 menjadi 450 lt/hari

Abstract

Proses-proses penting dalam memproduksi baglog jamur yaitu pemilihan bibit yang unggul, komposisi nutrisi, sterilisasi baglog dalam pembuatan media tanam dan proses inokulasi serta inkubasi. Penerapan teknologi pada proses sterilisasi yang dilakukan kelompok tani pesona jamur masih tergolong sangat sederhana, yaitu menggunakan boiler dari drum bekas. Permasalahan yang saat ini sedang dialami mitra yaitu pada proses sterilisasi baglog jamur yang memakan waktu lama sehingga kurang efisien. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu merancang desain dan membuat boiler dengan pipa pemanas dan kontrol tekanan sehingga jumlah uap yang dihasilkan lebih banyak dan stabil. Metode yang digunakan yaitu: 1) observasi ke mitra, 2) perhitungan dan desain alat, 3) fabrikasi boiler. Boiler dengan pipa pemanas yang diterapkan ke mitra kelompok Tani Pesona mampu meningkatkan jumlah pemanasan pada baglog jamur dari 1400 hingga 1700 baglog jamur. Waktu pemanasan pada ruang steamer lebih cepat 1 jam dari boiler dari drum bekas. Produktivitas jamur meningkat akibat efesiensi waktu dan peningkatan jumlah baglog jamur yang di sterilisasi.

Abstract

The Djawadi blacksmiths are one of the groups of blacksmith craftsmen who are still productive and surviving amidst the youth's declining interest in continuing the business, which is the local wisdom of Gilangharjo Village. The priority problem currently being experienced by Djawadi blacksmiths is in the field of production. The forging work process at Djawadi blacksmith still uses simple equipment and has yet to apply science and technology or appropriate technology. The furnace is now made from concrete with an open design, making the combustion process less effective and causing air pollution. The aim of this activity is the modernization of environmentally friendly stoves. The method is carried out by designing a furnace with a closed system and considering ergonomic aspects. The results of the activity are the dissemination of environmentally friendly furnaces with a dust filtration system equipped with centrifugal fans and blowers.

Abstract

Implementing new and renewable energy (EBT) in Vocational High Schools can support the green school program. EBT is clean energy and clean technology that can be applied in the context of realizing a green school. Vocational High Schools whose curriculum is more inclined towards a practice that provides a more significant portion of skills to students, so skills are needed in technology, especially those related to EBT. Solar Power Plant (PLTS) is one of the EBTs that is easy to apply in green school-based vocational schools. Vocational High School 2 Turi is a Vocational High School that has implemented a green school-based school that needs to be given knowledge and skills about EBT and PLTS. Implementing this service consists of EBT counseling and PV mini-grid training. The EBT extension program and PLTS installation training participants were 20 students and ten teachers. EBT counseling increased students' knowledge by 70%, from 15% to 80% after counseling. Meanwhile, for teacher participants, there was an increase of 75% from 25% to 100%. The results of the PLTS installation training increased by 75% for all participants, student participants from 0% to 75%, and teachers from 5% to 80%. At the same time, the rest can improve their skills by practicing themselves in assembling PLTS components that have been granted.

Abstract

Desa Gilangharjo, Kecamatan Pandak, Bantul merupakan sentra UMKM pande besi yang merupakan kearifan lokal daerah tersebut. Para perajin pande besi berada di sekitar Pasar Jodog saat ini berjumlah sekitar 10 pande besi yang masih aktif. Pande Besi memproduksi alat-alat pertanian, alat pertukangan dan senjata tajam yang berbahan utama dari besi dengan cara besi dibakar, ditempa dan dibentuk untuk menghasilkan barang yang lebih mempunyai daya guna tinggi lainnya sesuai dengan pesanan/permintaan konsumen. Produk yang dihasilkan UMKM Pande Besi adalah pisau, arit, golok, cangkul, kampak maupun linggis dan lain-lainnya. Dalam kegiatannya permasalahan yang dihadapi UMKM Pande Besi adalah penanganan manajemen usahanya yang belum memperhatikan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3) terutama pada proses penempaan besi. Metode yang digunakan dalam peningkatan budaya K3 adalah dengan melakukan penyuluhan dan pelatihan tentang K3, cara melaksanakan K3, mengidetifikasi bahaya dan penggunaan APD (AlatPelindung Diri) dengan tepat. Kegiatan yang mendatangkan narasumber Trainer dan Konsultan Bidang K3 Tingkat Nasional ini guna mendukung pemahaman kepada para perajin pande besi Desa Gilangharjo tentang pentingnya mengaplikasikan Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja, sehinggatercipta kenyamanan dan keamanan dalam bekerja. Dari pelaksanaan program yang telah dilakukan terlihat bahwa pelaku UMKM sangat antusias untuk mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan ini. Hal ini dilihat dari banyaknya pertanyaan yang disampaikan oleh peserta kepada pemateri.Pemahaman pengetahuan K3, pemahaman penggunaan alat pelindung diri, dam pemahaman perilaku kerja aman oleh peserta penyuluhan mengalami peningkatan seignifikan setelah penyuluhan K3 dilakukan.Kata Kunci : Alat pelindung diri, Keselamatan Kerja, Kesehatan Kerja, Pande Besi
