Abstract

Packaging is the spearhead of marketing because it directly deals with consumers. Technological advances in the world of modern manufacturing and trading industries are competing to innovate to create the highest quality packaging. Paraffin wax coating, which is waterproof can provide resistance to packaging and the strength of a product so that protection is guaranteed against light, gas, harmful bacteria. The wax coating process without the use of large amounts of human labor requires a laminating system with a PLC program. Planning of this control system is supported by the selection of components based on the voltage on the PLC and ladder diagram simulation assistance with CX-Designer software. The simulation results of ladder diagram control system runs well and the application of ON OFF control using no NC instructions, temperature control thermostat, solenoid valve to open the valve in the chamber, and the calculation of the number of cartons that have been laminated with counter instructions and as an OFF signal on the motor.

Abstract

Inovasi teknologi perlu disebarluaskan kepada masyarakat sebagai wujud implementasi hasil luaran pendidikan di perguruan tinggi. Para petani padi di desa Nogotirto Kapanewon Gamping merupakan sasaran yang tepat karena belum menerapkan teknologi pada proses pasca panen. Proses perontokan padi masih dilakukan secara manual dengan cara dipukul pada alas kayu. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengenalkan dan mengimplementasikan teknologi mesin perontok padi yang dapat digunakan pada saat pasca panen. Metode yang digunakan yaitu penyuluhan dan diseminasi mesin perontok padi kepada mitra. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu mitra petani padi telah mengetahui mekanisme pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin perontok padi secara benar. Implementasi teknologi mesin perontok padi mampu meningkatkan produktifitas petani dan meningkatkan efisiensi biaya pasca panen.

Abstract

Most of the livelihoods of residents in Klegen Hamlet, Trimulyo, Sleman District are mostly cattle breeders. Feeding with fresh grass needs to pay attention to the dimensions of the grass so that it is easily digested by livestock. This service activity focuses on the application of appropriate technology in the form of a grass chopper that is applied to the Makmur cattle group. The method of implementing the program is by dissemination and counseling on the operation and maintenance of machines. The grass chopper has a simple design that makes it easy to operate and maintain. The application of a grass chopper in the prosperous Ngudi livestock group can increase productivity in chopping grass by up to 30 times compared to the manual chopping process.

Abstract

UMKM Pesona Jamur merupakan produsen jamur tiram yang terletak di Padukuhan Klangon dan sudah menjalankan usahanya selama kurang lebih 15 tahun. Permintaan kebutuhan jamur tiram terus meningkat tiap tahunnya. Peningkatan produksi jamur untuk memenuhi kebutuhan berpeluang menim­bul­kan permasalahan lingkungan berupa limbah baglog yang merupakan media tanam jamur. Penanganan limbah baglog jamur di UMKM Pesona Jamur belum optimal dan hanya dibuang begitu saja. Di sisi lain, limbah baglog jamur mengandung unsur hara makro yang berpotensi diolah menjadi pupuk organik untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan pertumbuhan tanaman. Berdasar­kan permasalahan mitra tersebut, memberikan edukasi pemahaman kepada UMKM Pesona Jamur dalam mengelola limbah dari produksi jamur tiram perlu dilakukan untuk mewujudkan produksi yang ber­basis zero waste. Metode pelaksanaan program dengan memberikan penyu­luh­an terkait manajemen dalam mengolah limbah baglog menjadi pupuk organik yang memenuhi baku mutu. Kegiatan selanjutnya yaitu pelatihan membuat pupuk organik berbahan baku limbah baglog menggunakan cara pengomposan aerobik. Hasil dari pelaksanaan pengabdian ini yaitu peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman sebesar rata-rata 80% dari segi penge­tahuan dalam manajemen dan membuat pupuk organik dari limbah baglog jamur. Mitra telah mampu mempraktekkan pembuatan pupuk organik ber­bahan baku limbah baglog jamur dengan tepat sesuai prosedur. UMKM Pesona Jamur semakin teredukasi bahwa limbah baglog jika diolah dengan baik bisa menjadi produk pupuk organik yang lebih menguntungkan. Mene­rap­kan manajemen pengolahan limbah baglog juga mendukung prinsip zero waste dalam proses produksinya.

Abstract

The application of natural fibers in the hybrid laminated composite with synthetic fibers potentially reduces the production cost of composite products. Jute fibers have gained interest because of their properties such as biodegradability, low cost, and high cellulose content. This study investigated the effect of chemical treatment on the woven jute fiber to determine its impact on the mechanical properties of jute/carbon hybrid composites. The chemical treatment with alkalization and then bleaching is considered for jute woven fibers before manufacturing hybrid composite. Four layers using two woven jute fibers and two woven carbon fibers were fabricated by the vacuum infusion method. Physical properties were carried out by Fourier transform infrared and x-ray diffraction to treat jute fiber. Tensile and flexural tests are carried out according to ASTM standards D638 and D790, respectively. Composite hybrid R-JKJK and P-JKJK have fulfilled the criteria to be used as an alternative helmet material.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of heat treatment on the hardness, tensile strength, and surface roughness of AISI 1045 steel during turning operations. The material was tested under three conditions: untreated, hardened (with water and oil quenching), and tempered. Results reveal that heat treatment transformed the microstructure from ferrite-pearlite to a combination of martensite, bainite, ferrite, and pearlite. Hardness increased from 52.83 HRC (untreated) to 80.17 HRC (water-quenching hardening) and 68.33 HRC (oil-quenching hardening). Tempering achieved the highest tensile strength at 1231.73 MPa with a hardness of 65 HRC. Surface roughness was lowest for tempered specimens at 700 RPM (3.6 µm), while water-quenching hardening at 1000 RPM resulted in the highest roughness (35.35 µm). Tempering is recommended for machine components such as shafts due to its optimal balance of mechanical properties, hardness, and surface quality.

Abstract

The cultivation of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and straw mushrooms (Volvariella volvacea) generates large amounts of organic waste, particularly spent growing media such as baglogs and fermented straw. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of combining oyster mushroom baglog waste with straw mushroom cultivation residue in producing high-quality compost. he method used was aerobic composting with seven variations of mixing ratios, supplemented with goat manure and biological activators (M-21 and molasses). The observed parameters included temperature, pH, moisture content, organic carbon content, carbon-to-nitrogen ratio (C/N), and macronutrient content (N + P₂O₅ + K₂O). The results showed that the combination of oyster mushroom waste and straw mushroom waste at a 2:3 ratio produced optimal decomposition conditions, yielding the highest compost quality in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The resulting compost met the quality standards based on SNI 7763:2024, particularly with respect to a maximum C/N ratio of 25, a minimum organic carbon content of 15%, a minimum macronutrient content (N + P₂O₅ + K₂O) of 2%, and a stable, near-neutral pH. These findings suggest that a proportional combination of both types of mushroom waste can serve as an effective and sustainable solution for organic waste management in support of environmentally friendly agriculture.

Abstract

Efisiensi mesin CNC Milling sangat berpengaruh terhadap produktivitas industri manufaktur. Penurunan kinerja mesin sering terjadi akibat gangguan operasional yang belum dianalisis secara sistematis. Metode Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) dan Six Big Losses digunakan untuk mengukur efektivitas mesin serta mengidentifikasi sumber utama kehilangan efisiensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat efisiensi mesin CNC Milling berdasarkan nilai Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) dan Six Big Losses selama periode Januari hingga Juni. OEE dihitung berdasarkan tiga parameter utama, yaitu Availability Rate, Performance Efficiency, dan Rate of Quality. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata Availability mencapai 99%, Rate of Quality 100%, dan Performance Efficiency sebesar 84,67%, dengan nilai OEE rata-rata sebesar 83,83%. Nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa performa mesin berada pada kategori baik, namun belum mencapai standar kelas dunia. Faktor utama yang menurunkan OEE adalah efisiensi performa yang masih di bawah optimal. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kerugian terbesar berasal dari kategori Speed Losses, yaitu Idle and Minor Stoppages (41,72%) dan Reduce Speed Losses (35,35%), dengan total kontribusi 77,07% terhadap waktu kerugian. Downtime Losses menyumbang 22,93%, sementara Defect Losses tidak tercatat. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa efisiensi mesin lebih dipengaruhi oleh kecepatan kerja dan gangguan kecil dibandingkan kerusakan atau cacat produk. Optimalisasi proses operasi dan penerapan Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas mesin. Oleh karena itu, peningkatan efisiensi kerja dan pengurangan hambatan minor perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan efektivitas mesin secara keseluruhan.
