Abstract

With the development of sharia banks, one of the effects is the existence of competition among sharia banks. This study analyses the efficiency of sharia business units of private banks in Indonesia. Understanding efficiency is essential because if banks perform consistently with total efficiency, the fewer inputs they use, the larger their output. Total earning assets measure the output, while the inputs used are total deposit and total operating costs. A data envelopment analysis with input-oriented and variable returns-to-scale is used to accomplish the objective. The result shows that three of the seven sharia business units under investigation are considered the most efficient. This indicates that the sharia business unit does not have to have the highest output value to be the most efficient one. It also must have low values of inputs. Keywords: data envelopment analysis; efficiency; Indonesian private bank; sharia business unit.

Abstract

Education plays a pivotal role in national development, and assessing its quality is crucial. One widely recognized international assessment is the OECD's PISA, which evaluates mathematics, science, and reading abilities among 15-year-old students globally. In 2018, Indonesian students scored below the OECD average, highlighting deficiencies in the education system. This study investigates the determinants influencing Indonesian students' PISA scores using 2018 data. Multiple linear regression is employed to analyze three models: mathematics, science, and reading scores as dependent variables. Independent variables include age, gender, study time in mathematics, science, and reading, economic, social, and cultural status, family wealth, home ICT ownership, teacher feedback, and school discrimination perception. The findings reveal varying influences on PISA scores across domains: age does not affect mathematics scores, gender does not affect science scores, and all variables significantly impact reading ability scores at the 5% confidence level.

Abstract

The existence of competition among sharia banks is one of the effects that occur with the development of sharia banks. The purpose of this study is to analyze the efficiency of Sharia banks in Indonesia. Understanding efficiency is important because if banks are always operating at full efficiency, the fewer inputs they use, the greater the output they achieve. Output is measured by total earning assets, while the inputs used are total deposits and total operating expenses. A data envelopment analysis with input-oriented and variable returns to scale is used to achieve the objective. The result shows that of the twelve Sharia banks studied, four are considered to be the most efficient.

Abstract

Inbound logistics, including receiving goods, quality and physical checking, item inquiry, and stock-level checking are essential aspects within supply chain management in which the unresponsive operation may lead to inefficiency. This study aims to observed the ongoing operations in a mid-sized paper manufacturer using a combination of Business Process Modelling to map the current flow process, Lean Waste Analysis to identify possible wastes, and SCOR Digital Standard to offer improvement opportunities. The results show that waiting, motion, overprocessing, and inventory wastes are identified across the three logistics main processes. Additional waste, human skill, is observed in the stock-level checking procedure. Subsequently, SCOR DS recommends the firm to escalate the human skills of lean manufacturing, bar code handling & RFID, ERP system, automation tool, time management, and collaboration, to support the performance improvement. Finally, the study proposed metrics within four dimensions to validate the solution impact on the performance, including the responsiveness, reliability, asset management, and people.

Abstract

Research aim: This study aims to analyze consumer preferences toward eco-friendly shoes by identifying the most influential attributes affecting purchasing decisions, including price, recycled materials, durability, ecolabel, and recyclability. Design/Methode/Approach: A quantitative approach was employed using Choice-Based Conjoint Analysis (CBCA) to evaluate consumer preferences for sustainable footwear. Research Finding: Price emerged as the most influential attribute, with consumers preferring products priced between IDR 500,000–1,000,000. Recycled materials and product durability had significant positive utilities, indicating strong consumer preference for environmentally sustainable shoes. Ecolabels also played a key role, showing that certified products are more appealing. However, training shoes were less preferred compared to casual and running shoes. Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study contributes to sustainable fashion literature by empirically highlighting the relative importance of sustainability-related attributes in consumer purchasing behavior within the footwear industry. Practitioner/Policy implication: Manufacturers and marketers should emphasize affordable pricing, use of recycled materials, durability, and ecolabel visibility to align with consumer preferences and strengthen environmental positioning. Research limitation: This study focuses on Indonesian consumers; future research should include broader samples to enhance generalizability.
