Abstract

Abstract

Batik, one of Indonesia’s most important cultural heritages, requires maximum conservation. Meanwhile, Batik Mahkota Laweyan in Solo (Surakarta), Central Java, is the nation’s oldest handcrafted batik producer that specializes not only in hand-made products but also in activities related to education and tourism. This initiative is intended to increase the company’s market visibility. Despite these initiatives, the organization has struggled to fully realize its potential due to its numerous challenges. This research provides insights into the challenges faced by MSMEs, particularly the batik business. It suggests actionable solutions based on a design thinking framework and qualitative methods. The study conducted at Batik Mahkota Laweyan identified and prioritized the challenges, including weak branding in tourism and service knowledge. A brainstorming session generated 36 practical ideas for improvement. The research also highlights the branding opportunities in travel and education services, emphasizing timely implementation within budget constraints. It offers guidance on enhancing branding at Batik Mahkota Laweyan, and the interview questions could serve as a template for future research in similar businesses.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how brand credibility influences skincare purchase intention among Gen Z consumers using e-commerce platforms and examine the mediating role of fear of missing out (FoMO). Four hypotheses are proposed: brand credibility positively influences FoMO and purchase intention, FoMO positively influences purchase intention, and FoMO mediates the relationship between brand credibility and purchase intention. This study used a quantitative cross-sectional design with an online survey of 285 Gen Z consumers in Indonesia who had searched for or purchased local skincare products through e-commerce platforms. Respondents were selected using non-probability purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Brand credibility, FoMO, and skincare purchase intention were measured using an adapted multi-item Likert scale, and the data were analyzed using PLS-SEM, including evaluation of the measurement model and structural model. The results indicate that brand credibility increases FoMO and directly strengthens purchase intention. At the same time, FoMO is the strongest predictor of skincare purchase intention and partially mediates the effect of brand credibility on purchase intention. These findings indicate that brand credibility in the context of social commerce not only serves as a rational signal that reduces risk but also as a FoMO trigger that accelerates purchase intention

Abstract

Rose cultivation is an important agricultural sector in Ngliman Village. However, conventional cultivation practices that remain widely adopted have resulted in low productivity, declining sales, and reduced farmer satisfaction. This study aims to analyse the effect of applying cultivation technology on rose productivity, increased sales, and farmer satisfaction. The research employed an experimental method on a 4 × 15 metre plot planted with 60 rose plants. Cultivation technology was implemented to improve plant growth and production yields. Data were collected over six planting cycles and compared with conventional cultivation methods. The results showed a significant increase in productivity following the application of cultivation technology. Increased yields directly contributed to higher sales and greater levels of farmer satisfaction. These findings indicate that integrating technology into rose cultivation can improve farming performance while providing economic benefits for farmers. Furthermore, the application of technology supports more efficient and sustainable cultivation practices. This study demonstrates that the use of technology has the potential to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of rose cultivation businesses in Ngliman Village and other areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Ngliman Village is one of the largest rose-producing villages in the Kediri Residency area. However, the surplus of rose harvests has resulted in a large amount of rose petals not being optimally utilized, potentially becoming organic waste. One of the alternative solutions for utilizing this waste is through the fermentation of eco enzyme made from rose petals. The fermentation process conducted by the Women Farmers Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) is still performed manually, making it difficult to monitor fermentation conditions and increasing the risk of fermentation failure. This study aims to implement a real-time eco enzyme fermentation monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system was designed using an ESP32 microcontroller with a DHT22 sensor for temperature monitoring and an MPX Pressure Sensor for monitoring fermentation gas pressure. Monitoring data are transmitted through the internet network and displayed on a web-based dashboard in real-time. The results show that the system is capable of reading, processing, and displaying temperature and gas pressure monitoring data effectively during the fermentation process. The implementation of the IoT-based monitoring system can support a more effective, structured, and efficient fermentation monitoring process while minimizing the risk of fermentation failure at the community scale.
