Abstract

This article explores the growing political apathy among Indonesia's young generation, which poses significant challenges to the nation's democratic future. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, the study delves into the lived experiences of Indonesian youth to uncover the factors contributing to their disengagement from political processes. Key factors identified include disillusionment with the political system, the influence of digital media, socio-economic pressures, cultural and familial expectations, and educational shortcomings. The article also discusses the implications of this apathy for Indonesia's democracy and proposes recommendations to re-engage the youth in the political process. These include reforming civic education, leveraging digital media for positive engagement, addressing socio-economic barriers, promoting a culture of political participation, strengthening political institutions, and encouraging youth leadership.

Abstract

This study investigates the adverse impact of political buzzers on communication intelligence within Indonesian society during the 2014–2024 period. Political buzzers, typically anonymous digital actors affiliated with political elites, have emerged as powerful manipulators of public discourse through disinformation, emotional provocation, and identity-based polarization. Utilizing a qualitative case study methodology, this research employs critical discourse analysis, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews to explore how sustained exposure to buzzer-driven content degrades critical thinking, discourages dialogical tolerance, and undermines the epistemic foundations necessary for democratic engagement. The findings demonstrate that buzzers deploy binary framing, fabricate consensus, and target dissenters with delegitimizing rhetoric, resulting in weakened public reasoning and increased cynicism. These effects are unevenly distributed across regions and demographics: while urban citizens exhibit media fatigue and withdrawal, rural populations remain more susceptible to disinformation. The study situates these dynamics within broader theoretical frameworks on communicative rationality and network propaganda, extending the discussion to include the cognitive and ethical dimensions of political discourse manipulation. This research contributes to interdisciplinary scholarship on digital politics and democratic resilience by foregrounding the concept of communication intelligence—an underexplored but essential faculty for informed participation in contemporary democracies. It concludes with a call for structural and cultural reforms, including the institutionalization of media literacy, platform regulation, the promotion of ethical digital norms, and the strengthening of civil society dialogue forums. These measures are imperative to counteract the corrosive influence of political buzzers and to restore a communication environment conducive to rational, ethical, and inclusive democratic deliberation.

Abstract

The Papuan Tabla language is as an endangered language. In that language, knowledge is recorded as local identity. This discussion aims to find ways to increase the vitality of the Papuan Tabla language and literature. The method used is literature and field studies through surveys, observations, interviews, documentation, and learning. As a result, in increasing the vitality of the Papuan Tabla language and literature, the language and literature must be researched, documented, and revitalized. Linguists have researched the Papuan Tabla language system. The recording of language in various spheres of life needs to be documented. Language and literature learning is designed in the form of community or family-based revitalization. The three activities received support from the Tabla Papuan community and stakeholders. With this support, Tabla Papua's language and literature can increase its life force, primarily when people use it in the family realm. In conclusion, preservation in the form of research, documentation and revitalization of the Papuan Tabla language and literature can increase the vitality of language and literature. The program can be one of the models in saving languages from extinction.

Abstract

Phonology is an interdisciplinary science that studies all the mechanical waves in gases, liquids and solids, including vibrations, ultrasound, sound and infrasound. The study of acoustic function is essential nowadays. In conditions of artificial civilization development, complementary electronic ornaments are still very dependent on the level of success with the form of structure and composition of space itself. The problem arises when an adjustment on one side, meant for improvement, shifts the ideal coordinates on the other. For this reason, a comprehensive adjustment and correction idea had to emerge as a solution, with acoustic studies as a starting point. This study tries to describe the ideal pattern design based on investigations and observations of the actual conditions of the Function hall of Building X and tries to determine the suitable material for that space. The stages carried out in the research can be adjusted to the research needs. This step is to get the most comprehensive results with the most effective and efficient steps. Research methods also include integrated software and trial and error analysis. The new pattern design in the Function hall of Building X has good acoustic insulation with some adjustments that still make getting an ideal room evaluation possible.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal in depth how the influence of the Betawi language influences the speech patterns of teenagers in Jakarta. Through a qualitative and descriptive analytical approach, this research explores words in sentences that show characteristics of Betawi language interference, such as affixation, reduplication, composition, and acronyms. The findings highlight the significant influence of the Betawi language, especially in the areas of affixation and reduplication. For example, words often undergo modification with the addition of Betawi-inspired prefixes, suffixes or confixes, while specific repetition patterns such as 'dwilingga' are also clearly observed. However, interestingly, no Betawi language interference was detected in the formation of compositions and acronyms. This shows the selective influence of the Betawi language on speech morphology, especially influencing affixation and reduplication. This study provides valuable insights for future research into linguistic influences in multi-ethnic and multi-lingual environments such as Jakarta. The implications of this research include a better understanding of language dynamics in linguistically heterogeneous societies, as well as the potential to enrich knowledge about processes of language adaptation and change in complex urban contexts. Thus, this research not only broadens understanding of linguistic phenomena in Jakarta, but also makes an important contribution to the field of linguistic studies.

Abstract

The Betawi language, like many other global languages, faces the threat of extinction caused by various factors, including the evolution of civilization. This threat threatens various aspects of indigenous Betawi culture. Therefore, maintaining and preserving the Betawi language is very important. The challenge is to understand the breadth of the Betawi linguistic and textual context. It is important to develop targeted strategies that highlight the main elements affected by language degradation, especially in the Betawi community. This study identified these elements after conducting intensive field research for more than a year with continuous observations. This research shows that sociological qualitative analysis, especially in evaluating people's social interactions, is the most effective method. Five main areas were identified to analyze the impact of language decline: linguistic aspects, individual identity, intergenerational communication, knowledge transfer, and economic implications

Abstract

This study critically examines the trajectory of United States policy during the presidency of Donald J. Trump (2017–2021) by analyzing his public statements through the lens of critical discourse analysis (CDA). Unlike traditional studies that focus on institutional outputs such as legislation or executive orders, this research foregrounds presidential rhetoric as a key instrument for articulating and shaping national policy. Drawing from 50 selected speeches, interviews, and tweets, the analysis reveals consistent rhetorical patterns reflecting themes of nationalism, protectionism, securitization, and polarization. The study categorizes Trump's discourse into five policy domains: foreign policy, economic policy, immigration, national security, and crisis communication. Within each domain, the research identifies how language was strategically employed to frame threats, mobilize support, delegitimize opposition, and justify controversial policy moves. The findings underscore the centrality of language in governance, demonstrating how presidential discourse acts as both a symbolic and operational force in shaping public perception and political direction. This article contributes to interdisciplinary conversations in political communication, discourse studies, and policy analysis, while offering a model for understanding how populist rhetoric redefines leadership and democratic norms in the digital age.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) as a therapeutic intervention for individuals suffering from drug, gambling, and pornography addictions. Recognizing addiction as a complex interplay of cognitive distortions, emotional dysregulation, and maladaptive internal narratives, this research employs a mixed-methods design combining quasi-experimental pretest-posttest analysis with phenomenological inquiry. A total of 45 participants from three Indonesian rehabilitation centers underwent either NLP-based therapy or standard counseling over six weeks. Quantitative results from the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), Cognitive Distortion Scale (CDS), and Language Use Assessment (LUA) revealed statistically significant improvements in the NLP group across all addiction types. Participants exhibited reduced cravings, greater emotional regulation, and shifts in self-narration from passive, deterministic language to agentic, self-aware expressions. Qualitative findings further underscored the therapeutic value of NLP techniques such as submodality shifts, reframing, anchoring, and timeline therapy, which helped participants reprogram internal triggers and traumatic associations. The study concludes that NLP effectively addresses the neurocognitive and linguistic dimensions of addiction, facilitating sustained behavioral change. Its adaptable, experiential, and non-pharmacological nature makes it a promising complement to existing treatment modalities. Further research is encouraged to explore long-term effects and broader clinical integration of NLP in addiction recovery.

Abstract

Language's central and vital role and function make it very interesting to continue to be explored, questioned, and studied. The Republic of Indonesia has an official language used by its citizens, namely Bahasa Indonesia. This language aims to unite the Indonesian people who are multicultural or have ethnic and cultural diversity so that no distance separates fellow Indonesian citizens from hundreds of tribes, according to the 1928 Youth Pledge Convention. The thing that must be realized now is the use of the Indonesian language, which is getting weaker. The weakness is not that it is not used at all but that foreign terms are included in public discussion, and it tends to be considered more prestigious to be used. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that refers to the sources of literature and the results of previous studies. The existence of Indonesian can decline when most Indonesians are happy and proud to use a foreign language that is considered more respectable and classier. However, the current condition of the existence of the Indonesian language is still in a safe stage. Bahasa Indonesia can continue to exist while preserving it by following the prevailing context and linguistic rules and developing its construction according to the needs and desires of civilization.

Abstract

The long road of economic and political modernisation of Democracy in Indonesia has transformed Indonesian society into an industrial community that has not empowered the people's economic sectors. The ups and downs of democratic politics remain far from the culture of deliberation mandated by Pancasila. The combination of development politics that has hit collective economic and cultural wisdom with political liberalisation in the past 15 years has negatively impacted Indonesian cultural identity. The following study seeks to reconstruct the local knowledge and political values of Indonesian ethnic groups and communities to demonstrate the potential of social capital to improve our democratic politics. The object of the study consists of two types: the first is ethnic groups, with a focus on Wajo and Minang, and the second is the communities of several urban parks in Java. The theoretical perspective used is the theory of consultative Democracy. From the point of view of political anthropology, this study is a case study in the context of qualitative research with qualitative-interpretive methods.
