Abstract

Purpose:Identity nowadays has become very complicated in the political sphere. Political identity needs to be studied from two perspectives; Western theory and Islamic theory. Islamic political identity taken from the concept of the Qur'an. This research aims to reveal identity politics from these two perspectives, namely the perspective of the al-Qur'an and Western theory.  Method:The library research method is used for this critical analysis research, which takes a qualitative approach. The qualitative method collected data and news references from books, journals, or trusted online sources.  Results/Findings:The results show that there are contradictions in interpreting identity politics. Identity politics is often interpreted as something that is considered harmful. Through critical analysis, researchers found differences from the most fundamental aspects of understanding and theory to the value of their influence on society.  Conclusion:Even though the theory of identity in the West existed and was developed by Henry Tajfel and John Turner, the theory is in line with how Islam views political identity as necessary as a political strategy that emphasizes differentiation and the utilization of primordial ties as its main category. Identity in the Qur'an is called Shibgah. The theory of identity, both in politics and outside politics, is correct and reasonable.

Abstract

Spiritual intelligence is an important dimension in the holistic development of students. Although intellectual intelligence (IQ) is often the main focus in education, spiritual intelligence also has a significant role in shaping character, morality, and emotional well-being. Islamic Religious subject is one way to develop spiritual intelligence, a phenomenon that occurs at MI Nurussalam. Islamic Religious subject is given at a percentage of 10% of the general subjects’ hours so that religious subject study hours only last for three meetings a week. Universitas Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor Women’s Campus Postgraduate Community Service Team organized PERSAMI at MI Nurussalam which aimed at increasing student's spiritual intelligence through fun natural activities, namely Saturday and Sunday Camps (Saturday and Sunday Camps – PERSAMI). The method used is PAR (Participatory Action Research), in partnership with MI Nurussalam teachers and students. This community service has succeeded in carrying out a series of activities which generally includes camps, cross country, and happy bonfires with a series of religious subjects in each activity. PERSAMI of MI Nurussalam activities succeeded in increasing students' spiritual enthusiasm and increasing their understanding of religion through fun nature camp activities.

Abstract

This study investigates the Qur’anic concept of divine justice as it relates to inheritance distribution and the role of women in legal testimony, areas often debated for their gender-specific rulings. While these provisions may appear to privilege men, this research explores the underlying rationale that integrates social roles, economic responsibilities, and ethical principles within Islamic jurisprudence. According to Islamic teachings, the objective is to elucidate how these distinct legal norms contribute to a balanced and just society. Employing a Qur’anic semantic analysis, the study focuses on key verses from Surah ’Al-Nisā’ [4]: 11 , 176 and Surah Al-Baqarah [2]:282, supplemented by classical and contemporary interpretations and the maqāṣid al-shariah framework emphasising justice and social harmony. Findings reveal that the Qur’anic guidance aims to establish justice by recognizing equality in dignity while differentiating rights and duties based on social and financial roles. For example, the unequal inheritance shares reflect men’s broader financial obligations to family stability, and testimony rules prioritise evidentiary reliability over gender bias. The study concludes that the Qur’anic justice model balances individual rights with collective responsibilities, fostering social cohesion and challenging simplistic views of discrimination. This research contributes to scholarly discourse by clarifying the ethical and jurisprudence foundations of gender-specific legal provisions in Islam.

Abstract

Water is a vital element that sustains life and maintains the balance of the global ecosystem. This article examines the correlation between the Earth’s water reservoirs and environmental preservation as indicated in the Qur’an. The study employs a semantic analysis method within the framework of iʿjāz lughawī (linguistic inimitability) and iʿjāz ʿilmī (scientific inimitability), focusing on key verses from Surah al-Ḥijr (15:22) and al-Mu’minūn (23:18–19), and is supported by an interdisciplinary literature review. The findings reveal that the term asqaynā refers to the process of water infiltration into the soil, while askannā denotes the mechanism of subterranean water storage. These terms represent a complex hydrological cycle, encompassing rainfall, infiltration, percolation, and plant absorption. This process supports photosynthesis, maintains soil moisture, and enhances ecological stability sustainably. The study concludes that the Qur’an not only conveys spiritual and moral teachings, but also contains scientific insights aligned with the principles of environmental sustainability. It contributes to the development of ecological Qur’anic exegesis rooted in integrating scientific knowledge and divine revelation.

Abstract

The concept of power today is much influenced by the thoughts of John Locke. The power shaped by John Locke gives this country a liberal character. Individual rights are at the centre of all interests. In the history of Islam, some concepts have been very important in shaping Islamic perceptions of democracy. This research is library research because it is library research. The approach used is a historical-philosophical approach. This paper dissects John Locke's democratic thinking, which is analysed using the democratic thinking of a contemporary Muslim intellectual, namely Abu A'la Maududi. Theo-democracy is a system of government initiated by Al-Maududi by combining the concepts of monotheism and trias politica. The Al-Maududi Islamic State must be built on the basis of Islam, which is the main foundation of Tawhid. According to Maududi, power in the form of sovereignty is based primarily on God's sovereignty rather than the sovereignty of the people. The theo-democratic system is divided into three institutions: the legislature, executive, and judiciary.
