Abstract

Acetyl vanillate was synthesized to become an analgesic compound was conducted in two stages. The first stage is oxidation vanillin using Tollens reagent. The result of the oxidation wascharacterized by melting point and FTIR. The second stage, vanillic acid was acetylated usingacetic acid anhydrous under two conditions, that are acid and base using H2SO4 and NaOH 10%,respectively. Two difference products from those processes were characterized using FTIR and1H-NMR. The result of the melting point vanillic acid test showed 204°C and the standard is210°C. Vanilline was successfully oxidized, based on comparison FTIR spectra between vanillineand its precursor that showed no functional group of C-H aldehyde at 2,700-2,800 cm-1. Thecharacteristics FTIR spectra under base conditions showed no absorption of functional group ‒OHthat substituted by an acetyl group. So that, the base catalyst indicated no product of the expectedcompound. The product under acidic compounds have the characteristic yellow crystals with amelting point of 130°C. Characteristics of FTIR showed no width absorption at wave number 3400cm-1 and evidenced by 1H-NMR spectra. Shift peak at 2.342 ppm was an absorption acetylcompounds. It was concluded that acetylation of acetyl vanillate compounds under acidicconditions to produce the expected product. Keywords: vanilin, vanilic acid, acetylation

Abstract

Sedangkan fraksi pelarut n-Heksana hanya mengandung steroid.

Abstract

Food is food or drink that must be guaranteed food safety for human consumption. One aspect of food safety that needs to be considered is the use of Food Additives (FA). Food additives are materials added to food to influence the nature or shape of the food, an example is dye. Some enterpreneurs use dyes to give food colors that are more striking, such as using dyes in candy. However, the dyes used by entrepreneurs are synthetic dyes not for food, such as auramine and methanyl yellow. The use of auramine and methanyl yellow dyes in candy can be identified using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) through chromatogram results. The research results obtained were that x candy did not contain auramine and methanyl yellow dyes. In the results of the chromatogram research, the 1st repeat and 2nd repeat candy samples did not have an area at the retention time of the auramine and methanyl yellow standard solution.

Abstract

Fly Ash or fly ash is solid waste produced from burning coal in power plants. Fly Ash was previously obtained from the simple production of burning coal with a gas funnel and dispersed into the atmosphere. The use of Fly Ash in OPC type cement has been carried out with varying percentages of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%. The test was carried out by adding an additive (Fly Ash) to the basic material for making OPC cement. Next, testing the composition of the properties of Fly Ash using X-ray, testing the physical properties of cement, namely testing compressive strength and setting time, while testing the chemical properties of cement was carried out using the Insoluble Parts and SO3 tests. From the results of this research, it was found that the addition of Fly ash had a positive impact on compressive strength, cement setting time, and SO3. Where the addition of Fly ash from low to high percentages can increase the fineness of the cement so that it affects the setting time and compressive strength of the cement. From this research, it was found that the addition of additives (Fly ash) can improve the quality of OPC cement, and in general it is not much different from the physical properties of PCC cement.

Abstract

Indonesia's biodiversity holds significant potential as a source of medicinal compounds, one of which is Avicennia marina, known for its antioxidant and antibacterial properties. However, due to its protected conservation status, its utilization is limited. An alternative approach to harness its benefits is through symbiotic microorganisms such as endophytic fungi. This study aimed to isolate and evaluate the bioactivity of the endophytic fungus Fusarium brachygibbosum isolated from the stem of A. marina as a potential source of novel therapeutic agents. The methodology involved fungal isolation, morphological identification, and evaluation of antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method and antioxidant activity using the DPPH assay. The results demonstrated that the obtained isolate (coded ADM2) exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, and Bacillus subtilis. Moreover, the antioxidant assay of the ADM2 isolate revealed a very strong potential (IC50 < 20 µg/mL), indicating its potent ability to scavenge free radicals. Based on these findings and the literature on F. brachygibbosum, this species shows great potential as a source of bioactive compounds with medical applications, particularly in treating infections and preventing degenerative diseases. Further in vivo studies are necessary to confirm the therapeutic potential of this fungus as a safe and effective drug candidate.

Next, testing the chemical composition properties of Fly Ash using Xray, testing the physical properties of cement, namely testing the compressive strength resulting from molding the mortar and testing the setting time. Meanwhile, testing the chemical properties of cement was carried out using IR (insoluble residue) and SO3. From the results of this research, it was found that the addition of Fly Ash had a positive impact on 7 day compressive strength, setting time and SO3. The addition of Fly Ash from low to high percentages can increase the fineness of the cement so that it affects the setting time and compressive strength of the cement. From this research it was found that the addition of additives (Fly Ash) can improve the quality of OPC cement and in general it is not much different from the physical properties of PCC cement.
