Abstract

Mustard greens (Brassica rapa L.) is a vegetable crop that is widely consumed by Indonesians. The use of quality seeds can increase productivity. The quality of seeds can decrease during the storage period. The process of quality degradation is a natural and unavoidable process. One method of artificially fast aging of the seeds is by electrocuting the seeds using chemicals. Depression of seeds with alcohol can be used to test the deterioration of seeds due to poisoning caused by alcohol. This study aims to influence the ethanol / alcohol concentration and the duration of agitation on the viability of caisin seeds. This study used a factorial treatment design (2x5) in a completely randomized design (CRD) with four replications. The first factor is the concentration of ethanol (20% and 25%) and the second factor is the duration of the stroke (30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes). The results showed that the ethanol concentration and the calming time had a significant effect on the viability of the caisin seeds. The viability of caisin seeds decreased to 45.5% with ethanol pressure for 150 minutes at a concentration of 20%.

Abstract

Bibit alpukat unggul lokal dapat dikembangkan dengan cara bermitra dengan penangkar benih/produsen bibit atau kelompok tani. CV Jaya Mandiri Agro merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang perdagangan dan produksi tanaman secara vegetatif khususnya dibidang tanaman Hortikultura dan bertempat di desa Badransari, Tulusrejo, Kecamatan Pekalongan, Kabupaten Lampung Timur, Provinsi Lampung. Pengembangan bibit alpukat unggul lokal perlu dilakukan guna melestarikan sumber daya genetik unggul serta dapat dijadikan sebagai calon bibit unggul untuk didaftarkan sebagai varietas lokal. Metode perbanyakan bibit alpukat salah satunya adalah dengan cara metode sambung pucuk. Metode perbanyakan dengan cara termasuk ke dalam metode perbanyakan secara vegetatif, dengan keunggulan akan menghasilkan keturunan yang memiliki sifat yang sama dengan induknya. Selain mudah untuk dilakukan oleh petani, metode perbanyakan dengan cara sambung pucuk tidak memerlukan biaya yang besar. Oleh karena itu, pada program pengabdian ini akan dilakukan transfer teknologi kepada CV Jaya Mandiri Agro mengenai pengembangan durian unggul lokal Lampung dengan metode sambung pucuk. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan praktis sambung pucuk alpukat unggul lokal Lampung.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) plays a crucial role in Indonesia's food security. The use of high-quality seeds is essential to improve rice productivity. One of the factors affecting seed quality is seed physiology, particularly the physiological processes after harvest, known as after-ripening. After-ripening is a process that enables seeds to germinate after a certain period of dry storage. This study aims to determine the duration of the after-ripening period in several superior rice varieties and identify the variety with the shortest after-ripening period among those tested. The research was conducted at the Seed Analysis Laboratory, Lampung State Polytechnic, from November 2023 to January 2024, using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor was the after-ripening period (ranging from 0 to 6 weeks), and the second factor was the rice varieties (Gilirang, Inpari 42, and Inpari 43). Each experimental unit consisted of 100 rice seeds. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and further tested with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the after-ripening period varied among the varieties. The Gilirang variety completed its after-ripening period within 1 week, while Inpari 42 and Inpari 43 required 2 and 3 weeks, respectively. The Gilirang variety demonstrated the shortest after-ripening period, than the Inpari 42 and Inpari 43 varieties.
