Abstract

Geopolymer concrete has decent strength, but it is still lower compared to conventional concrete. One way to improve the strength of geopolymer concrete is by adding reinforcing fibers. The fibers used should be suitable for the environmental conditions and economical. One fiber that can be used to enhance the strength of concrete is steel fiber. The addition of steel fiber to concrete can increase its density but may decrease the slump value, which can affect the workability of the concrete. In BGP 1%, the increase from 0% fiber content reaches 3.2%, and in BGP 2%, it reaches the maximum density of 2405.73 kg/m3 with the addition of fiber to geopolymer concrete. From the results, it can be observed that as the density of geopolymer concrete increases, the slump value tends to decrease.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the impact of adding coconut fiber on the compressive and tensile strengths of geopolymer concrete. The study utilized geopolymer concrete composed of a mixture of fly ash and coconut coir fiber. The research variables included the percentage of coconut coir fiber in the geopolymer concrete mix, namely 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, and 1%. Data collection involved the fabrication of geopolymer concrete, testing of coarse and fine aggregates, and aggregate sieve analysis. The results of this study are expected to provide insights into the potential of coconut fiber in enhancing the quality of geopolymer concrete. The analysis revealed that the addition of coconut fiber can increase the tensile strength of geopolymer concrete, with a peak enhancement of 32.52% observed at the optimal proportion of 0.5%. Conversely, at 1%, a decrease of 4.64% in tensile strength was noted. Furthermore, the compressive strength of geopolymer concrete experienced improvement up to a proportion of 0.5%, showing an increase of 48.79%. However, at 1%, the tensile strength decreased by 12.43%. Therefore, the 0.5% proportion of coconut fiber is considered optimal for enhancing both tensile and compressive strengths of geopolymer concrete. This research contributes to expanding the understanding of coconut fiber usage in geopolymer concrete and provides recommendations regarding the optimal proportion of coconut fiber in the geopolymer concrete mix.

Abstract

This research aims to design a geopolymer concrete mix with the addition of waste flex banner fiber and to study its effects on various physical and mechanical properties of the concrete. The study focuses on the influence of flex banner fiber on the density of geopolymer concrete, workability with a target slump value of 90 mm, and the compressive and splitting tensile strength with flex banner fiber additions of 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1.0% by weight of fly ash. The research method involves curing the concrete in water for 7, 14, and 28 days. The results indicate that the addition of flex banner fiber increases the density of geopolymer concrete, achieving an optimal density of 2462.83 kg/m³. This study also shows that the workability of the flex banner fiber mix in geopolymer concrete meets the target slump value of 90 mm at a 0.75% fiber addition. As the fiber percentage increases, a significant reduction in slump value occurs. At 0.5% fiber content, the slump value decreases to 110 mm, while at 1% fiber content, the slump value drops to 53 mm. The addition of flex banner fiber improves the mechanical properties of geopolymer concrete. The compressive strength of geopolymer concrete with 0.75% fiber addition increases by 4.19%. Furthermore, the optimal splitting tensile strength is achieved with a 0.61% flex banner fiber addition.

Abstract

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an essential competency for peer counselors to support mental health among university students. To strengthen students’ knowledge and readiness in providing early psychological support, a one-day Peer Counselor Training was conducted involving 22 psychology students (mean age = 20.73 years). The training consisted of lectures, video, case discussions, demonstrations, supervised roleplay, reflection, and assessments covering mental health concepts, psychological disorders, non-suicidal self-injury, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, suicide, dynamics of interpersonal relationships, and the core principles of PFA. Pre- and post-training assessments showed a clear improvement in participants’ knowledge. Due to the non-normal distribution of the posttest scores, a Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was performed, yielding statistically significant results (Z = -4.12, p < 0.001). This finding indicates that the training effectively enhanced students’ understanding of PFA. Participants also expressed high satisfaction with the learning materials, simulations, and media used, suggesting that the training methods were engaging and useful for practical skill development. They recommended longer simulation sessions and more interactive case-based discussions for future training. Importantly, the training strengthens the role of students as active partners in campus mental health promotion. Trained peer counselors serve as an accessible first point of contact for fellow students, including those with disabilities who may face academic, emotional, or social barriers. Their presence supports early detection of distress, facilitates timely referrals to professionals, and complements the work of Counselling and Disability Service Unit (Unit Layanan Disabilitas/ULD). Through this initiative, the university’s commitment to inclusive, responsive, and student-centered mental health support is significantly reinforced.

Abstract

Sumberjaya Village is a coastal community known as a traditional salted-fish production center, supported by abundant marine resources such as anchovy, grouper, tuna, snapper, and shrimp. Despite its potential, the drying process still relies heavily on conventional sun drying, making production vulnerable to weather conditions. During the rainy season, production frequently halts, product quality declines, and community income drops significantly. Through the BIMA Community Service Grant Program, the implementing team introduced an innovative Solar-Powered Greenhouse Dryer to address these challenges. This technology enables year-round drying in a hygienic, efficient, and environmentally friendly manner, producing cleaner and longer-lasting salted fish with higher market value. In addition to technological intervention, the program also provided training in business management, basic financial recording, digital marketing, and product legality assistance, including PIRT, NIB, and halal labeling. This integrated approach strengthened production capacity, enhanced community skills, and reinforced local institutional resilience. Overall, the synergy between appropriate technology and community capacity building has transformed Sumberjaya Village into a model of modern green-technology-based salted-fish processing, serving as a best-practice example of sustainable coastal economic empowerment in Indonesia.

Abstract

Normal concrete is another building material that is most widely used in the construction industry. Concrete is meant by reinforcing steel (wire, woven wire) in the concrete cross-section to improve tensile and flexural resistance. The concrete section transfers tensile stress to the reinforcing steel section, which has better tensile strength. Polymer materials that are more resistant to rust can also be used as reinforcement materials. Basically, concrete is made from a mixture of aggregates (fine and coarse), cement, water, and additives. In a concrete mix, the fine and coarse aggregates are bound to the cement matrix. The cement reaction between water and minerals in cement produces a strong matrix, holds the aggregate in place and gives the concrete compressive strength properties. In the current industrial era, material selection for a normal concrete feasibility test is quite challenging due to finding quality materials. Through a series of material feasibility tests for normal concrete mixtures, it is hoped that quality control will be in the use of superior materials. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of PT Jaya Beton Indonesia. Based on the properties test data on the aggregate and concrete materials, it can be concluded that the aggregate materials have met the specifications of the Indonesian National Standard and IJASE. So that the material can be used in the normal concrete mix plan stage (job mix formula) regarding the provisions of the grain gradation using the normal concrete manufacturing method listed in SNI 7656 of 2012 concerning Procedures for Making Normal Concrete. From the results of the trial mix of concrete in Table 20, the authors decided to use the concrete quality f'c 30 MPa with consideration of the effects of the compressive strength of the concrete being relatively stable in terms of deviation. Keywords: test aggregate properties, normal concrete aggregates, material characteristics, concrete mix
