Abstract

Ikan selar bentong (Selar crumenophthalmus) merupakan salah satu ikan pelagis kecil yang banyak terdapat di perairan Gorontalo dan memiliki nilai ekonomis penting. Hasil perikanan samping berupa tulang ikan masih jarang dimanfaatkan, meskipun kandungan proteinnya cukup tinggi dan berpotensi menghasilkan produk bernilai fungsional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi hidrolisat protein tulang ikan selar bentong serta mengaktifkan aktivitas antioksidannya. Hidrolisis dilakukan menggunakan enzim papain dengan konsentrasi 2%, 4%, dan 6% selama 4 jam pada kondisi optimal. Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi kadar protein, derajat hidrolisis, uji kualitatif asam amino, serta aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode ABTS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar protein tulang ikan meningkat dari 10,47% pada kondisi mentah menjadi 33,19% pada konsentrasi enzim 2%, 35,08% pada konsentrasi 4%, dan 37,35% pada konsentrasi 6%. Nilai derajat hidrolisis juga meningkat dengan penambahan enzim, dengan nilai tertinggi 83,16% pada konsentrasi 6%. Aktivitas antioksidan terbaik ditunjukkan pada konsentrasi enzim 6% dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 0,98 mg/mL, mendekati vitamin C (0,12 mg/mL). Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah hidrolisat protein tulang ikan selar bentong berpotensi sebagai sumber antioksidan alami yang dapat diterapkan dalam pengembangan fungsional pangan maupun suplemen kesehatan. Abstract

Bone waste of mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis) has great potential as a natural source of calcium. The enzymatic approach using papain offers a safe, environmentally friendly method for green extraction. This study aims to evaluate the effects of variations in papain concentration on the yield and calcium content of cod fish bone hydrolysis. The method used was a one-factor Complete Random Design with four levels of papain concentration (6, 8, 10, and 12 %) and three replicates. Hydrolysis is carried out at 60 °C and pH 6.5 for 4 hours. Calcium levels were analyzed using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (SSA) at a wavelength of 422 nm. ANOVA showed that papain concentration had a significant effect on yield (p < 0.05) but not on calcium content (p > 0.05). The highest yield, 105.66%, was obtained at a 6% concentration and was influenced by post-hydrolysis water retention and residual salt retention from the buffer solution. Meanwhile, the highest calcium release was achieved at a 10% concentration of 165.63 mg/g. Hydrolysis with papain has been shown to effectively degrade the collagen matrix, releasing minerals without damaging the bone's hydroxyapatite structure. Implicitly, this study offers an efficient method for the fishery waste treatment industry to produce alternative calcium supplements, while guiding the optimization of enzyme dosage based on production-target priorities.

Abstract

The use of skincare products among teenagers is increasing alongside the growing trend of beauty, the influence of social media, and the need to maintain appearance and skin health. However, the high level of interest among teenagers in skincare is not always accompanied by adequate knowledge of cosmetic safety, particularly in identifying products containing harmful ingredients such as mercury. The purpose of this community service activity is to raise awareness of safe and mercury-free skincare products through education on cosmetic safety. The target audience for the activity is 32 SMKN 1 Boalemo students. The method of implementation involves the delivery of materials by the speaker on the subject of skincare for teenagers that is free of mercury, the dangers of mercury to health, the importance of BPOM approval, reading product labels, and critical thinking about cosmetic claims. The activity continued with a question-and-answer session and a practical demonstration through a video of cosmetics containing mercury and their impact on health. The results of the activity show that education on mercury-free skincare contributes to increasing students’ knowledge and understanding regarding the importance of choosing skincare products that are safe, legal,suited to their skin’s needs, and not easily swayed by viral products or claims of rapid skin whitening. Visual media, such as informational materials and practical demonstration videos, helped participants understand the risks of mercury-containing cosmetics in a more concrete way. This activity serves as a preventive measure to shape high school students into more critical, informed, and responsible teenage consumers when using skincare products. Thus, mercury-free skincare education is essential in school settings to strengthen cosmetic safety literacy from a young age.

Abstract

Laboratorium Botani adalah fasilitas yang dilengkapi dengan alat dan bahan untuk mempelajari berbagai aspek tumbuhan seperti melakukan kajian anatomi tumbuhan, taksonomi tumbuhan, morfologi tumbuhan, dan eksperimen dalam bidang fisiologi tumbuhan. Di Laboratorium Botani, guru dan siswa dapat melakukan berbagai eksperimen sederhana yang menyenangkan tentang tumbuhan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan praktik sederhana di laboratorium botani yang dapat diterapkan oleh guru-guru IPA di Kota Gorontalo untuk membuat pembelajaran tentang dunia tumbuhan menjadi lebih kreatif dan menyenangkan bagi siswa. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi ceramah untuk memberikan pemahaman dasar, diskusi interaktif untuk berbagi pengalaman dan menjawab pertanyaan, serta demonstrasi praktik melalui video untuk memvisualisasikan teknik-teknik sederhana yang dapat diaplikasikan dalam pengajaran. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan dan pemahaman guru-guru IPA dalam menerapkan praktik laboratorium botani sederhana. Guru-guru mampu mengintegrasikan teknik-teknik tersebut ke dalam proses pembelajaran, yang berdampak positif pada minat dan partisipasi siswa dalam belajar tentang tumbuhan. Kegiatan ini berhasil mensosialisasikan praktik laboratorium botani yang sederhana namun efektif, yang dapat digunakan oleh guru-guru IPA untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih kreatif dan menyenangkan. Peningkatan keterampilan guru dan antusiasme siswa terhadap pembelajaran botani menjadi indikasi keberhasilan program ini, yang diharapkan dapat terus dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan sains di Kota Gorontalo.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ability of XII grade high school students in solving C4 level chemistry problems based on three indicators (Differentiating, Organizing, and Attributing) using Rasch modeling. This research is a quantitative study with a non-experimental research design (survey). The results showed that the level of analyzing students with an overall percentage reached 44.3%. Analysis based on indicators, Differentiating ability reached 47.06% (sufficient category), Organizing was at 44.88% (sufficient category), and Attributing also reached 40.56% (sufficient category). The ability to analyze students in SMAN A had an average value of 0.94, SMAN B had an average value of 0.11, SMAN C had an average value of -0.09, SMAN D had an average value of -0.62 SMAN E had an average value of -0.96, SMAN F had an average value of -0.25, SMAN G had an average value of 0.18, SMAN H had an average value of -0.62, while SMAN I had an average value of -0.73.
