Abstract

Covid 19 has transformed the lecture system from offline to online and now to blended. While there are changes in the lecture system, students are still required to get a high GPA and the timeliness of graduation encourages students to experience stress. Stress can be overcome immediately if students have high coping stress, otherwise students can get depressed and even commit suicide. This research aims to improve student coping stress by using group counseling stress inoculation coping (SIT). This study involved 8 students from Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri University as the subjects and the data collection used coping stress scale while data analysis used non-parametric statistic, Wilcoxon test. The result shows 61% of students have moderate stress coping, 16% high, and 23% low. Wilcoxon test shows Asymp. Sig 0.012 on coping stress, problem focused coping, and emotional focused coping. More specifically, Wilcoxon test shows 1) Asymp. Sig 0.011 on seeking information support, planful problem solving; distancing, self-control, and accepting responsibility; 2) Asymp. Sig value 0.012 on confrontative coping; 3) Asymp. Sig value 0.017 on positive reappraisal; 4) Asymp. Sig 0.093 on ascape; and 5) Asymp. Sig value 0.518 on seeking social emotional. It can be concluded that group counseling stress inoculation training technique is effective to improve stress coping including improving problem focused coping and emotional focused coping. In addition, group counseling is effective for increasing coping stress behaviors such as seeking information support, confrontative coping, planful problem solving, distancing, self-control, accepting responsibility, and positive reappraisal. As well as effective for reducing ascape and seeking social emotional.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the high academic and social demands experienced by students in faith-based schools, which can contribute to low self-esteem. These differentiated demands prompt students to compare themselves with peers in public schools and to evaluate their abilities, physical conditions, and economic status negatively, leading to feelings of inferiority in social interactions and academic performance. This pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest and posttest design examined the effectiveness of a psychodrama hand-puppet intervention in enhancing students’ self-esteem. A purposive sampling technique was used to select 10 students from MA Sirojul Hikmah who had the lowest self-esteem scores based on a self-esteem scale adapted to local cultural values and Islamic principles (Cronbach’s α = .816; item–total correlations > .30). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed a 77.6% improvement in self-esteem, with the mean score increasing from 76 prior to the intervention to 135 afterward. The Wilcoxon test indicated that the psychodrama hand-puppet intervention was effective in increasing students’ self-esteem (p = .005). Psychodrama also significantly improved the dimensions of significance (p = .005), competence (p = .005), power (p = .005), and virtue (p = .005). These findings offer practical implications for Islamic schools (madrasah and pesantren) by providing an alternative intervention to foster more positive self-esteem among students. Future research should consider larger sample sizes, alternative research designs, and variation in gender and coping strategies to obtain more comprehensive results.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and test the feasibility of an e-sociometry model, awebsite-based e-sociometry model as an instrument for assessing students' needs. This research uses the Borg and Gall model with ten stages but is limited to the fourth stage (feasibility test) due to time and cost considerations. Data collection was carried out through interviews for the preliminary study and expert validation questionnaires to assess the feasibility of the e-sociometry model, while data analysis of the expert validation results used the Aiken's V formula. The interview results revealed technical and analytical constraints in the previous sociometry and that it had not been integrated with Profil Pelajar Pancasila, which is one of the educational goals. Furthermore, the feasibility test showed a score of 0.87, indicating that the e-sociometry model is considered valid or feasible to use. This finding can serve as a solution for guidance and counseling teachers in accurately identifying students' social problems, ultimately leading to the design of appropriate social guidance and counseling services
