Abstract

Children with mental retardation have a 2.5 times higher risk of child sexual abuse (CSA) than other normal children. Mentally retarded children tend to experience verbal ability barriers in describing CSA cases. This study aims to describe the prevention of CSA by parents, teachers and health professionals, including the risk of CSA in mentally retarded children, need for CSA prevention, form of CSA prevention and effectiveness of CSA prevention in mentally retarded children. Method: PRISMA was used as a guide in compiling the systematic literature review based on the inclusion criteria to determine research articles, search strategies, and research findings. Four databases used in this research included Sage Journal, Ebsco Host, Scopus and Taylor & Francis (Social Sciences & Humanities Subject). Results: mentally retarded children have a higher risk of CSA than other normal children. The need for CSA prevention are felt by parents and teachers because of the lack of knowledge and ability to do prevention. The form of CSA prevention can be done with various efforts from various parties including parents. The CSA prevention program through role-play or training to face threatening situations is effective for mentally retarded children. It is expected that these findings will become a reference for nurses in ensuring the need for CSA prevention knowledge and ability for mentally disabled children.

Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying that often occurs in elementary school-age children is a severe problem that has an impact both physically and psychologically. Bullying in elementary school must be prevented immediately so that it does not become a habit that will be carried into adulthood. The purpose was to increase knowledge and assertive behaviour and the formation of anti-bullying cadres. The method used was health education and cadre training by providing a pretest and posttest. A knowledge questionnaire on bullying prevention was given to 60 elementary school students from 3 elementary schools in Pasie Nan Tigo Village, Lubuk Buaya Health Center, Koto Tangah District, Padang City. The results of this training found that students' average knowledge increased after being given health education. This training can increase students' knowledge and assertive behaviour about bullying prevention. Cadres are expected to prevent bullying in elementary school-age children so that life in the neighbourhood and school can run in peace and safety.

Abstract

Stunting is a worldwide issue that affects children, in which Indonesia has a high stunting rate of 36.4 percent of children stunted. Stunting has a significant negative impact on children's growth and development including nutritional status. To avoid this, it is vital to discover the problem as soon as feasible. The Card to Health (Kartu Menuju Sehat/KMS) and the Denver II instrument can be used for early detection, as well as child growth and development examinations. However, kindergarten teachers, who are on the front lines of education, do not yet have access to KMS and Denver II. The purpose of this activity is to increase teachers' abilities to diagnose stunting in children at a young age using KMS and Denver II. During the months of August to November 2019, the Pelangi Islamic Kindergarten in Depok carried out community service activities. Thirteen teachers and 18 pupils took part in the activity. As a result, 100 percent of teachers improved their ability to use KMS, and up to three children were classified as fat, one had autism, and one had reservations about Denver II. At the Pelangi Islamic Kindergarten, no students are considered stunted. Stunting and nutritional status can be detected by community service activities, and teachers' capacity to detect stunting and nutritional status using KMS and Denver II can be improved significantly.

Abstract

Stunting and anaemia in pregnant women are global conditions that are interrelated with the risk of declining health status in children and pregnant women. Anaemia in pregnant women poses a risk of stunting in children, impacting growth and development, brain function, immune system, and learning abilities. For this reason, the purpose of community service is to detect the early risk of stunting in children and anaemia in pregnant women. The method used is an anthropometric examination of toddlers and pregnant women using weight, height, upper arm circumference, and haemoglobin examination to detect the risk of stunting and anaemia. Inspection and measurement data were processed using KMS online and SPSS and presented descriptively in frequency distribution tables and central tendency values. This activity was carried out at the Durian Tiga Batang Posyandu, Kuranji Health Center, Padang City, on 10 August 2023. Data was collected on 50 infants/toddlers and nine pregnant women who visited the Posyandu. The examination revealed that 48% of infants and toddlers were at risk of stunting (short and very short stature), and 11.1% of pregnant women had anaemia. Thus, early detection of stunting through the online KMS application facilitates data interpretation so that it can provide information quickly and recommend further treatment to mothers to achieve ideal child height growth. In addition, early detection of anaemia can prevent stunting in children.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood, where in adolescent girls it is marked by menstruation, breast enlargement, hips, and so on. As a result of these changes, adolescent girls are at risk of experiencing nutritional deficiencies in their bodies which can lead to anemia. Anemia is a condition where there is a lack of hemoglobin levels in the body, the impact of which will be seen now and in the future. Dysmenorrhea is also the most common disorder experienced by women, especially adolescents, during the menstrual cycle. Dysmenorrhea can have an impact on daily activities, but many adolescent girls still do not know the factors related to the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea, so health education is needed. The purpose of this activity was to provide health education about the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia in adolescent girls and to conduct Hb level checks. This community service activity was carried out by providing education with slides and videos related to the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia in 100 female students at SMP N 31 Padang. Adolescents will complete a knowledge and attitude questionnaire regarding anemia and primary dysmenorrhea before and after the intervention. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls regarding the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia. The results of Hb examinations in adolescent girls found that 6% of adolescent girls had anemia. It is hoped that this health education can be carried out periodically so that young women can have the right knowledge and a positive attitude in dealing with problems such as dysmenorrhea or anemia.
