Abstract

Red rice rice planted on dry land needs to get attention. Drought is an obstacle to increasing production on rainfed land and even irrigated fields in the dry season. What if planting is done together? it will be easier to plant by mixing legume and non-legume plants compared to blocking it apart in a mixed cropping. From the results and research, it can be concluded that: joint planting between brown upland rice and beans is obtained: the highest dry weight of straw on growing media is from Kuripan. The highest root length at giving 100% water to the growing media comes from rice plants in Kuripan. The highest dry weight of rice roots in the growing medium is from Kuripan. Kuripan also has the highest dry weight of rice roots from the growing media with 50% water supply and the greater leaf area on the growing media with 100% water supply is from Bayan

Abstract

Until now farmers still use synthetic chemical pesticides in eradicating pests and diseases. On the one hand, the use of synthetic chemical pesticides is beneficial because of the poison power or the ability to kill pests and diseases that are high and fast, but the excessive use of toxic pesticides, in addition to the increasingly resistant pests and diseases to pesticide poisons, can also pollute the environment. In addition, pesticide poisons tend to increase in price, so that economically it does not increase production value. Community service is carried out in the form of agricultural counseling, carried out in Mekar Sari Village, Gunung Sari District, aiming that farmers have better knowledge and are willing to implement integrated pest and disease control (IPM) methods on rice plants. This counseling material was delivered with lecture techniques, then followed by question and answer sessions. The agricultural extension activities in Mekar Sari Village, Gunung Sari Subdistrict went smoothly and most of the extension participants were able to increase their knowledge to be better, so that they were expected to increase their understanding and be able to apply the technology

Abstract

Rice is the main basic need for most Indonesian people. Mataram District as one of the sub-districts in Mataram City has a fairly dense population, so the availability of rice is very important, on the other hand, productive land in this sub-district is getting narrower so that rice supplies from other areas are needed. This study aims to determine the origin of the rice supply area and then analyze the marketing channels of rice in the Mataram sub-district, Mataram City. Based on the results of the study, it was found that all regencies on the island of Lombok supply rice to Mataram District, in addition, 2 regencies outside the island of Lombok also supply rice to various sales centers in this sub-district, namely Sumbawa Besar District and West Sumbawa. Analysis of marketing channels obtained results where there are three patterns of rice marketing channels in Mataram District. Channel I, where farmers sell wet unhulled rice to middlemen (middlemen) and then sell them to wholesalers and then supply rice to traders at retailers and then to final consumers. Channel II, farmers sell grain to collectors and then directly to retailers and final consumers and Channel III, farmers sell directly to retailers to be sold directly to final consumers. The marketing margin for channel I is the largest, and the marketing margin is the smallest for channel III. Farmer's share is largest in marketing channel III (81.25%) while the lowest is in marketing channel I (72.33%). Based on the ratio of costs and results, channel III has the highest ratio so that it is said to be the most efficient

Abstract

Shellfish are the Bivalvia Group which is one of the source of animal protein. After harvested, all fishery products, including shellfish, experienced rigor mortis which is an indicator of quality changes. Rigor mortis affect the texture of shellfish and caused the softening due to the activity of proteolytic enzymes. This review aims to provide information, of how Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) plays a major role in changing the postharvest quality of shellfish and how to maintain its postharvest quality. Based on the literature study, it was found that rigor mortis is a process in which fishery products lose their flexibility due to increased muscle tension and correlates with a decrease in ATP. The degradation of ATP components begins 6 hours after harvest, especially in high temperature. In general, shellfish becomes soft quickly during storage which indicates damage. The harvest process and storage conditions influence postmortem changes. Various types of cooling systems have been widely used to preserve shellfish at temperatures of -4 to 0℃: cold storage, ice water, shaved ice, dry ice and ozone-shaved ice combinations. Shelf life can be extended by storage at sub-zero temperatures. Storage temperature can limit softening by reducing protease activity. Cooling temperatures can be advantageous in maintaining freshness and suppressing the growth of harmful microbes.

Abstract

Problems of food additives are one component of various nutritional problems in society. The main cause is a lack of understanding and knowledge from the food industry players, followed by a lack of user or consumer attention to the quality and safety of the food consumed. Housewives play a very important role in the quality and safety of food within the family. This study aims to determine the extent about the housewives knowledge of using food additives. This research was conducted using a survey method with respondents who have children under five in the West Pajang Environment, Pejanggik Subdistrict, Mataram. The data collected from 66 respondents was obtained with Ms. Excel 2010. The results of the study indicated that the knowledge of mothers in the Pajang Barat environment, Pejanggik Subdistrict, Mataram City, regarding the use of BTP was in the very good category, especially in the definition of BTP, the types of preservatives and the effects of using BTP in the long term. Meanwhile, the attitude of the mothers has been good, except for the attitude to pay attention to the packaging labels before buying snacks. From these results we can be seen that there is a tendency between education, level of knowledge and attitudes shown by mothers in West Pajang regarding the use of good food additives
