Islam considers working as a virtue and essential for the fulfilment of one’s basic living needs. However, the effect of Islamic religiosity on Islamic work ethics (IWE) has not been thoroughly examined. This study conceptualizes the relationship between Islamic religiosity and IWE. Additionally, it hypothesizes the moderation of income level, education level, and religious education background between Islamic religiosity and IWE. The findings will contribute novel knowledge on the relationship between Islamic religiosity and IWE. Islamic religiosity is expected to positively influence IWE. Income level, religious education background, and education level are expected to positively moderate between Islamic religiosity and IWE.

Abstract

The modern lifestyles have resulted in physical inactivity and sedentary behavior which cause a lot of chronic illnesses. The benefits of exercising are becoming widespread knowledge but it is still challenging to change our behavior to a healthier one. The prior works in the literature in the field of behavior change are divided into two major groups: positive and negative reinforcement. Positive reinforcements’ work are more popular in encouraging exercise but negative reinforcements are more focused on other behavior change fields such as quit smoking therapy and children’s behavior modification. Our study aims to apply negative reinforcements for promoting exercise habit. In our experiments, we observed the behavior of 10 participants to perform physical activities such as running, jogging, and cycling, under the negative reinforcements’ influence. We collected an initial deposit from the treatment groups and a portion of the deposit was returned per exercise only when they meet our goal for the week. The experiment lasted for 3 weeks with increasing goals every week. We found that the treatment groups performed better in attaining the weekly goals relative to the control group with the negative intervention having a significant effect on motivating users to exercise.

Abstract

The rise of online gambling in society is increasingly concerning. The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) found that financial transactions related to online gambling reached IDR 101 trillion until the first quarter of 2024. Raids carried out by the authorities often catch online gambling perpetrators not only adults but also teenagers. The method used in this community service activity is to conduct presentations in delivering materials and interactive discussions with participants. The activity results show that most teenagers gamble online because they start with curiosity and want to know. Hence, they decide to try it first until they finally become addicted. This community service activity is one of the activities that support the Aceh Government's efforts to eradicate gambling activities, especially in the West Aceh Region. The results of this activity are expected to provide awareness and early prevention for teenagers so that they do not fall too far into activities that are not beneficial and have many negative effects that will ultimately hinder the productivity of teenagers

Abstract

The increasingly lucrative Muslim market has caught much attention from Muslim and non-Muslim tourism service providers. They have begun offering services and products that suit the demands and needs of Muslims, while still maintaining their non-Muslim clienteles. Different qualifiers have been used to terms such kind of tourism, including halal, Islamic, Sharīʿah, and Muslim-friendly. There is currently a large disparity among stakeholders of such tourism in the understanding of the meaning and scope of these terms, which could lead to severe misunderstandings among them. This paper attempts to elucidate the similarities and differences of those terms and promote the appropriate usage for each term. It also discusses the implications of each term and how it may affect the perception of Muslim and non-Muslim travelers.
