Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate nutrition value and optimum time of spontaneous bioconversionof tamarind seed. This research was conducted using complete random design experimental methodswith five bioconversion time treatments ie R0 0 hour; R1 24 hours; R2 48 hours; R3 72 hours; and R4 96hours respectively and each treatment consist of four replications. The data were then analysis usingvariants analysis and Duncan’s test. The research variable was nutrition value of tamarind seed spontaneousbioconversion. Results showed that spontaneous bioconvertion was not effecting to dry matter, crude fiber,and crude fat but effected to ash, crude protein, and metabolism energy and the best treatment wasspontaneous bio-conversion until 72 hours and make decreasing at 96 hours treatment Based on thoseresult, for getting the best result,it is suggesting to use spontaneous bioconversion until 72 hours.

Abstract

Commonly, native chicken is raised in an extensive management system. The chickens were free toscavenge in the backyard, and eat a wide variety of feeds including, rice, corn, insects, or even grit. Grit is anabrasive material that can help to grind feedstuffs and use as a source of mineral for chicken. In anintensive farming system, native chickens are given full feeding program throughout the production period,without grit. The objective of this research was to study the development of gastrointestinal tract andcarcass bone of native chickens supplemented to grit. Eighty chickens were used in the study usingrandomized block design. The four treatments were: R0 = basal feeds without grit ; R1 = R0 + grit 0,25% ofbody weight ; R2 = R0 + grit 0,50% of body weight ; R3 = R0 + grit 0,75% of body weight. The results showedthat administration of grit up to the level of 0.75% body weight significantly increased grit consumption,digestive tract length, gizzard weight and carcass bone weight of native chicken.

Abstract

Goat and Chicken Fecal Fermentation with Lontar Sap as Chicken Feed. The effect of goat faces and chicken faces on the chemical characteristic and production performance of native chicken were investigated. The experiment was conducted in two parts. In the first parts, goat faces and chicken faces were fermented with different level of palm tree sap. In the second experiment, the feeding value of fermented goat faces and chicken faces was evaluated. Both experiments were conducted as a complete randomized design consisting of four treatments. The level of palm tree nira used in the first experiment was 0, 5, 10 and 15% respectively. The diets, in mash form, were fed ad libitum to four pens of ten mix native chicken each from week 12 to 16 post-hatch. ?????? The result showed that as the level of nira lontar increased, the chemical composition of fermented goat faces and chicken faces increased. Abstract

Since the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Animal Husbandry-State Agricultural Polytechnic of Kupang (Politani Kupang) and the farmer’s group of Tuatuka village in East Kupang district of Kupang regency, the department have carried out various and gradual community service programs at the location. However, problems the farmers are still facing in breeding their pig livestock are: limited capital to increase business scale and availability of feed and the low quality of livestock breeds. As a continuation of the activities that have been initiated previously, the Animal Feed Technology (TPT) study program initiated to help partner farmers by building a system of partnership cooperation that can help overcome some of the problems faced, especially related to the availability of animal feed. Based on the situation analysis that has been carried out at the location, the study program has determined the topic of the community service which is: "Starter Feed Processing for Supporting Pig Fattening in Partership with ‘Sehati’Farmer’s group of Tuatuka Village". By doing so, it is expected to support the farmers in establishing a stronger foundation of pig breeding and fattening.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Sehati merupakan kelompok tani yang telah bermitra dengan  Jurusan Peternakan Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang dalam kegiatan penggemukkan ternak babi  sejak Tahun 2019. Kegiatan kemitraan ini telah memberikan manfaat dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan anggota kelompok tani tentang manajemen dan model kemitraan penggemukan ternak babi dalam kerangka peningkatan skala usaha dan pendapatan dari usaha penggemukan. Namun kegiatan ini telah terhenti  akibat mengalami kerugian yang disebabkan oleh wabah penyakit virus African Swine Fever (ASF). Kendala modal merupakan salah satu faktor penghambat dalam memulai lagi usaha penggemukkan babi selain faktor terbatasnya pengetahuan dalam pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit khususnya penyakit seperti African Swine Fever (ASF) serta bagiamana memperkuat sistem kemitraan yang dibangun menuju kemandirian kelompok tani. Tujuan kegiatan adalah menerapkan program kemitraan melalui aktifitas penggemukan ternak babi di kelompok Sehati. Metode kegiatan meliputi: diskusi bersama pengurus  kelompok tani, pengadaan dan distribusi sarana produksi ternak, penyuluhan dan demplot serta monitoring dan evaluasi.. Hasil kegiatan adalah usaha ternak babi (penggemukkan) tetap dijalankan dengan penguatan sistim kemitraan yang telah dilaksanakan sebelum wabah penyakit  African Swine Fever (ASF), telah memenuhi harapan mitra dengan jumlah bibit yang digemukan sebanyak 8 ekor dan telah meningkatkan pengetahuan peternak tentang biosecurity dalam  pengendalaian wabah penyakit menular.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan peternak dalam penggemukan ternak babi yang aman dan sehat untuk dikonsumsi. Tujuan jangka panjangnya adalah meningkatkan pendapatan peternak babi di desa Tuatuka, Kabupaten Kupang.  Kegiatan PKM ini telah dilaksanakan pada tahun  2022 di kelompok tani Sehati di kelurahan Tuatuka, Kabupaten Kupang.  Sebanyak 8 ekor ternak babi fase grower yang terdiri dari 5 ekor jantan dan 3 ekor betina digunakan dalam kegiatan PKM ini dan dipelihara selama 6 bulan. Pakan yang digunakan adalah pakan komplit ternak babi fase grower yang diproduksi di Pabrik Mini Pakan Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang. Metode pelaksanaan PKM ini adalah demonstrasi plot, penyuluhan dan diskusi. Pakan yang diproduksi dan diserahkan kepada kelompok Tani Sehati merupakan pakan yang aman dan sehat. Persyaratan mutu pakan dan upaya pencegahan dan pengendalian dampak racun jamur merupakan materi penyuluan yang disampaikan kepada kelompok tani Sehati. Hasil PKM menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok tani Sehati tentang persyaratan mutu pakan, racun jamur dan bahayanya serta upaya kontrol kualitas pakan babi saat produksi dan selama penyimpanan meningkat. Simpulannya, kegiatan PKM meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kelompok tani Sehati untuk beternak babi yang aman dan sehat untuk dikonsumsi.Kata kunci : Aflatoksin, kontrol kualitas, kualitas pakan, okratoksin A, racun jamur

Abstract

Zeolite Natural Ende (ZNE) is a local material from Ende, East Nusa Tenggara which can be used as an adsorbent candidate to reduce environmental pollution due to poultry farm wastes. The purpose of this study is to obtain optimal conditions and adsorption kinetics of ZNE as an adsorbent in terms of absorbing NH3, water content, and neutralizing pH on broiler litter. This study consisted of 3 stages such as sample preparation, optimization of acid concentration, particle size, contact time, adsorbate concentration, as well as determination of ZNE-methylene blue adsorption kinetics. The results of the analysis revealed that the best conditions are using 1 M H2SO4, particle size 80 mesh, contact time for 30 minutes with an adsorption capacity of 1.999 mg/g, and methylene blue 80 ppm as an optimal condition. Furthermore, ZNE-methylene blue adsorption kinetics model is the second order type 1 kinetics by R2 = 1, and also adsorption rate constant is 0.0019 g.mg-1.min

Abstract

Kelompok tani Sehati  merupakan mitra kegiatan pengabdian ini. Kegiatan pengabdian  dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap seperti persiapan, pelaksanaan dan pendampingan. Pada persiapan dilakukan pembuatan pakan ternak yang dilakukan di Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang (PPNK) dengan bantuan para mahasiswa, selain itu disiapkan juga materi penyuluhan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan penyuluhan baik oral maupun tertulis dalam bentuk leaflet. Pendampingan dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian dari jurusan peternakan PPNK. Hasil kegiatan ini anggota kelompok tani dibekali dengan pengetahuan tentang pakan ternak babi fase pertumbuhan, dilakukan penyerahan pakan dan  penanganan kastrasi ternak babi jantan. Pendampingan dilakukan tim pengabdian jurusan Peternakan PPNK  hingga ternak babi hasil penggemukan dipasarkan. Disimpulkan bahwa peternak mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan pakan yang disampaikan pada materi penyuluhan  maupun pada media tertulis. Kastrasi dilakukan dengan  baik dan pendampingan terus dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian jurusan Peternakan.

Abstract

The trial had the objective to examine the safe level of Moringa meal used for 10 weeks old super kampong chickens. The super kampong chickens in the trial were distributed into 20 experimental pens (8 chickens/replication). The study was conducted under completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The treatments were as follows: P0 (control), P1 (5% MLM), P2 (7.5% MLM), and P3 (10% MLM). The statistical analysis revealed that the treatment considerably influenced the diet intake (DI), body weight gain (BWG), as well as feed per gain (FPG). The use of Moringa powder produced better bird’s performance than those allotted in basal diets. In conclusion, 1) the safe inclusion level of Moringa powder in a balance nutrient diet was up to 10% 2) the addition of Moringa increased the palatability of the diets, leading to the improvement of DI, BWG and FPG.

Abstract

Abstract  Rearing a chicken broiler in a litter system cage use litter material. The requirement of a good litter material were should have high water absorption, low water content, and nontoxic. Using litter material can affect of performance the broiler. The study aimed to know the effect of lemongrass (C. nardus) distillation waste as litter materials on temperature, pH, and broiler chicken performance. The study used 175-day-old chickens (DOC) that were divided into 5 treatments consisting of 7 chickens each with 5 replication. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the treatment consisted of levels of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% of lemongrass distillation waste and 100% of rice husk does not have a significant effect on temperature, pH, feed consumption, and feed conversion ratio but have a significant effect (p <0.05) on body weight gain compared to controls. The conclusion of the study was that lemongrass distillation waste can be recommended as a litter material in rearing chicken broiler. Syarat bahan litter adalah penyerapan air yang tinggi, kadar air yang rendah dan tidak beracun. Penggunaan bahan litter dapat mempengaruhi performa ayam broiler. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengkaji penggunaan limbah penyulingan sereh wangi sebagai litter terhadap suhu litter, pH litter dan performa ayam broiler. Ayam yang digunakan dalam penelitian yakni ayam  broiler umur  sehari (DOC) sebanyak 175 ekor yang dirancang dalam 5 perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan menggunakan 5 ulangan dan setiap ulangan terdiri dari 7 ekor ayam. Rancangan yang digunakan RAL. Data dianalisis dengan Analysis of Variance (Anova), dilanjutkan dengan Uji Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan  25%, 50%, 75%, 100% limbah penyulingan sereh wangi dan 100% sekam padi sebagai litter berpengaruh tidak signifikan terhadap suhu litter, pH litter, konsumsi pakan dan konversi pakan sedangkan berpengaruh signifikan (p<0,05) terhadap pertambahan bobot badan ayam broiler dibanding dengan kontrol. Kesimpulan dari penelitian adalah limbah penyulingan sereh wangi dapat direkomendasi sebagai litter pada pemeliharaan ayam broiler.  Kata kunci: Broiler; Limbah penyulingan sereh wangi; Performa; pH;  Suhu
