Abstract

Four major skills in communicating through language are often broadly defined as listening, listening and speaking, reading and writing. In many situations where English is taught for general purposes, these skills should be carefully integrated and used to perform as many genuinely communicative tasks as possible. Where this is the case, it is important for the test writer to concentrate on those types of test items which appear directly relevant to the ability to use language for real-life communication, especially in oral interaction. Thus, questions which test the ability to understand and respond appropriately to polite request, advice, instructions, etc. would be preferred to tests of reading aloud or telling stories. In the written section of a test, questions requiring students to write letters, memos, reports and messages would be used in place of many of the more traditional compositions used in the past.

Abstract

Children learn naturally when they are having fun. Children feel more comfortable and confident when they know what to expect. Repetition is essential children often need to hear words and phrases many times before they feel ready to produce them themselves. Established a routine for your English time at hom, it is better to have short, frequent sessions than long, infrequent ones. Fifteen minutes is enough for very young children. Parents can gradually make sessions longer as child gets older and their concentration span increases. Parents have to enthusiastic and give children lots of encouragement andpraise. Children will pick up on enthusiasm for the language. Whatever parents approach, the most important thing is to relax, have fun and make English an enjoyable experience for both parents and child. Many parents are eager to help their kids learn English from a young age. One of the most important factors in teaching foreign languages to young children is helping them form positive perceptions of communicating with foreign languages.A great advantage of early childhood second language exposure is that it helps children form a positive impression of foreign languages. When children are exposed to a foreign language from a very young age, they tend to view the language positively andlearning another language becomes something they are very comfortable with. However, if you force a young child to speak a second language even when they are resisting, you run the risk of creating a negative impression of that language.

Abstract

Pembelajaran kooperatif berdasarkan metode pembelajaran yang mana siswa bekerja sama dalam satu kelompok kecil untuk saling membantu dalam pembelajaran satu materi tertentu. Gambar berseri adalah salah satu media dalam mengajar Bahasa Inggris, Gambar berseri adalah model media yang sangat menarik untuk dipelajari terutama gambar yang beragam. Kemampuan speaking adalah salah satu kemampuan yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris. Speaking adalah kemampuan yang luas karena fokusnya terdiri dari pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, dan kecepatan. Speaking untuk siswa SMA membutuhkan kooperatif learning menggunakan media gambar yang bias meningkatkan kemampuan siswa. Siswa dapat dengan tenang jika belajar menggunakan metode kooperatif learning dengan gambar berseri karena siswa lebih menikmati dalam proses belajar dan pembelajaran. Penggunaan kooperatif learning nyatanya dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam speaking, gambar tidak hanya sebagai media tapi juga sebagai pusat konsentrasi siswa. Abstract

Pentingnya penguasaan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi terdapat dalam beberapa poin Standar Kompetensi Lulusan Sekolah Menengah. High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) didefinisikan sebagai keterampilan memberikan penilaian yang bijak dalam mengkritisi sesuatu menggunakan alasan logis dan ilmiah. Tujuan pembelajaran, salah satunya adalah menjadikan peserta didik mampu mengungkapkan argumentasi, melakukan refleksi, dan membuat keputusan yang tepat. Menulis (writing) adalah tindakan yang terjadi dalam konteks mencapai tujuan tertentu dan dirancang dengan tepat untuk audiens yang dituju. Kemampuan menulis (writing) merupakan aspek keterampilan bahasa yang paling sulit dikuasai oleh peserta didik karena mearupakan bahasa kedua atau bahasa asing mereka. Implementasi metode High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) sangat berpengaruh pada peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa di SMK Negeri 3 Pameksan. Dengan menggunakan metode ini membuat siswa bisa memunculkan ide kreatif sehingga memudahkan mereka untuk menggabungkan ide-ide yang sebelumnya sulit dilakukan.

Abstract

Abstract Semantic learns about meaning of word, phrase and sentence. Lexical is a form of semantic that study about meaning of word and meaning relationships among word or phrase. This research is aimed to identify the lexical meaning and types of lexical meaning found in Surah Al-Bayyinah. Surah Al-Bayyinah is 98th surah on Al- Qur’an, which consists of eight verses.. The design of this research by the form of qualitative method since the researcher conducts the analysis on Surah Al-Bayyinah. In this research, the researcher uses Lyon’s theory to analyze semantics in lexical meaning on surah Al-Bayyinah. The result of this research show there are three types of lexical meaning found on surah Al-Bayyinah consist of synonym with eighteen words in 7 verses, connotative with four words or phrases in 4 verses and denotative with four words or phrases in 4 verses.Researcher suggest the reader and the next researcher who interest to make this research as reference, the reader and the next researcher can conduct other style of lexical meaning on Al-Qur’an or song with other branch of linguistic. Researcher hope this research will be useful by the reader and the next researcher. Keywords: Semantic, Lexical, Surah Al-Bayyinah

Abstract

The aim of this analysis is focused on figurative language. Figurative language is very interesting to analyze because many people have difficulty in understanding about the types of figurative language and the meaning of lines or lyrics by using figurative language. The purpose of this research is to study an analysis of figurative language in Maher Zains Album 2013. This study uses descriptive qualitative research, because the data in the form of texts and Maher Zain songs lyrics which contain many types of figurative language. From 5 songs such as: hold my hand, Insya Allah, for the rest of my life, thank you Allah, and Palestine will be free. From these five songs the researcher found 10 figurative language namely: simile, metaphor, personification, litotes, antithesis, alliteration, euphemism, parallelism, hyperbole, irony. The conclusion of this research is there are some kinds of figurative language use by Maher Zain in his song. This study is very useful for other researchers who want to do research in figurative language analysis with other literary works.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the use of the Elsa Speak application and the listening achievement of class XI IPA students at MA Al-Djufri, involving 26 students. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire and test, which showed that students obtained an average score of 89.62 after using the application. The results of the study showed a significant positive correlation, with a correlation coefficient of 0.670, which indicates that regular use of the Elsa Speak application can improve listening achievement. This shows that the application plays an important role in improving students' listening achievement, which confirms a strong relationship between the use of the application and students' listening achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of word chain games in learning English vocabulary and its impact on the involvement of students in class XI-S7 at MA Miftahul Ulum Bettet Pamekasan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the word chain game was able to increase students' active participation during the learning process, help strengthen the memory of the vocabulary that had been learned, and create a fun and interactive learning atmosphere. In addition, this method also makes students more enthusiastic and confident in using new vocabulary. Thus, word chain game can be considered as an effective alternative strategy in English vocabulary learning at MA level. The use of this method is highly recommended to improve the quality of teaching-learning process which does not only focus on memorization, but also involves students actively.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve students' speaking skills in speaking classes. This goal is based on a strong desire for students to be able to involve expressions and expand ideas in telling a picture. This research uses the classroom action research (CAR) method which consists of four steps, including: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data analysis used is a qualitative descriptive analysis technique. Criteria for success in this research is about increasing student's speaking ability at the third semester with an average completion score reaching 75%. Based on the results of the action, it can be concluded that student improvement with complete achievement. This is proven by the changes occurred from cycle I at 31.5%, cycle II at 52.6% and finally cycle III reached 78.9% which indicates that the student’s ability to tell stories has increased from previously not appearing to appear. This shows that image media can improve speaking ability to students in college.

Abstract

Nowadays English send to be the crucial language in the world. The existence of English subject should be focus on the grammar. Because grammar stated as the complicated thing in English. This study focused on simple present tense, teaching English subject especially in simple present tense generally make students felt bored because they did not feel confidence and felt difficult in understanding the material. Here, EGRA method to be alternative of the problem in which the EGRA method can make make students more enthusiastically in learning and confident in simple present tense. EGRA is an acronym of four major learning styles for student’s confidence and confidence, namely Exposure, Generalization, Reinforcement, and Application. Many researcher found that teaching by using EGRA method give well understanding for students in learning a new language. It can be shown that students become more creative, active and communicative in the class. The success of learning also depend on the method used by the teacher. Here the EGRA method used to fulfill the needed of student.
