Abstract

In the September 16-22, 2019, edition of Tempo, the magazine cover was shown painting a picture of President Joko Widodo’s face with his long nose like a Pinocchio wooden doll. One year later, Tempo republished the magazine cover by displaying a picture of the same figure, namely Pinocchio. But this time in the background of the DPR plenary session on the 11-25 October 2020 edition. This study examines the sign's meaning, the repetition factor in the sign, and the attractiveness of the Tempo magazine cover. The qualitative research method used in this research is the semiotic approach of Charles Sanders Peirce. This research produces a representation of meaning on the two covers, a form of people’s disappointment in public officials for the discrepancy between their words and actions. The factor of repetition of the “Pinocchio” sign that occurs on both covers based on data and facts is found repeatedly. The attractiveness of the Tempo magazine cover includes characteristics, point of view, and target audience, and this attraction results in a business strategy for Tempo magazine.

Abstract

Abstract. The threat of a global economic recession is taking the world by storm and has been predicted to occur in 2023. An economic recession is a condition that has a negative impact on society and the economy of a country. When an economic recession occurs, unemployment will increase because many companies lay off workers to reduce their operational costs. Through the issues that are currently happening among Generation Z, as well as the consumptive behavior that occurs, a recession is likely to have an impact on Generation Z. Excessive consumptive lifestyle behavior can have a significant negative impact, both individually and socially. In the midst of the issue of the 2023 recession that will occur and allow Indonesia to be affected, Raymon Chin uploads educational content on his YouTube channel about why recessions can occur to what preparations must be prepared to face the upcoming global economic crisis. The purpose of this research is to answer the formulation of the problem, namely to find out the characteristics, understanding and meaning of generation Z towards educational content impressions about the recession on Raymon Chin's YouTube channel. To answer the research objectives, researchers used a qualitative approach with a reception or meaning analysis study, and conducted in-depth interviews with informants who were then selected purposively. The results of audience interpretation in this study show that informants are in a hegemony position and an opposition position. This research also shows how audiences interpret the concept of video shows on the recession issue on Raymon Chin's YouTube channel. This study also found different characteristics of each audience, which were influenced by the background of the informants. Abstrak. Ancaman resesi ekonomi global tengah menggemparkan dunia dan telah diprediksi akan terjadi pada tahun 2023. Resesi ekonomi merupakan kondisi yang berdampak negatif pada masyarakat dan perekonomian suatu negara. Ketika terjadi resesi ekonomi, pengangguran akan meningkat karena banyak perusahaan yang melakukan pemutusan hubungan kerja untuk mengurangi biaya operasional mereka. Melalui isu yang tengah terjadi di kalangan generasi Z saat ini, serta perilaku konsumtif yang terjadi mengakibatkan resesi yang memungkinkan berdampak terhadap genrasi Z. Perilaku pola hidup konsumtif yang berlebihan dapat memberikan dampak negative yang signifikan, baik secara individu maupun secara sosial. Di tengah isu resesi 2023 yang akan terjadi dan memungkinkan negara Indonesia terkena dampaknya, Raymon Chin mengunggah konten edukasi di channel YouTube nya mengenai kenapa resesi dapat terjadi hingga persiapan apa saja yang harus dipersiapkan untuk menghadapi krisis ekonomi global mendatang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah dapat menjawab rumusan masalah yaitu untuk mengetahui karakteristik, pemahaman serta pemaknaan generasi Z terhadap tayangan konten edukasi mengenai resesi dalam channel YouTube milik Raymon Chin. Untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi analisis resepsi atau pemaknaan, dan melakukan wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview) terhadap informan yang kemudian dipilih secara purposive. Hasil pemaknaan khalayak dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan informan berada pada posisi hegemoni dan posisi oposisi. Penelitian ini juga menunjukan bagaimana khalayak memaknai konsep dari tayangan video mengenai isu resesi di channel YouTube Raymon Chin. Dalam penelitian ini juga ditemukan karakteristik yang berbeda dari setiap khalayak, yang dipengaruhi oleh latar belakangi informan.

Abstract

Abstract. Hoax information as digital technology is increasingly changing, it is very possible for all people to receive it. These changes can have both positive and negative impacts depending on the user. If not equipped with good knowledge, this will have a bad impact on the recipient. Without going through the process of sorting out information, one can easily trust the information circulating. This background is the reason for the researcher to conduct research with the title Mechanism of the Fact Check Program in West Java Saber Hoaks Case Study on the Implementation of the Fact Check Program in several high schools carried out by Jabar Saber Hoaks. Objective The purpose of this research is to find out the fact-checking mechanism used by Jabar Saber Hoaks in implementing their program, and why they target the younger generation, especially high school students for implementing their program. This research method uses qualitative data collection by means of interviews, observation, and documentation. The paradigm in this study uses post-positivism. This research aims to produce a fact-checking process and mechanism that they target the younger generation as well as reasons that support the importance of the younger generation needing assistance with the hoax fact-checking mechanism This research resulted in determining the veracity of information on the fact-checking mechanism activities in West Java Saber Hoaks, referring to the source of information related to the origin of the news. If there are no results on the official platform for the correctness of the information, West Java Saber Hoaks will contact the relevant parties if it is still possible to contacted. Jabar Saber Hoaks carries out a fact checking program in several high schools with its outreach program called Billion Facts. This program is specifically for the younger generation through the website owned by Jabar Saber Hoaks. This program aims to increase digital literacy knowledge for the younger generation. As a generation that will bring change to Indonesia, it is important to carry out a fact checking mechanism because this will help them be more critical in receiving information, so they will not be trapped in the narrative of news. Abstrak. Informasi hoaks seiring teknologi digital yang semakin berubah, sangat memungkinkan seluruh kalangan dapat menerimanya. Perubahan ini dapat berdampak positif dan negatif tergantung pada penggunanya. Jika tidak dibekali dengan pengetahuan yang baik, hal ini akan memberikan dampak yang buruk bagi penerima. Tanpa melalui proses pemilahan informasi, dapat dengan mudah mempercayai informasi yang beredar. Latar belakang tersebut menjadikan alasan peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian dengan judul Mekanisme Program Cek Fakta di Jabar Saber Hoaks Studi Kasus Pada Pelaksanaan Program Cek Fakta dibeberapa SMA yang dilakukan Oleh Jabar Saber Hoaks. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui mekanisme cek fakta yang dilakukan Jabar Saber Hoaks dalam pelaksanaan programnya, dan mengapa mereka menargetkan generasi muda khususnya siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas untuk pelaksanaan programnya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Paradigma dalam penelitian ini menggunakan post-positivisme. Penelitian ini menghasilkan, dalam menentukan kebenaran informasi kegiatan mekanisme cek fakta di Jabar Saber Hoaks, merujuk pada sumber informasi yang berkaitan dengan asal berita tersebut, apabila dalam platform resmi belum ada hasil kebenaran informasinya, pihak Jabar Saber Hoaks akan menghubungi pihak terkait apabila masih memungkinkan untuk dihubungi. Jabar Saber Hoaks melaksanakan program cek fakta di beberapa SMA dengan program sosialisasinya yang disebut Milarian Fakta. Program ini yang dikhususkan untuk generasi muda melalui website yang dimiliki Jabar Saber Hoaks. Program ini memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan literasi digital bagi generasi muda. Sebagai generasi yang akan membawa perubahan untuk Indonesia, mekanisme cek fakta penting untuk dilakukan karena hal ini akan membantu mereka lebih kritis menerima suatu informasi, sehingga tidak akan terjebak dalam narasi suatu berita.

Abstract

Abstrak. Literasi digital penting dikembangkan, karena menjadi kompetensi dari peralihan bacaan fisik menjadi digital melalui perangkat yang terhubung jaringan internet. Namun penyalahgunaan internet banyak terjadi akibat ketidakefektifan, seperti kasus kejahatan siber yang memanfaatkan data diri seseorang. Penggunaan tersebut memerlukan penerapan keamanan digital, terlebih di kalangan mahasiswa yang seringkali menggunakan akun digital. Keamanan digital dari pilar Literasi Digital pada program “Indonesia Makin Cakap Digital”, sebagaimana terdapat empat indikator, yaitu: (1) Proteksi perangkat digital; (2) Perlindungan identitas digital; (3) Mewaspadai penipuan digital; dan (4) Rekam jejak digital, perlu diterapkan. Tujuan penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana efektivitas penerapan keamanan digital. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif, dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Populasinya adalah mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam LKM dan UKM di UNISBA, sedangkan sampel diambil melalui teknik non probability sampling dengan pendekatan sampling kuota. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui survei dan studi kepustakaan. Teknik analisis data diolah dengan statistik deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indikator (1) dan (3) cukup efektif diterapkan, sedangkan indikator (2) dan (4) sudah efektif diterapkan. Abstract. Digital literacy is important to develop, because it is a competency. However, internet misuse often occurs due to ineffectiveness, such as cases of cybercrime that utilize a person's personal data. This use requires the implementation of digital security, especially among students who often use digital accounts. Digital security from the Digital Literacy pillar in the "Indonesia Makin Cakap Digital" program, as there are four indicators, namely: (1) Protection of digital devices; (2) Digital identity protection; (3) Be aware of digital fraud; and (4) Digital track records need to be implemented. The aim of this research is to find out how effective the implementation of digital security is. This research method uses quantitative, with a descriptive approach. The population is students who are members of LKM and UKM at UNISBA, while the sample was taken using a non-probability sampling technique with a quota sampling approach. Data collection techniques through surveys and literature studies. Data analysis techniques are processed using descriptive statistics. The results of the research show that indicators (1) and (3) are quite effectively implemented, while indicators (2) and (4) have been effectively implemented.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara literasi media digital dan penyebaran hoaks di kalangan Generasi Z di SMA 5 Negeri Tambun Selatan, Bekasi. Literasi media digital didefinisikan sebagai kemampuan untuk mengakses, menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mengkomunikasikan informasi dalam berbagai format digital. Melalui pendekatan kuantitatif, data dikumpulkan dari siswa SMA 5 Negeri Tambun Selatan menggunakan kuesioner. Analisis statistik korelasi spearmen digunakan untuk menentukan hubungan antara variabel literasi media digital dan penyebaran hoaks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara literasi media digital dan penyebaran hoaks di kalangan Generasi Z, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,577. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan literasi media digital di kalangan siswa sebagai upaya untuk melawan penyebaran hoaks dan membangun masyarakat yang lebih kritis terhadap informasi digital. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berharga bagi pendidik, orang tua, dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya dalam memperkuat literasi digital siswa dan masyarakat secara luas. Abstract. The study aims to identify the link between digital media literacy and the spread of hoaks among Generation Z in the 5th high school in South Tambun State, Bekasi. Digital media literacy is defined as the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and communicate information in a variety of digital formats. Through a quantitative approach, data is collected from high school students of the 5th State of South Tambun using a questionnaire. Pearson's correlation statistical analysis is used to determine the relationship between the digital media literacy variable and the spread of hoaks. The findings reaffirm the importance of developing digital media literacy among students as an effort to combat the spread of hoaks and build a more critical society towards digital information. This research provides valuable insights for educators, parents, and other stakeholders in strengthening the digital literacy of students and society at large.

Abstract

The digitalization of modern society requires older generations to adapt to internet-based communication, but age-related limitations often hinder this transition. This study explores the proficiency of elderly participants in using chat applications through the Senior Digital Academy (ADL) program by Tular Nalar Mafindo. Using a descriptive qualitative method, surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted with 61 senior participants. Findings show that while seniors understand basic chat application features and their potential negative impacts, they face challenges like digital literacy gaps, technological anxiety, and physical limitations. Many struggle with advanced features such as multimedia sharing, privacy settings, and group management. Vision impairments, reduced motor skills, and cognitive decline further complicate their use of digital tools. Despite these obstacles, participants express a strong willingness to learn and recognize the importance of staying connected through digital platforms. The study emphasizes the need for tailored digital literacy programs to address the specific needs of older adults, enabling them to navigate the digital world more effectively. Empowering seniors through digital literacy not only fosters social connectivity and independence but also mitigates risks like misinformation, hate speech, and fraud, ensuring their inclusion and safety in an increasingly online society.

Abstract

Online classes are a training approach that utilizes technology to increase training effectiveness, flexibility and interactiveness, at formal and non-formal education levels. This article explored communication skills in optimizing the Tular Nalar Training of Trainers (ToT) digital class. In the context of ToT, the Tular Nalar online class allowed prospective facilitators to participate directly via virtual space, the material could be accessed at any time and was equipped with interaction via WhatsApp groups. The Tular Nalar ToT program aimed to produce Sekolah Kebangsaan Facilitators and Akademi Digital Lansia, which was held in 38 provinces in Indonesia. January 2025 noted that ToT involved 3,481 participants who took part in online training to become facilitators who would deliver material about the Tular Nalar Program. This article used a qualitative descriptive approach in two cities, Makassar and Kendari, especially in the implementation of Akademi Digital Lansia. The in-depth interviews and observations in this article provided an analysis and description of the communication challenges of trainers and potential facilitators during ToT in online classes. Technological barriers, materials provided, and interactions required to ensure that facilitators were competent in delivering Akademi Digital Lansia materials.  Prospective facilitators also face time differences during ToT, lack of interaction, limited discussion space, and material that was not fully understood. Interestingly, with these various limitations, these problems could be overcome with open interaction and good communication between trainers via WhatsApp, both individually and in groups. This showed that every facilitator and trainer needed to develop communication skills, local context, and technological support to become a good facilitator in implementing Akademi Digital Lansia Program.
