Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the important contributions to reducing maternal mortality, infant mortality, economic and environmental benefits. However, mothers still face many barriers during exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to explain the perceived barriers to breastfeeding and find the most dominant barriers to breastfeeding. This type of research is quantitative research with analytic observational design and case-control method. The number of respondents in this study was 86 breastfeeding mothers, with a division of 43 mothers into case groups and 43 mothers into control groups. Sampling was determined by simple random sampling technique using an online number randomization application, namely random generator. Data were obtained from an original survey using an online questionnaire distributed through a social media platform in the form of a google form link. The results showed that barriers to exclusive breastfeeding from the social aspect, namely inadequate support from health care providers, were the most visible, followed by barriers from the maternal and infant aspects. Lack of health worker support (AOR= 22.621) was considered the main barrier to exclusive breastfeeding for six months among mothers in Gorontalo City, Indonesia. This was followed by lack of knowledge on breastfeeding. The lowest barrier was family support. Research on barriers to exclusive breastfeeding can help nurses and midwives develop breastfeeding promotion programs to increase exclusive breastfeeding among women in Gorontalo City, Indonesia.

Abstract

The phenomenon of childbirth from year to year with the increasing caesarean section method and increasingly sophisticated caesarean section methods has made the scope of midwifery services narrower. One method that is currently being developed is the Eracs method of delivery by caesarean section. Where with this method many pregnant women are tempted by the word "painless", where many pregnant women with a fairly high percentage choose to deliver with this method without indications and without regard to the effects on the reproductive organs in the future. The aim is to carry out outreach to pregnant women about comfortable delivery in pregnant women with the "Gentle Birth" method. The results of this counseling are to increase pregnant women's knowledge about safe and comfortable childbirth, both normal and caesarean section. The counseling went well, in an orderly manner, and the pregnant women were very happy with the material provided, which can be seen from the enthusiasm of the mothers while participating in the counseling

Abstract

Adolescence is the transition to adulthood between the ages of 10 and 19. One of the biological signs of this stage is early menstruation (menarche). Dysmenorrhea occurs at the onset of menstruation. Uterine pain that happens before or during menstruation is a sign of dysmenorrhea. This discomfort disrupts adolescents' activities, making it difficult for them to concentrate while studying, due to dysmenorrhea. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of carrot juice in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in adolescents. The design of this study is a one-group pretest-posttest design. All adolescent girls aged 14-19 years at the Ngoro Adolescent Posyandu in Ngoro District participated in this study. A purposive sampling technique was used in this study, with a sample size of 37 adolescent girls. Observation sheets and facial pain scales were used to measure dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. The independent variable in this study is carrot juice, and the dependent variable is menstrual pain. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that 20 adolescent girls (54.1%) experienced less pain before carrot juice therapy, and 22 adolescent girls (59.5%) experienced no pain after carrot juice therapy. On the third day, the P-value = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H1 is accepted, meaning that the administration of carrot juice has an effect on the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls in the working area of the Ngoro Public Health Center, Ngoro District, Jombang Regency.
