Abstract

Mangrove litter has a very important function for the mangrove ecosystem, including to maintain the fertility of the forest soil in question. This study aims to determine the production and rate of decomposition in the Gununganyar Mangrove Tourism Area. The study was conducted by installing a litter net or litter-trap as a container for fallen mangrove leaves, this was done to determine the productivity of mangrove leaf litter, litter collection on the litter-trap was carried out for 1 month and was taken at 30-day intervals and installed a litter-bag for placing mangrove leaf litter. The litter production at Station 1, Station 2 and Station 3 was 194.976 kg/ha/month, 681.84 kg/ha/month, 925.275 kg/ha/month. The results of the litter decomposition rate in the Gununganyar Mangrove Tourism Area from Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3 were 97.95%, 60.35% and 89.25%, respectively.

Abstract

  Coral reefs are a habitat for more than 300 types of coral, 200 species of fish, and various other invertebrates such as molluscs, crustaceans, sponges, algae, and other biotas. Sea anemones are sea animals from the Anthozoa taxonomic class, which are flower-shaped. Clownfish have an attractiveness with its the color which has a basic color pattern with a combination: red - white, red - black and black - yellow - white. The purpose of this research is to analyze the condition of the corals and the abundance of clownfish on Gili Labak Island, Sumenep. This research was conducted in October 2021 on Gili Labak Island, Sumenep. The method used to collect data on the condition of coral reefs is using a belt transect with a length of 50 m parallel to the shoreline to collect data on the abundance of clownfish using the UVC (underwater visual census) method and to collect data on brightness, salinity, temperature and current velocity using in situ data (direct). The results obtained from this research is the relationship between coral reef conditions and clownfish, namely a positive correlation with a coefficient of determination (R²) = 0.8048. The relationship between coral reef conditions and sea anemone abundance is a negative correlation with the coefficient of determination (R²) = 0.2049.

Abstract

The Wonorejo mangrove area is a mangrove forest area that has innovated into an ecotourism area, resulting in a lot of garbage found in the mangrove forest area from visitors. Inorganic waste is waste produced from non-biological materials in the form of synthetic products or the result of technological processes for managing mining materials or natural resources and cannot be decomposed by nature, for example plastic. Mangrove vegetation at the seedling level is rejuvenation from sprouts to a height of 1.5 m. The objectives of the study were to identify the density of inorganic waste in the mangrove vegetation at the seedling level, to analyze the density of the vegetation at the seedling level, to analyze the impact of inorganic waste on the growth of the vegetation at the seedling level. The method used to measure the density of mangroves and waste density using Line Plot Transects. The most waste found was 46 plastic bottles, and other inorganic waste found was styrofoam, and the density of seedlings was 2200 seedlings/ha. The relationship between waste density and seedling density showed (R²) of 0.8399 which indicated that the negative correlation was the more waste, the less seedlings. The impact caused by inorganic waste can threaten mangrove plants, especially at the seedling level and the life of the biota in the ecosystem.

Abstract

Brondong District, Lamongan Regency has many types of mangroves in the coastal area and has a coastline reaching 47 km, Lamongan Regency and a mangrove forest area of around 53.37 Ha.This research aims to determine the types and characteristics of mangroves. The method used is explorative survey.The results of the study showed that Brodong District, Lamongan Regency had various types of mangroves as many as 6 types of mangroves consisting of Avicennia marina, Avicennia alba, Rhizophora mucronata Rhizophora stylosa, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza and Sonneratia alba.

Abstract

Abstract

The potential of Indonesian marine commodities is quite promising, one of which is fish. Handling treatment is very important and absolutely applied before capture, during capture, transport and distribution, processing, marketing and shipping. The placement of fish is very important to the quality of the fish and the effectiveness of the cooling system in the cool box.      Fishermen usually put fish carelessly into the hold/cool box, this is very likely to reduce the quality of the catch. So it is necessary to take action to reduce the decline in fish quality and maximise cooling in the cool box. This study aims to determine the effect of fish placement model variations on cold air circulation in the cool box on a purse seine vessel using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). There are two variations of the model used, namely variation model 1 (fish placement position aligned longitudinally) and variation model 2 (fish placement position arranged crosswise). Modelling using Rhinocheros software, then numerical simulation using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Numerical simulation results show the best velocity contour is in model 1  with the highest velocity of 22 m/s and temperature distribution shows the temperature contour at points 1, 2 and 3 there is a decrease in temperature 271 K (-2ºC), 268 K (-5ºC) and 266 K (-7ºC).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari spons laut yang diambil dari Perairan PLTU Paiton terhadap bakteri patogen Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Escherichia coli dan Escherichia coli MDR (Multi Drug Resistant). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode experimental laboratory. Sampel yang ditemukan berjumlah 3 spons dan dimaserasi menggunakan pelarut metanol dengan pengulangan 3 kali. Hasil pasta ekstrak spons diujikan dengan metode difusi cakram terhadap bakteri patogen S. aureus, V. parahaemolyticus, E. coli dan E. coli MDR. Uji antibakteri menggunakan konsentrasi 10 mg/ml dengan pengulangan 2 kali. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa PPJT05 menghasilkan zona hambat lebih dari 2,4 mm pada keempat bakteri patogen yang diujikan. Ekstrak PPJT02 menghasilkan zona hambat tertinggi terhadap bakteri V. parahaemolyticus. Aktivitas antibakteri S. aureus tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh ekstrak PPJT05. Aktivitas antibakteri E. coli tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh ekstrak PPJT05. Aktivitas antibakteri E. coli MDR tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh ekstrak PPJT05. Ekstrak PPJT03 tidak menunjukkan keaktifan terhadap bakteri E. coli MDR meskipun ekstrak ini aktif terhadap bakteri lainnya. Ekstrak PPJT02, PPJT03 dan PPJT05 memiliki senyawa antibakteri berspektrum luas ditandai dengan kemampuan zona hambat terhadap bakteri gram positif dan gram negatif. Kata Kunci: Antibakteri, Spons, S. aureus, V. parahaemolyticus, PLTU Paiton.

Abstract

Phyllorhiza punctata merupakan spesies asing invasif. Kebanyakan ubur-ubur memakan zooplankton, sebagai produktivitas primer bagi semua ekosistem perairan. Phyllorhiza punctata telah ditemukan dalam jumlah besar di perairan Ancol Jakarta pada tahun 2018. Ditemukannya Phyllorhiza punctata  di Pantai Pasir Panjang Singkawang Kalimantan Barat pada Juni 2024 memunginkan akan merugikan ekosistem. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kondisi kualitas perairan apakah dapat mendukung pertumbuhan Phyllorhiza punctate. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengamatan visual keberadaan Phyllorhiza punctate disekitar Pantai Pasir Panjang Singkawang dan Pengukuran Kualitas Air seperti Salinitas, Suhu dan Kecepatan Arus secara in-situ. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perairan di kawasan pantai Pasir Panjang memiliki suhu air yang hangat, hal ini dapat membuat populasi Phyllorhiza punctate meningkat dengan cepat. Keberadaan Pantai Pasir Panjang yang berada didekat pelabuhan Internasional Kijing juga memungkinkan  menjadi salah satu penyebab masuknya Phyllorhiza punctate. Hal ini sesuai dengan hipotesis bahwa polip yang sedang tumbuh mungkin menempel pada kapal, atau terbawa dalam tangki pemberat kapal yang kemudian dibuang. Kondisi perairan hangat dengan suhu rata-rata 30 ⁰C dan salinitas 32 ppt akan mendukung pertumbuhan Phyllorhiza punctate, hal ini tentu akan merugikan mengingat setiap ubur-ubur dapat membersihkan 50 m3 air yang berisi plankton dalam satu hari, menjadikan kumpulan ubur-ubur Phyllorhiza punctata yang padat menjadi berbahaya karena dapat mengubah jaring makanan di kolom air.  Phyllorhiza punctata is an invasive species. Like most jellyfish, they feed on zooplankton, which is important to all aquatic ecosystems. Phyllorhiza punctata was found in large numbers in the waters of Ancol Jakarta in 2018. The discovery of Phyllorhiza punctata in the Pasir Panjang Beach, Singkawang, West Kalimantan at June 2024 is likely to be detrimental to the ecosystem. The aim of this research is to find out whether water quality conditions can support the growth of Phyllorhiza punctate.The method used is a visual observation of the presence of Phyllorhiza punctate around Pasir Panjang Singkawang Beach and in-situ measurement of water quality such as salinity, temperature and current speed. This research shows that the waters in the Pasir Panjang coastal area experience a "Loop current" or warm ocean current, which causes the population of Phyllorhiza punctate to increase rapidly. The existence of Pasir Panjang Beach which is near the Kijing International port may also be one of the causes of the entry of Phyllorhiza punctate. This is consistent with the hypothesis that the growing polyp may be attached to the ship, or carried in the ship's ballast tanks and then thrown away. Warm water conditions with an average temperature of 30 ⁰C and salinity of 32 ppt will support the growth of Phyllorhiza punctate, this will certainly be detrimental considering that each jellyfish can clean 50 cubic meters of water containing plankton in one day, creating a collection of Phyllorhiza punctata jellyfish Dense ones are dangerous because they can change the food web in the water column.
