Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of social issues represented in the poetry anthology Suara dari Kelas Kecil. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a sociology of literature approach. The data consist of words, phrases, and poetic lines found in ten selected poems that reflect social realities and social criticism. Data were collected through library research and close reading techniques, then analyzed by classifying and interpreting the identified social issues based on their thematic relevance. The findings indicate that the poems in Suara dari Kelas Kecil portray various social issues that reflect contemporary societal conditions. These issues include poverty, crime, social conflict, violations of social norms, discrimination, and corruption. Poverty is depicted through the portrayal of marginalized groups struggling to meet basic needs, while crime and corruption are presented as structural problems resulting from weak moral values and ineffective governance. Social conflict and norm violations emerge from injustice and power imbalance, whereas discrimination reflects unequal treatment toward certain social groups. This study concludes that the poems in Suara dari Kelas Kecil function not only as aesthetic literary expressions but also as a medium of social criticism that voices the concerns of marginalized communities. Through a sociology of literature perspective, the anthology demonstrates that poetry plays a significant role in reflecting social realities and fostering critical awareness among readers regarding ongoing social problems.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the social reality in the novel Merindu Cahaya de Amstel by Arumi Ekowati. This study is a type of library research. The data collection techniques used are reading techniques and note-taking techniques. The data in this study were analyzed using a sociology of literature approach. Based on the results of the study in the novel Merindu Cahaya de Amstel by Arumi Ekowati and the conclusion there is a social reality about family disorganization, the existence of family relationship breakdowns and its impact on individuals in building identity and facing social life, social reality about culture oriented towards diaspora and cultural identity, multicultural interaction, cultural heritage and cultural preservation, social reality about religion oriented towards spiritual journey, challenges in practicing Islamic teachings, and how a convert struggles to maintain his faith, social reality about education oriented towards access, support, and academic dynamics in the education system, social reality about the economy oriented towards survival strategies and individual financial independence in facing economic challenges, social reality about the problems of the younger generation in modern society oriented towards independence, challenges in finding work, economic struggles, to the search for the meaning of life, and social reality about violations of community norms on awareness of human rights, protection of women, and individual struggles to uphold justice in the face of acts of violence or coercion.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji proses pembentukan dan fungsi sosial bahasa prokem dalam grup WhatsApp mahasiswa PBSI melalui perspektif sosiolinguistik digital. Kajian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perkembangan komunikasi digital informal yang mendorong mahasiswa menggunakan bentuk bahasa yang ringkas, ekspresif, dan bermakna sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengklasifikasikan proses pembentukan bahasa prokem, menjelaskan fungsi sosialnya, serta membedakannya dari singkatan institusional resmi. Penelitian menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari dokumentasi percakapan WhatsApp melalui teknik dokumentasi, simak, dan catat, kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan bentuk asal, proses pembentukan, fungsi tuturan, dan konteks interaksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa prokem terbentuk melalui pemendekan ortografis, singkatan digital, paduan suku kata, peminjaman dan adaptasi, permainan fonologis atau ortografis, slang leksikal, serta inversi. Secara sosial, bentuk-bentuk tersebut berfungsi mendukung efisiensi pesan, solidaritas, ekspresi afektif, evaluasi, dan koordinasi tindakan. Penelitian ini menawarkan taksonomi yang lebih jelas untuk menganalisis bahasa gaul digital Indonesia.
