Abstract

Dalam rangka bertahan di pesantren, santri akan membangun pertemanan sebagai bentuk sosialisasi diri mereka. Konteks pertemanan menuntut pemenuhan kebutuhan dalam bentuk kapital sosial santri di pesantren. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana kapital sosial santri digunakan dalam membangun hubungan pertemanan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan multiple source of evidence dengan menggunakan wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat lima aspek yang memudahkan terbentuknya pertemanan santri di pesantren. Lima aspek tersebut merupakan kapital sosial yang dimiliki santri dalam memenuhi kebutuhan santri lain antara lain:Pengakuan, Keperluan, Dukungan Ego, Dorongan dan Solidaritas. Kelima aspek ini berasal dari kapital kultural yang terdapat pada santri untuk memperoleh manfaat keanggotaannya di pesantren. Kapital kultural santri berasal dari kualifikasi akademik, material, serta kepribadian santri dalam memberikan semangat, motivasi dan rasa aman.

Abstract

The existence of cultural differences in an area causes the phenomenon of culture shock. Capital becomes a person's need to carry out activities in an area or arena that has a different background in order to adapt. This study aims to find out how forms of capital adapt to culture shock in overseas students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach using case studies. The data collection method uses the Multiple Source of Evidence principle, by conducting in-depth interviews and participant observation of several students who experience culture shock. The results of the study show that there are three aspects of social capital that help to adapt to the environment of overseas students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. These three aspects are Ability to communicate, Socialization ability into culture, and Solidarity. These three aspects come from the cultural capital found in overseas students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta in meeting the needs of culture shock adaptation in Solo.

Abstract

Film is one of the media that is considered effective for telling messages because it is easily received and well felt by the audience. The Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap movie presents a family conflict that the researcher will use as a background to see the formed reception. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods through the reception analysis approach of Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding model to determine the acceptance of messages received by overseas students regarding the family conflict in the Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap movie. Based on the decoding results of the research conducted, the audience actively creates meaning for family conflicts in the film. The results showed that most informants were in a dominant position who accepted that the film tell about family conflicts, especially conflicts between parents and children and between siblings. Meanwhile, some informants are in a negotiated position who see conflict in the form of wrong communication patterns but have their own perspective on the meaning in the film.

Abstract

Smartphones are devices equipped with numerous fascinating features, leading people to become increasingly attached to and dependent on this technology. However, in Gunung Village, there are still relatively few individuals who can utilize this medium for profitable production. One example is the utilization of the smartphone camera feature for product photography. The aim of this community service is to enhance teenagers' understanding and skills in practicing the basics of product photography using a smartphone. This enhancement enables them to present their potential products more professionally. The method employed involves providing instruction on basic photography and engaging in practical product photography sessions. The focus of this service is on processed food products from the partners. The outcomes of this service were significant, as evidenced by an average increase of 34.28% in test results regarding product photography material. Additionally, participants successfully produced product photos aligned with the objectives and techniques of product photography.

Abstract

Pelanggan surat kabar cetak menjadi sebuah fenomena unik di era digital. Keberadaan mereka memberikan gambaran bagaimana surat kabar menjadi sebuah media cetak yang belum memudar dalam situasi konvergensi media. Pelanggan memiliki ideologi media yang menggambarkan alasan bagi mereka untuk tetap menjadikan surat kabar tersebut sebagai salah satu sumber informasi primer. Konsep ideologi media dalam penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif ideologi media yang dipaparkan oleh Ilana Gershon. Hal yang menarik adalah ideologi media mampu membuat seorang pelanggan konsisten dalam mengadopsi dan bahkan mengubah perspektif mereka terhadap media lainnya. Penelitian mengenai ideologi media pelanggan surat kabar ini bertujuan membongkar aspek-aspek fundamental terkait motif berlangganan surat kabar cetak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui in-depth interview yang dijawab oleh empat pelanggan surat kabar yang dipilih secara purposive. Construct validity digunakan dengan cara meninjau dari beberapa sumber bukti yaitu primer dan sekunder. Data primer berasal dari informan dan sekunder berasal dari literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan beberapa aspek yang melandasi ideologi media pelanggan surat kabar yaitu kenyamanan, kredibilitas, dan kompleksitas. Bagi pelanggan, tiga aspek ini menjadi beberapa pertimbangan dalam menggunakan surat kabar cetak. Terlepas dari bagaimana lama atau baru sebuah media informasi, tiga aspek preferensi tersebut diyakini informan sebagai ideologi media dalam memilih surat kabar cetak sebagai informasi utama mereka.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to identify how meaning is related to social inequality in the Netflix series Arcane. Methodology: The method used in this research is qualitative content analysis using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory analysis. The sampling technique in this research used a purposive sampling technique. The data collection method in this research is documentation. The data validity technique used is the data triangulation technique. Results: The research results show that there are two categories that appear in the Netflix series Arcane. First, the representation of social inequalities that emerge includes educational inequality, ethical inequality, housing inequality, and economic inequality. Second, marginalization as a form of symbolic violence. This research seeks to identify how meaning is related to social inequality in the Netflix series Arcane. Applications/Originality/Value: The differences in this research include the research object, literature, and theory used, as well as research results.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to analyze how cosplayers self-disclose via Instagram social media. This research is interesting to research because of the increasing popularity and openness of cosplayers holding their events in society where it used to be very rare to find cosplay events in the general public before Covid-19. Methodology: This research uses descriptive qualitative types and types with a positivism paradigm. Researchers used a purposive sampling technique to determine the data source. The informants used in this research were around 19 - 25 years old. The theory used is the self-disclosure theory of Joseph Luth and Harry Ingham (Johari Window). The data collection technique used in this research used observation and interviews. Data analysis refers to the Miles and Huberman model. The validity of the data uses triangulation from one information to another obtained through the interview. Results: The research results show that cosplayers' self-discovery through Instagram social media is divided into three categories, namely skills as self-expression, discomfort as social control and self-clarification. Applications/Originality/Value: This research seeks to find out how the self-disclosure process is analyzed using the quadrants of the Johari Window theory. The differences in this research include the object of research, the context used digital but using case studies instead of social, the recency of the place and research results.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the characteristics of online game top-up fraud victims on social media, especially teenagers. Advances in technology and internet access have changed the way people seek entertainment, including online games, but have also triggered fraud in top-up transactions. This research identifies factors that make teenagers vulnerable to becoming victims, such as attractive promotions, many account followers, and low prices. Data was collected through observations and interviews with teenagers who have been victims of online game top-up scams. The results show that victims are generally teenagers aged 21 and under who are easily trusting, often find out about top-up services through social media such as Instagram, and tend to trust accounts recommended by friends or family. Promotional factors, number of followers, and low prices are the main drivers of transactions that lead to fraud. This research is expected to raise public awareness about the importance of vigilance in online transactions and provide insights for the development of fraud prevention strategies among teenagers.
