Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OVERWEIGHT AND HAEMOOGLOBIN (Hb) LEVEL AMONG HIGH SCHOOL FEMALE STUDENTS IN JAKARTAAnemia is one of the four nutrion problem in Indonesia and most of anemia is closely associated toiron deficiency called iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Study in USA among adolesents showed that theprevalent of IDA is higher in overweight (9.1%) than normal weight (3.1%). Another study inSwitzerland among teenage female students showed that the fat deposit in adipose tissue maydecrease iron absoption. The aim of this study is to know the relationship between overweight andhaemoglobin (Hb) level using cross sectional.The female subjects were selected purposively withcriteria as they were overweight (BMI = 25)and registered as female students at SMAN 4, SMAN 25and SMKN 38 in Jakarta. The overweight status were determined using Body Mass Index and finally35 female students were filling the criteria and willing to participate. The correlation Person test wasused to see the realtionship between overweight and Hb level.The results showed that most of thesubjects (82.9%) were categorized as obese and most of them were in the aged of 16 and 17 years(37.1% each). About 80% of the students had a normal haemoglobin level, More than half (88.6%) hada normal mentruation period. However, the Hb level less than normal (12 gr/dL) were mostly found inobese subjects (57%) rather than overweight(43%). In Hb level, 80%of them had a normalhaemoblobon level. The correlation test showed that there is no significant relationship betweenoverweight and Hb level (p=0.149, r=0.181). In needs to do the similar study with the larger group andusing iron cpncentration test in blood.Keywords: overweight, Hb status, high school female student

Abstract

Zat besi dan vitamin A mempunyai peran penting dalam pertumbuhan anak. Kekurangan kedua zat gizi tersebut mempunyai dampak yang luas terhadap, tumbuh kembang anak. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status anemia dan status vitamin A anak Indonesia. SEANUTS adalah survai status gizi anak 0,5-12,9 tahun multi-center study dengan rancangan potong lintang yang dilaksanakan pada tahun 2011 di Indonesia yang mencakup 48 kabupaten/kota. Data yang dikumpulkan antara lain biokimia darah, termasuk hemoglobin, ferritin, dan vitamin A serum. Penentuan kadar hemoglobin dengan Cyanmethemoglobin, ferritin dengan ELISA, kadar serum vitamin A menggunakan HPLC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan prevalensi anemia tertinggi ditemukan pada kelompok umur 0,5-0,9 tahun yang tinggal di perdesaan yaitu 61,9 persen dibandingkan pada kelompok umur 9,0-12,9 tahun yaitu 11,4 persen. Demikian pula dengan prevalensi kurang besi, pada kelompok umur 1,0 - 2,9 tahun sebesar 29,7 persen, sedangkan pada kelompok umur 9,0-12,9 tahun hanya 5,3 persen. Prevalensi kekurangan vitamin A di perkotaan, pada kelompok umur 1,0-2,9 tahun tidak dijumpai masalah kurang vitamin A (0,0 persen), namun di perdesaan dijumpai sebanyak 3,1 persen, sementara itu pada kelompok usia 9,0-12,9 tahun di perkotaan dijumpai sebesar 4,9 persen dan di perdesaan sebesar 4,8 persen. Anemia masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat dengan kategori berat terutama pada anak di bawah usia 3 tahun. Kekurangan zat besi lebih banyak ditemui pada anak kelompok usia dibawah 3 tahunABSTRACT VITAMIN A AND IRON STATUS OF INDONESIAN CHILDREN The aim of this study was to identify the iron and vitamin A status in Indonesian children. SEANUTS Indonesia covered children of age 0.5-12.9 years old from 48 sub-districts. The study collected biochemical parameters which included iron, ferritin and serum vitamin A status.  Hemoglobin was determined by Cyanmethemoglobin, ferritin by ELISA and serum vitamin A serum by HPLC. The prevalence of anemia was lower (11.4 %) in the older children (9.0-12.9 years) compared to younger children (0.5-0.9 years) were 61.9 % which was found in the rural area. Similarly, the prevalence of iron deficiency was lower (5.3 %) in the older children (9.0-12.9 years) compared to younger children (0.5-0.9 years) were 29.7 % which was found in the rural area. In contrast, the prevalence of retinol deficiency was higher (4.9 %) in the older children (9.0-12.9 years) compared to younger children (0.5-0.9 years) were 0,0 % which was found in the urban area, and it was higher (4.8 %) in the older children (9.0-12.9 years) compared to younger children (0.5-0.9 years) were 3.1 % which was found in the rural area.  Anemia among children under 3 years old remains a severe public health problem. Abstract

TATUS GIZI PADA KELUARGA MISKIN DI JAKARTA UTARADari berbagai masalah kekurangan zat gizi mikro di Indonesia, hanya kurang vitamin A (KVA), anemia khususnya akibat kurang zat besi, dan gangguan akibat kurang iodium (GAKI) saja yang sudah banyak diteliti. Prevalensi kekurangan zat gizi mikro tersebut masih tinggi sehingga menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat. Akan tetapi penelitian kekurangan zat gizi mikro yang lain masih terbatas. Selain itu kekurangan zat gizi mikro khususnya pada keluarga miskin masih belum banyak diteliti. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui besaran masalah kekurangan zat gizi mikro di Jakarta Utara pada 300 keluarga miskin dan 100 keluarga hampir miskin di 4 kelurahan yang mempunyai anak balita. Semua anak balita menjadi sampel penelitian, sedangkan untuk kelompok umur lain yaitu anak usia sekolah, remaja, dan dewasa hanya diambil sub -sampel. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah konsumsi makanan dan darah vena untuk dianalisis kadar hemoglobin, serum ferritin, zat seng (zinc), dan asam folat, dan data morbiditas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsumsi energi antara 1018 –1702 kkal dan protein antara 26.7– 44.3 gram per hari. Konsumsi energi dan protein masih defisit terutama pada kelompok remaja dan dewasa. Menurut sosial ekonomi, konsumsi tersebut lebih rendah pada keluarga miskin dibanding keluarga hampir miskin. Prevalensi anemia pada keluarga miskin terendah pada remaja laki-laki (5,1%) dan tertinggi pada remaja perempuan (37, 0%), sedangkan pada keluarga hampir miskin pada anak usia sekolah perempuan (13,3%) dan tertinggi pada wanita dewasa (27,8%). Prevalensi defisiensi besi pada keluarga miskin dan keluarga hampir miskin terendah pada dewasa laki-laki (0%) dan tertinggi pada remaja perempuan (37, 0%). Defisiensi zinc terendah pada anak usia sekolah laki-laki (14,6%) dan tertinggi pada anak sekolah laki-laki (30,8%) dan wanita dewasa (38,9%).Kata kunci: anemia, iron deficiency, zinc deficiency, poor family

Abstract

South-East Asian Nutrition Survey (SEANUTS) merupakan multi-center study yang dilakukan di Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand dan Vietnam yang diprakarsai oleh FrieslandCampina Belanda tahun 2011 untuk mengetahui besaran masalah gizi utama di masing-masing negara. SEANUTS merupakan studi komprehensif gizi yang mengumpulkan data antropometri gizi (berat, tinggi badan, tinggi duduk, lapisan lemak bawah kulit, lingkaran lengan atas, lebar lengan tangan, siku, lutut), biokimia gizi (vitamin A, D, Hb, ferritin, DHA), iodium urine, perkembangan mental/ kognitif dan motorik, aktivitas fisik, kualitas tulang, konsumsi makanan, dan morbiditas. Tulisan ini menjelaskan desain umum SEANUTS. Desain SEANUTS adalah studi potong lintang (cross-sectional). Sampel adalah anak umur 0,5-12,9 tahun sebanyak 7211 anak yang dipilih dengan metode two-stage randomized cluster sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, pengamatan, pengukuran, dan pemeriksaan sesuai dengan data yang dikumpulkan. Enumerator terlatih mengumpulkan data morbiditas, antropometri, aktivitas fisik, kualitas tulang, perkembangan mental dan kognisi, konsumsi makanan, urin. Pemeriksaan klinis oleh tenaga medis setempat, pengambilan darah oleh plebotomis. Tulisan-tulisan dalam nomor majalah ini berisi hasil deskriptif tentang besaran masalah gizi makro dan mikro di Indonesia, konsumsi makanan, aktivitas fisik, dan perkembangan mental, sedangkan tulisan ini menjelaskan desain umum SEANUTS

Abstract

A recent study (Fikawati, 2005) shows that the intake of calcium among teenages in Bandung was55.8% compared to Indonesian RDA aged 13-19 years (2004), in which for girl only accomplished52.5% from Indonesian RDA. This indicates that teenage girls are vulnerable to the defiicency ofcalcium. Calcium plays an important role to form teeth and bone. Furthermore, calcium is alsoinvolving in cell function regulation as a neurotransmitter, muscle contraction and bloodcoagulation, maintaining the cell membrane permeability and activator for enzyme reactions andhormone secretion. Calcium may also reduce the syndrome that commonly occurs beforemenstruation, usually called pre-menstruation syndrome (PMS). The cross sectional study wasconducted in July 2008 at State Yunior High School 232 Pisangan Timur, Eastern Jakarta. Theaim of the study is to analyze the relationship between calcium intake and PMS among yunior highschool girls students. The subjects were selected purposively and 95 subjects were chosen for thestudy. The results showed that 90,5% of the subjects had calcium intake below the IndonesianRecommended Dietary Allowance (IRDA) and most of them (88.4%) frequently experianced onPMS. The analysis indicated that those who had experienced in PMS was those who had calciumintake lower than 80% from IRDA. The analysis on the food source of calsium using Chi squaretest shows that there is a significant relationship between consumption of tempeh and PMS.Keywords: calcium intake, food pattern, PMS

Abstract

ABSTRACTIndonesia is facing a very complex health problems. Non-communicable diseases is increasing, while infectious diseases still quite dominant. Among other contributing factors is the imbalance of daily required nutrients intake. Overweight is closely associated with daily intake level of consumed foods, especially the calorie contributors such as sugar and fat, besides, excessive salt intake drives people to eat more. This article is intended to determine the intake of sugar, salt and fat of Indonesian population that is exceeding the WHO recommendations. The analysis used the data of Individual Food Consumption Survey or SKMI 2014 that collected data and asked all food consumed in the last 24 hours from 45,802 households and 145,360 household members in all provinces in Indonesia. Descriptive analysis of all 17 food groups was undertaken to calculate the intake level of sugar, salt, and fat of each individual, and also calculated the proportion based on the characteristics of age group, sex, place of residence, socio-economic, and by province as well. The analysis showed that 77 million people or 29.7 percent of Indonesia's population consumed sugar, salt, and fat exceeding WHO recommendations: sugar (> 50 g/day), salt (> 5 g/day), and fat (> 67 g/day). This should be anticipated due to the increasing trend of people with non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and stroke which have already apparent from 2007 to 2013. It was suggested to reduce the intake of sugar, salt, and fat need of the population through advocacy, counseling, socialization at schools, food and beverage industries, restaurants, factories, and other relevant institutions.ABSTRAKIndonesia menghadapi masalah kesehatan yang sangat kompleks. Penyakit tidak menular semakin meningkat, sementara penyakit menular masih cukup dominan. Faktor penyebabnya antara lain adalah tidak seimbangnya asupan zat gizi yang dibutuhkan sehari-hari. Kelebihan berat badan sangat erat kaitannya dengan konsumsi makanan sehari-hari, terutama penyumbang kalori, seperti gula dan lemak, selain asupan garam yang cenderung membuat orang untuk mengonsumsi makan lebih banyak. Artikel ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui asupan gula, garam, dan lemak penduduk Indonesia yang melebihi rekomendasi WHO. Analisis menggunakan data Survei Konsumsi Makanan Individu (SKMI) 2014 yang mengumpulkan data dan menanyakan semua yang dikonsumsi 24 jam terakhir dari 45.802 rumah tangga dan 145.360 anggota rumah tangga di seluruh provinsi di Indonesia. Analisis deskriptif dari ke-17 kelompok makanan dilakukan untuk menghitung asupan gula, garam, dan lemak (GGL) dari setiap individu, dan juga dihitung proporsi berdasarkan karakteristik: kelompok umur, jenis kelamin, tempat tinggal, sosial-ekonomi, dan juga menurut provinsi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa 29,7 persen penduduk Indonesia atau setara dengan 77 juta jiwa sudah mengonsumsi GGL melebihi rekomendasi WHO: gula (>50 gram/hari), garam (>5 gram/hari), dan lemak (>67 gram/hari). Hal ini perlu diantisipasi mengingat kecenderungan meningkatnya penderita penyakit tidak menular, seperti: obesitas, hipertensi, diabet mellitus, dan stroke yang sudah jelas dari tahun 2007 ke tahun 2013. Saran untuk mengurangi asupan GGL ini perlu segera dilakukan dengan target seluruh penduduk, melalui advokasi/penyuluhan/sosialisasi di sekolah, industri makanan-minuman, restoran, pabrik, dan institusi terkait lainnya. Abstract

SEANUTS adalah studi gizi lengkap yang mencakup pengukuran antropometri, pemeriksaan biokimia darah dan urin, konsumsi makanan dan pola makan anak, informasi mengenai sosial ekonomi keluarga, kesehatan anak, aktivitas fisik, dan perkembangan anak. Dalam makalah ini akan dibahas pertumbuhan anak berdasarkan pengukuran antropometri dengan menggunakan standar WHO 2006 untuk anak balita dan 2007 untuk anak 5,0 sampai 12,9 tahun, yang dibagi dalam 5 kelompok umur yaitu 0,5-0,9; 1,0-2,9; 3-5,9; 6,0-5,9; and 9,0-12,9 tahun. Penelitian ini adalah cross-sectional pada 48 Kabupaten/Kota di Indonesia, dan pengambilan sample dilakukan dengan two-stage randomized cluster sampling dengan stratifikasi berdasarkan area geografi, untuk menetapkan lokasi, gender dan umur. (Metodologi lengkap ditulis dalam tulisan lain di jurnal ini) yang mencakup 7211 anak terdiri dari 50,6 persen anak laki-laki dan 49,4 persen perempuan. Indeks yang digunakan adalah PB/U atau TB/U; BB/U; BB/PB atau BB/TB; dan IMT/U. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa secara nasional prevalensi anak yang pendek dan sangat pendek adalah adalah 31,4 persen, yang mana prevalensi di kota (24,4%) lebih rendah dari pada di desa (38,3%). Untuk anak dengan berat badan kurang dan sangat kurang adalah 23,2 persen; yang mana di desa (27,9%) lebih tinggi dari pada di kota (18,5%); dan prevalensi anak kurus dan sangat kurus (7,8%), di kota (7,6%) tidak jauh berbeda dengan anak yang di desa (7,9%). Masalah gizi yang juga perlu mendapat perhatian adalah gemuk dan sangat gemuk karena kecenderungan jumlahnya semakin banyak dengan prevalensi 7,9 persen. Sebanyak 10,7 persen di kota dan 5,0 persen anak di desa menderita gemuk dan sangat gemuk. Karena masalah pendek terkait kekurangan makro dan mikro, disarankan agar program kesehatan untuk 1000 hari kehidupan anak dilanjutkan yaitu pemberian tabur gizi (Multi Micromineral Powder =MNP) untuk anak gizi kurang termasuk pendek.ABSTRACT GROWTH ACHIEVEMENT OF INDONESIAN CHILDREN AGED 0.5-12.9 YEARS OLD SEANUTS is a comprehensive study conducted in 48 districts in Indonesia. The study covers assessments on antrophometry, biochemical, physical activity, morbidity, dietary consumption and psychology development. Detailed methodology of the study is presented in previous paper in this journal. In this article, only antrophometry is discussed and children are devided in 5 groups according to the age, 0.5-0.9; 1.0-2.9; 3.0-5.9; 6.0-5.9; and 9.0-12.9 years old. In this cross sectional, two-stage randomized cluster sampling was applied using stratification based on geography area for deciding the location of residence, sex and age. A total of 7211 children were recruited, consisting of 50.6 percent boys and 49.4 percent girls. Indices used were HAZ; WAZ; WHZ; and BAZ. The results showed that 31.4 percent of children were stunted and severe stunted. The prevalence was lower in urban children (24.4%) compared to rural children (38.3%). The overall prevalence of underweight (moderate and severe) was 23.2 percent which was higher in rural areas (27.9%) than in urban areas (18.5%). The overall prevalence of wasting (moderate and severe) was 7.8 percent, which was higher in rural areas (8.0%) compared to urban areas (7.6 %). An emerging problem was overweight and obesity, 7.8% of the children were overweight/obese. The prevalence was higher in urban areas (10.6%) versus rural areas (5.0%). Because stunting has closely related to macro and micro nutrients, it is recommended that nutrition intervention programs should be addressed to the first 1000 days of children’ life like MNP (Micro Nutrient Powder) for those who had undernutrition including stunting

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kepadatan tulang, aktivitas fisik, dan konsumsi makanan dengan kejadian stunting. Analisis menggunakan data anak usia 6.0 – 12.9 tahun (n=192) dari South East Asian Nutrition Survey (SEANUTS) tahun 2011.Kepadatan tulang diukur dengan metoda dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), yang dikategorikan menjadi rendah (≤ -2 SD) dan normal (> 2 SD). Aktivitas fisik dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan pedometer. Aktivitas fisik yang dikategorikan menjadi rendah (< 11,636 untuk laki-laki dan < 10,311 langkah untuk perempuan), sedang (11,636 – 15,891 langkah untuk laki-laki dan 10,311 – 14,070 langkah untuk perempuan) dan tinggi ( > 15,891 langkah untuk laki-laki dan > 14,070 langkah untuk perempuan). Konsumsi makanan dikumpulkan dengan cara 24 hours dietary recall. Konsumsi protein dikategorikan menjadi rendah (< 80% RDA) dan normal (≥ 80% RDA).  Logistic regression analysis digunakan untuk melihat hubungan antara variabel dependen dan independen. Hasil studi menunjukkan anak dengan kepadatan tulang rendah berisiko untuk menjadi stunting 5,3 kali (OR = 5,325 ; CI= 1,075 – 26,387) dibandingkan dengan anak kepadatan tulang normal.  Aktivitas fisik anak sedang (OR = 0,139 ; CI = 0,037 – 0,521) merupakan faktor protektif untuk kejadian stunting dibandingkan dengan aktivitas tinggi. Anak dengan konsumsi protein <80% dari angka kecukupan gizi (AKG) yang dianjurkan berisiko untuk menjadi stunting 6,4 kali (OR = 6,448 ; CI = 1,756 – 23,672) dibandingkan anak dengan konsumsi protein ≥80%. Selain akibat kekurangan konsumsi protein, perhatian juga perlu diberikan kepada aktivitas fisik dan kepadatan tulang anak untuk mencegah stunting dan akibat jangka panjangnya.ABSTRACT BONE MINERAL DENSITY, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, AND DIETARY INTAKES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH STUNTING IN 6-12 YEARS OLD CHILDREN This study assessed the association of stunting in schoolage children (6-12 year old) with bone mineral density (BMD), physical activity (PA), and dietary intakes. Data on 6-12 year old children (n=192) from the South East Asian Nutrition Survey (SEANUTS) 2011. BMD was measured using DXA, which was categorized into low (≤-2 SD) and normal ( > -2 SD). Physical activity (PA) was measured using pedometers. PA was categorized into low (< 11,636 steps for boys and < 10,311 steps for girls), moderate (11,636 – 15,891 steps for boys and 10,311 – 14,070 steps for girls) and high ( > 15,891 steps for boys and 14,070 steps for girls). Dietary data was collected by 24 hours dietary recall. Protein consumption is categorized into low (< 80% RDA) and normal (≥ 80% RDA). Logistic regression analysis was used to test the association. The results showed that children with low bone density(≤ -2 SD) had a 5.3 times higher risk to be stunted (OR =5.325; 95% CI=1.075 to 26.387) than children with normal bone density. Moderate physicial activity was a protective factor for stunting (OR =0.139; 95% CI=0.037 to 0.521) than children with high physical activity. Children who consumed <80% of RDA of protein had a higher risk of being stunted (OR =6.448; 95% CI=1.756 to 23.672) than children with protein intake ≥80%.Therefore, next to improving protein intake, attention also is given to physical activity and bone mineral density to prevent stunting and its long-term impact.Keywords: stunting, bone mineral density, physical activity

Abstract

Zat besi dan vitamin A mempunyai peran penting dalam pertumbuhan anak. Kekurangan kedua zat gizi tersebut mempunyai dampak yang luas terhadap, tumbuh kembang anak. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status anemia dan status vitamin A anak Indonesia. SEANUTS adalah survai status gizi anak 0,5-12,9 tahun multi-center study dengan rancangan potong lintang yang dilaksanakan pada tahun 2011 di Indonesia yang mencakup 48 kabupaten/kota. Data yang dikumpulkan antara lain biokimia darah, termasuk hemoglobin, ferritin, dan vitamin A serum. Penentuan kadar hemoglobin dengan Cyanmethemoglobin, ferritin dengan ELISA, kadar serum vitamin A menggunakan HPLC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan prevalensi anemia tertinggi ditemukan pada kelompok umur 0,5-0,9 tahun yang tinggal di perdesaan yaitu 61,9 persen dibandingkan pada kelompok umur 9,0-12,9 tahun yaitu 11,4 persen. Demikian pula dengan prevalensi kurang besi, pada kelompok umur 1,0 - 2,9 tahun sebesar 29,7 persen, sedangkan pada kelompok umur 9,0-12,9 tahun hanya 5,3 persen. Prevalensi kekurangan vitamin A di perkotaan, pada kelompok umur 1,0-2,9 tahun tidak dijumpai masalah kurang vitamin A (0,0 persen), namun di perdesaan dijumpai sebanyak 3,1 persen, sementara itu pada kelompok usia 9,0-12,9 tahun di perkotaan dijumpai sebesar 4,9 persen dan di perdesaan sebesar 4,8 persen. Anemia masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat dengan kategori berat terutama pada anak di bawah usia 3 tahun. Kekurangan zat besi lebih banyak ditemui pada anak kelompok usia dibawah 3 tahunABSTRACT VITAMIN A AND IRON STATUS OF INDONESIAN CHILDREN The aim of this study was to identify the iron and vitamin A status in Indonesian children. SEANUTS Indonesia covered children of age 0.5-12.9 years old from 48 sub-districts. The study collected biochemical parameters which included iron, ferritin and serum vitamin A status.  Hemoglobin was determined by Cyanmethemoglobin, ferritin by ELISA and serum vitamin A serum by HPLC. The prevalence of anemia was lower (11.4 %) in the older children (9.0-12.9 years) compared to younger children (0.5-0.9 years) were 61.9 % which was found in the rural area. Abstract

Iodine Deficiency Disorder is one of Health problem that influences directly to the life expectancy and the quality of Human being as well as delaying the goal of National Development. The survey of iodized salt consumption reported by BPS (Central Statistics Bureau) in 2003 shows that in West Jakarta the number of households who consumed an adequate iodine salt( = 30 ppm) was 66.32%. This figure is highest compared to the other four Districts in Jakarta and this becomes more important to prevent the deficiency of iodine such as cretinism and the swallowed neck. The aim of the study is gain the information related to the usage of salt, storage, place of buying and the consumption of iodized salt among poor families lived in sub district Kalideres, West Jakarta in 2006. This study is cross sectional. The sampel of the study is poor household lived in subdistrict Kalideres, West Jakarta involving 60 poor households who received JPBSK (social safety net in health) taken from Puskesmas Kalideres. The number of samples was based on random sampling formula. The study site was taken based on Multistage random sampling then sample was chosen through systematic random sampling. The analysis of tables both univariate and bivariate are used to interpret the results. The result shows that most of poor households bought the salt in small shop closed to their houses. The brand names of iodized salt used by almost all poor households are Segitiga Emas, with very fine grade, and generally it was stored in closed container with the average price of Rp.500,- per pack . It was also found that in the households level, the salt was stored in a color-plastic-container and lived it opened in cupboard or on the table, far away from heat. The salt was kept with average storage of 5.6 +0.7 hari. The interesting part of the study is that the salt commonly consumed by most poor households still contained iodine with adequate amount reflected by the existing of purple color using iodine test. The consumption level of the salt was 9.6+0.5 gram per person/d.Key words: Iodized salt, characteristic of iodine salt
