Abstract

Purpose: To examine the relationship between socioeconomic status and nutritional condition with the prevalence of helminthiasis among students at SDN 02 Selokaton. Methodology: This research employs a quantitative observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 130 fifth- and sixth-grade students were selected using total sampling. The independent variables (socioeconomic status and nutritional status) were assessed through questionnaires and anthropometric measurements, respectively. The dependent variable, helminth infection incidence, was determined through microscopic stool analysis. Data were analyzed using Spearman's test. Results: Among the 65 students who met the inclusion criteria, 20% (13 students) tested positive for helminth infections. Poor nutritional status was found in 6.2% of students, while 43.1% had low nutritional status. Most students came from families with a middle socioeconomic status (78.5%). No significant correlation was found between socioeconomic status or nutritional status and the incidence of helminth infections (p > 0.05). Applications/Originality/Value: Despite the lack of a significant correlation, the high prevalence of helminth infections suggests that factors like environmental hygiene and hygienic behaviors may play a more influential role. Health education and improved sanitation are needed to reduce the prevalence of helminth infections in the area.

Abstract

Purpose: The objective of this study is to determine whether parental knowledge about worms and environmental sanitation are related to the incidence of worms (helminthiasis) among students in SDN 02 Selokaton. Methodology: This study uses an analytical observational study research method with a cross-sectional research design. Results: there is no significant relationship between parental knowledge about worms and the incidence of worm infections, there is no significant relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of worm infections. Applications/Originality/Value: The novelty in this study is that no data has been found on the prevalence of worms in elementary school students in Karanganyar, so this study can be an initial screening of the prevalence of worms in elementary school students in Karanganyar.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart failure. Non-pharmacological interventions are increasingly recognized as essential alternatives, particularly due to the potential long-term side effects associated with antihypertensive medications. This study aims to examine the effect of foot soak therapy utilizing warm water, salt, and lemongrass on blood pressure reduction among individuals with hypertension. The study was conducted on 25 hypertensive residents of Anjir Serapat Muara Village. A quasi-experimental approach employing a one-group pretest-posttest design was implemented. The findings revealed that 92% of participants experienced a decrease in blood pressure following the therapy. This foot soak therapy demonstrates potential as a complementary intervention in the management of hypertension within community settings and has been proven effective in lowering blood pressure in the majority of participants.

Abstract

In Indonesia the MMR is still high, namely 305/100,000 lives birth (Ministry of Health, 2018) In 2017 out of 34 provinces in Indonesia, North Sumatra was among the 6 provinces with a high MMR (Ministry of Health, 2017). In 2017, the MMR in North Sumatara amounted to 58.18 / 100,000 lives birth while in 2018 the MMR increased by a total of 62.18 / 100,000 lives birth (North Sumatra Health Office, 2018). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of semi fowler and lying on the left position to the duration of second stage labor in Helen Tarigan midwifery clinic of Medan Selayang sub district and Niar midwifery clinic of Medan Amplas sub district in 2020. This type of research was pre-experimental with one shot case study / post-test only design. and sampling by purposive sampling, the sample is third trimester pregnant women who will give birth amounting to 22 people.  Based on the results of the independent t-test, the value of ? (0.01) <? (0.05) means that the position of semi fowler and lying on the left position of labor in maternal is proven to significantly accelerate the length of the second stage of labor. The average length of second stage of labor in the semi fowler position was 33.63 minutes and the average length of second stage of labor in lying on the left position was 26.44 minutes. Thus, the length of the second stage of labor in the lying on the left position was faster than the semi fowler position with a time difference of 7.19 minutes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the position of semi fowler labor and lying on the left position of labor is effective against the duration of the second stage of labor. It is expected that each midwife recommends using lying on the left of delivery position to accelerate the second stage of labor Keywords : Semi Fowler Birth Position, Lying On The Left Delivery Position, Length of Second Stage of Labor
