Abstract

In the 2019 legislative elections, the issue of women's representation in politics, as much as 30%, is interesting to study. Law No.7 of 2017 in article 245 states that the list of prospective candidates contains at least 30% women. The problem now is the lack of women's interest in politics and the lack of female cadres. Political parties need to find an instant way to make women more than only commodities to fulfill the party's qualification requirements. This study aims to explore the dynamics of women's involvement in legislative nominations in Jambi City and the government's participation in maximizing women's involvement. This research was conducted in Jambi City using a case study approach. The selection of the data was from political party officials and at the same time, they became the research informants. In addition, the General Election Commission (KPU) of the City of Jambi was a supplementary informant. Data collection was done through brainstorming and interviews. This research uses the theory of liberal feminism and the theory of gender politics. Furthermore, this research will find a model of gender equality in politics based on gender justice in terms of representation in the political world by showing partiality to be on the agenda and the issues of women.

Abstract

The relocation of the capital city of Indonesia from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is a strategic policy that presents various challenges, including complex political conflicts. This conflict involves the rejection by indigenous communities regarding land rights, concerns about environmental impacts, and the lack of public participation in the decision-making process. This research aims to examine the role of communication in managing the political conflicts arising from this policy. Through the application of Conflict Theory by Littlejohn, Constructive Controversy by Peter T. Coleman, and the Theory of Cooperation and Competition by Morton Deutsch, this research analyzes the role of communication in alleviating conflicts, building cooperation, and achieving consensus among stakeholders. This research applies the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to identify studies related to political communication and conflict resolution in the context of public policy during the period 2022–2024. The research findings indicate that public resistance can be attributed to the inadequacy of inclusive narratives and the lack of participatory dialogue. A communication approach that prioritizes collaboration through constructive dialogue and narratives reflecting shared interests has the potential to transform destructive conflicts into more productive negotiation processes. The conclusion drawn from this study is a recommendation for the implementation of clearer communication strategies, involving all parties, and focusing on collaboration to create agreements among stakeholders.

Abstract

This study examines the paradigm shift of traditional media in the face of the digital era, focusing on the adaptation processes and forms of media convergence through Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. The research analyzes the discourse representations of digitalization constructed by four media institutions, BBC, TVRI, Kompas, and The Guardian, through official documents, corporate statements, and strategic content. This study aims to explore how traditional media constructs its identity in response to the demands of digital platforms and how the power structures and ideologies behind this transformation process unfold. The main findings reveal that media transformation is not only technical but also reflects changes in power structures, ideological values, and epistemic dynamics. At the textual level, media adaptation is constructed through narratives of innovation and participation, yet it retains the institutional dominance of traditional media. At the level of discursive practices, media institutions adopt multiplatform strategies and user engagement; however, public participation remains structurally controlled by the media organizations. Meanwhile, at the social practice level, there is a negotiation between traditional journalistic values and the increasingly dominant digital algorithmic logic in content management. The shift in media paradigms from linear, centralized communication models to participatory, modular, and decentralized many-to-many communication models has introduced new challenges, such as epistemic crises, misinformation, and digital platform dominance. Despite this, traditional media still strives to maintain its relevance in the increasingly complex digital media ecosystem. This study contributes theoretically by recommending the need for deeper critical digital literacy, as well as a reformulation of journalistic values to address the challenges of misinformation and technological dominance. An interdisciplinary approach is essential to better understand communication within the contemporary media landscape, which is increasingly dominated by digital platforms.
