Abstract

This study explores the concept of Ethno-Eco-Design as a strategic approach to empower literapreneur start-ups in the screen printing and apparel industry in Semarang. Based on preliminary surveys and related studies, these start-ups face two major challenges in 21st-century entrepreneurship: low ecological awareness in their production and business practices, and limited market segmentation, particularly in reaching millennial consumers. Using a participatory action research method, this study examines how the integration of local cultural elements (ethno-design) with environmentally friendly design practices (eco-design) can enhance the sustainability and market relevance of these start-ups. As a result, a design framework was developed that not only supports green entrepreneurship (ecopreneurship) but also expands the literacy and creative capacity of young business actors in a competitive and environmentally conscious market.

Family education is the main foundation in shaping the next generation to have strong character, high morality, and creativity to become accomplished young achievers. Through guidance and example from parents, noble values, ethics, and a fighting spirit are instilled from an early age, making them individuals ready to face the challenges of the times. Thus, the role of the family is not limited to education but also to fostering the regeneration of young carvers. The study was conducted to examine the role of family education in preserving and regenerating woodcarving art in Mulyoharjo Village, Jepara. The research used a qualitative approach, with data presented descriptively through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the research indicate that informal education within the family environment serves as the primary foundation for shaping the character, work ethic, and technical skills of young woodcarvers. From a young age, children are directly exposed to woodcarving activities, learning indirectly from their parents or other family members. The learning process not only involves the transfer of techniques but also instills noble values such as perseverance, precision, and a love for tradition. The role of parents as mentors and facilitators is crucial in nurturing children's interests and talents. It can be concluded that family education is the key to the sustainability of woodcarving art in Mulyoharjo Village. As such, support from various parties, including village governments and communities, is needed to strengthen the role of families as centers of cultural inheritance.

Abstract

The obong ritual is a death ritual carried out by the kalang community as a means of respecting the spirits of deceased ancestors. This ritual is a local wisdom in Kendal Regency. However, many people of kalang descent have abandoned obong rituals, so there is a need for cultural socialization media so that these rituals are not eroded by the times. This research aims to analyze the aesthetic form, symbolic meaning, and role of the obong ritual as a medium for cultural socialization. The research method used is a qualitative approach. Data was taken using in-depth interviews, documentation and observation. The research was conducted in Tratemulyo Village, Weleri District, Kendal Regency. The uniqueness of this research location is that the majority of the kalang people in Tratemulyo Village are actually Muslim, but still practice and carry out ceremonies of respect for ancestral spirits in the form of obong rituals. The research results show that the aesthetic form of the visual properties used in the obong ritual contains deep symbolism. It is not just decoration, but also summarizes the values and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. The symbolic meaning of offerings in the obong ritual never experiences a shift in meaning, because the meaning is passed down from generation to generation by the kalang shaman.

Abstract

: This article presents a literature review on the historical transformation and cultural diffusion of the ocarina, with a particular focus on its global evolution and its emergence in Indonesia. As a member of the vessel-flute family, the ocarina has undergone a long historical trajectory, evolving from a prehistoric artifact into a modern musical instrument with both educational and artistic functions. The literature indicates that the modern form of the ocarina was developed in Italy by Giuseppe Donati in the nineteenth century and subsequently disseminated to various regions of the world through trade routes, music education, and popular culture. In Indonesia, the ocarina has begun to attract attention as an alternative musical instrument in primary education and as part of creative clay-based craftsmanship. This study underscores the importance of cross-cultural perspectives in understanding the evolution of musical instruments and recommends further research focusing on local practices, craft production, and pedagogical integration within educational institutions.   Keywords: ocarina, vessel flute, music history, cultural diffusion, music education, Indonesia

Abstract

Keroncong music is one of Indonesia’s intangible cultural heritages that possesses significant historical, cultural, and aesthetic value; however, its sustainability is currently facing serious challenges amid globalization and shifting preferences among younger generations. A central issue lies in the disruption of regeneration processes, caused by the weakness of transmission mechanisms that are able to bridge tradition with contemporary life contexts. This study aims to examine the learning and transmission processes of keroncong music developed by Maestro Sundari Soekotjo at the Indonesian Keroncong Foundation (Yayasan Keroncong Indonesia, YAKIN) as a strategic model for keroncong conservation through education. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and literature review, and were analyzed interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the keroncong transmission process at YAKIN implements contextual learning structured into four main stages: demonstration through modelling, meaning making through inquiry, discussion based on constructivism, and reflection accompanied by authentic assessment. This learning model not only emphasizes the acquisition of musical technical skills, but also encourages students to collectively construct historical, social, and cultural understandings of keroncong. The study concludes that the contextual learning approach implemented by Maestro Sundari Soekotjo plays an effective role in shaping younger generations as agents of preservation, while simultaneously serving as a conservation mechanism that sustains keroncong music as a living cultural heritage Keyword: keroncong; contextual learning, transmision, conservation, art education Abstrak Musik keroncong merupakan salah satu warisan budaya tak benda Indonesia yang memiliki nilai historis, kultural, dan estetis yang tinggi, namun keberlangsungannya menghadapi tantangan serius di tengah arus globalisasi dan perubahan preferensi generasi muda.
