Abstract

Mastering science process skill is very beneficial in problem solving process. Thisresearch aimed to develop teaching materials such as science process skill-based textbooks on energy and its changes. The method used in this research was research and development, by using the 4D design, which include define, design, develop, and disseminate. Research and development method were used to produce a product and to test its efficiency. The result showed that the learning material fulfill the assessment criteria. The mean validation result of textbook showed a number of 3.58 indicated as a good category. Based on T test, it was proven that the use of textbooks is indeed influential towards the development of students’ science process skill.

Abstract

The representation of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in visual media warrants further in-depth study. Previous research has focused primarily on theoretical analyses of the Prophet’s portrayal, and few studies have compared his depiction in visual media with that in religious texts. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method and a comparative approach to analyze the representation of the Prophet Muhammad in the film The Message and Sirah Nabawiyah through an analysis of dialogue, narrative, and cinematic techniques. The results indicate that the film constructs the Prophet’s representation through intermediary characters, a narrator, and Western dramatic structures, whereas Sirah Nabawiyah focuses more on historical and religious aspects. This study concludes that the representation of the Prophet Muhammad is influenced by various factors, including the author’s cultural background.

Abstract

This study examines how presuppositions construct narratives in international media coverage of recent environmental disasters in Sumatra, specifically focusing on the flash floods and landslides that occurred in late 2025. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study analyzes eight news articles from four international outlets: BBC, The Guardian, France 24, and Al Arabiya. The analysis applies Yule’s (1996) grammatical presupposition framework and Levinson’s (1983) sub-classifications. These grammatical triggers are then cross-tabulated with emerging thematic categories, such as Ecology, State/Politics, and Physical Damage. From 261 identified triggers, Lexical Presuppositions dominate the dataset at 68.2%, primarily conveyed through verbs of change and comparison. The cross-tabulation reveals strategic framing across themes. Lexical verbs of state change establish human causality within ecological frames. Meanwhile, structural negation presupposes state administrative failure, whereas factive presuppositions validate the state's official narrative. Ultimately, presuppositions function as architects of implicit reality in news discourse. They allow the media to naturalize subjective interpretations, presenting them as objective facts to readers.
