Abstract

The phenomenon of relatively expensive health services that cannot be afforded by everyone, especially those with a low standard of living, has caused some people to choose alternative medical routes that are easier and more cost-effective. This study aims to find out the reasons why people still use supernatural healing. The research method is to use a research method through a qualitative descriptive method in which the author conducts interviews and analyzes any developments related to these problems. The results of this study indicate that people's perceptions of supernatural healing originate from a form of belief in the strange diseases they experience. There are several factors that become reasons for doing supernatural healing, namely; medical expenses, personal experience, simple methods and fast recovery.

Abstract

This study discusses mudharabah as one of the main instruments in the Islamic financial system and its relationship with Islamic economic philosophy. The concept of mudharabah is one of the main pillars in the Islamic economic system that prioritizes justice, honesty, and social responsibility in economic activities. Conceptually, mudharabah is understood as a cooperation contract between the capital owner (shahibul maal) and the business manager (mudharib) with the principle of profit sharing and risk sharing. From a normative perspective, this contract is in line with the principles of maqasid al-shari‘ah, especially in realizing justice, trustworthiness, and the economic welfare of the people. In practice, mudharabah has been widely used in modern Islamic financial institutions, especially in supporting the micro and small business sector, although its implementation still faces challenges in the form of moral hazard, information asymmetry, and regulatory limitations. This study uses a library research approach by analyzing classical and contemporary literature. The research results confirm that mudharabah is not only a financing instrument, but also a manifestation of Islamic philosophical values that are relevant to addressing global challenges, strengthening Islamic financial inclusion, and encouraging equitable and sustainable economic development for the people

Abstract

Marriage is often considered an important phase in the lives of Indonesian women, reflecting the success and completeness of a woman's identity as a wife and mother. However, an increasing number of middle-aged women (aged 40–60) are unmarried in an ever-evolving social context. This phenomenon elicits diverse responses from society, ranging from negative stigma to social pressure, which ultimately affects the comfort and psychological well-being of women who experience it. This study aims to explore middle-aged women's perceptions of marriage, identify factors hindering marriage, and understand their conditions and expectations as unmarried women. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with four main informants and four supporting informants in Medan. Data were analyzed through thematic reduction and categorization. The study results show that middle-aged women perceive marriage as a form of worship and a long-term commitment. Although they had a desire to marry in the past, they experienced various obstacles, including emotional trauma, the absence of a serious partner, and social and cultural pressure. Nevertheless, they demonstrated economic and emotional independence and were able to build a positive meaning of life outside the institution of marriage. Family support proved to be an important factor in maintaining psychological stability. This study concludes that the single status of middle-aged women results from a complex life process, not merely a form of failure. Therefore, society needs to stop stigmatizing and build a more inclusive understanding of women's life choices.

Abstract

The development of the digital culinary ecosystem through e-food delivery applications encourages the use of paylater features that offer payment convenience, but potentially contain elements of riba nasi'ah in the form of additional fees for delayed payments. This practice raises issues from the perspective of digital consumer protection and Islamic business ethics. This study analyzes the impact of riba nasi'ah practices on digital consumer protection and Islamic business ethics in halal cake MSMEs in the e-commerce ecosystem. This study addresses the issue of hidden interest mechanisms embedded in digital financial features such as buy now pay later (BNPL) and fintech-based loans, which are contrary to Islamic principles. The research questions focus on how riba nasi'ah affects Islamic business ethics and digital consumer protection, and what Sharia-based solutions can be implemented. This study uses a qualitative normative-conceptual approach based on a literature review of reputable journals, books, and regulatory sources. The findings indicate that riba nasi'ah practices lead to violations of justice (adl), honesty (sidq), and virtue (ihsan), increase production costs, reduce product quality, and weaken consumer trust. Furthermore, these practices create risks of gharar and tadlis in digital transactions. This study contributes by offering an integrative framework that links riba nasi’ah, Islamic business ethics, and consumer protection, and proposes sharia-compliant solutions such as murabahah and wakalah contracts.

Abstract

This study aims to deconstruct the psychological architecture of consumer preferences for halal products within a multicultural market transitioning toward a mandatory certification regime. Amidst the theoretical schism between religious approaches (Theory of Planned Behavior) and utilitarian perspectives (Lancaster’s Theory), this research proposes an integrative model to explain how a single religious symbol acts as a driver for consumption across diverse faith groups simultaneously. Employing a Mixed-Methods Sequential Explanatory design, this study analyzed data from 182 respondents in Medan City using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with Multi-Group Analysis (MGA), followed by a qualitative deepening through Reflexive Thematic Analysis of 25 informants. The MGA results reveal a sharp and statistically significant behavioral divergence. In the Muslim group, the direct pathway from religion to preference is substantial (β = 0.293), driven by a mechanism of "Transcendental Compliance" which is largely inelastic. Conversely, in the Non-Muslim group, the influence of religion is negligible (β = 0.002). Qualitative findings illuminate this statistical anomaly through the phenomenon of "Symbol Secularization," where Non-Muslim consumers deconstruct the halal label from its theological attributes and reconstruct it as a functional indicator of quality assurance and hygiene (Hifz al-Nafs). The primary conclusion of this study is that market equilibrium is achieved because the halal label operates as a Polysemic Signal; a single visual signifier that transmits meanings of "sanctity" for the in-group (Muslim) and "quality assurance" for the out-group (Non-Muslim) concurrently. This research recommends that industry players adopt ambidextrous marketing strategies, emphasizing universal quality standards without compromising the authenticity of Sharia values.
