Abstract

The aim of the research is to support students in constructing an array model as a bridge from their informal knowledge to the formal one in understanding the part-whole relation concept. The part-whole relation concept is important for students to reason about multiplication of fractions. Realistic Mathematics Education which is in Indonesia adapted as Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) is used as an approach in designing a series of lessons. For this purpose, hypothetical learning trajectory (HLT) became the base for conducting a teaching experiment and designing its learning materials.  The research was conducted in the fifth grade of SD Al Hikmah Surabaya, an elementary school in Indonesia, with five students as the participants. The collected data were qualitative data in the form of students’ written works and the transcript of video recording during the lesson. The data were analyzed retrospectively by confronting the conjecture of students’ thinking in the HLT with the fact in the teaching experiment. The result of the research shows that most students could use the contextual problem in promoting their ability on constructing their own array model to reason about part-whole relation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh pendekatan PMRI terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dan bagaimana proses belajar menggunakan pendekatan PMRI terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas V SD Negeri 44 Kalumbuk Kota Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental dan rancangannya Posttest Only Control Design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri 44 Kalumbuk Kota Padang, yang terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas VA sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VB sebagai kelas eksperimen. Data yang diperoleh dengan tes akhir dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji- t. Hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan uji normalitas dan homogenitas terhadap kedua data berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji hipotesis dengan uji-t menunjukkan thitung= 3,04 dan ttabel= 1,673 dengan df= 55 dan taraf signifikan 5%. Berdasarkan pengujian thitung > ttabel maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima dengan kesimpulan penggunaan PMRI memberikan pengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas V SD Negeri 44 Kalumbuk Kota Padang tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Kata kunci: PMRI; berpikir kritis This study aimed to determine whether there is an influence of the PMRI approach on students’ critical thinking skills and how the learning process using PMRI approach in grade V of SDN 44 Kalumbuk Padang is. This study was a quasi-experimental research with Post-test Only Control Design. The subject in this study were students of VA and VB of SDN 44 Kalumbuk Padang in the academic year of 2017/2018.  The data collected through post-test was analyzed with t-test. The t-test result shows that tcount = 3,04 and ttable= 1,673 with df= 55 and alpha 5 %. Based on the result, it is concluded that the PMRI approach gives a positive influence to the students’ critical thinking skills in grade V of SDN 44 Kalumbuk padang in academic year 2017/2018. Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan ini yaitu untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada aktivis mahasiswa tentang kepemimpinan dan bagaimana mengoptimalkan kembali peran aktivis mahasiswa dalam kehidupan kampus, masyarakat dan bangsa. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah, dan diskusi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah bertambahnya wawasan dan pemahaman aktivis mahasiswa tentang kepemimpinan dan peran aktivis mahasiswa.

Abstract

Industrial revolution 4.0 in which digital technology being more integrated in all aspects of human life will demand the new reform of education world. Not only can it affect the curriculum being taught, but it will also lead to the changes of the methods and approaches in conducting the lesson. One of the changes is the use of digital learning. Universitas Negeri Padang has regulation of conducting lesson through e-learning platform proportionally for all courses, including the course of Ordinary Differential Equation. Ordinary Differential Equation is a mandatory course that should be taken by mathematics department?s students. In order to support students to develop their under standing about the concept and its application while using digital learning method, the researchers develop some tutorial video as supplementary media. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the practicality of the tutorial video. This is a descriptive research where the data were collected using closed questionnaire. The respondents were 39 mathematics students of Universitas Negeri Padang who joined Ordinary Differential Equation Course in the semester of January-June 2020. The result indicates that the video tutorials used in the course are in the category of very practice with the score percentage 86,6%.

Abstract

Abstract: The low ability of students in solving math problems illustrates the low ability of students in critical thinking. So this research aims to determine the impact of a realistic approach to mathematics education on students' critical thinking abilities. This research is a quasi experimental study with the type of non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects were 29 elementary school students. The results showed t-hitung=6.52 and t-tabel = 1.69092 where t_hitung is greater than the ttabel so that there is a positive influence of the use of Realistic Mathematics Education on the thinking skills of elementary school students, especially in mathematics learning            Abstrak:  Rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika menggambarkan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan realistik pendidikan matematika terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental semu dengan jenis desain non-equivalent control group. Subjek penelitian adalah 29 siswa Sekolah Dasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dan  = 1,69092 dimana  lebih besar dari pada  sehingga ada pengaruh positif penggunaan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik terhadap keterampilan berpikir siswa sekolah dasar, khususnya dalam pembelajaran matematika

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in the mathematics education study program in the secondary school mathematics curriculum review course. This research was conducted by giving quiz questions in the form of descriptions to a class of students who were then analyzed the answers. The results of the student's answer analysis show that the students' mathematical reasoning ability is still low. The low level of students' mathematical reasoning skills in general lies in the ability of students to analyze problems, make conjectures, determine relationships between variables, and identify links between processes or concepts in a given case. So that many answers from students are not logical and wrong in concluding.

Abstract

The most essential thing in mathematics is proof, it makes mathematics being different with other subjects. One of subject in mathematics that always need prove to understand the concept is abstract algebra. In studying abstract algebra, student need various abstract concepts to include in its concepts. It is hard for student to understand the structures in abstract algebra and prove some of mathematical object that satisfy the structures. Group and its properties is the first structure in abstract algebra that has an abstract concept. It is hard for student to understand some objects, that is proven satisfy a structure and why the proof steps just flow. By giving explanation and reason in every proofing step, we try to increase student proving level and reduce the abstraction level of the concepts. To see how this module reduces the abstraction level in teaching group, this module is applied to university students and evaluated by interviewing and questionnaires to the students. Base on student response and by some perspectives, student proving ability increase and the abstraction level of the concept is diminished in some aspects.

Abstract

AbstrakMenyelesaikan masalah matematika pada topik turunan, masih dianggap sebagai soal yang sulit bagi mahasiswa karena berkaitan dengan banyak konsep matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah turunan pada matakuliah Kalkulus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Populasi dan sekaligus sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 70 mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah Kalkulus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes dan wawancara. Tes disusun berdasarkan indikator pemecahan masalah matematis. Wawancara dilakukan untuk mendukung data lembar jawaban. Analisis lembar jawaban siswa berdasarkan Newmann`s Error Analysis (NEA). Hasilnya, kesalahan berdasarkan kategori NEA yang paling banyak dilakukan oleh siswa adalah Encoding, Process Skill, dan Transformation. Dengan demikian, dosen harus meminimalisir kesalahan dengan menerapkan soal non-rutin dan HOTS.Abstract.Solving mathematical problems in derivative topics, are still considered as a difficult matter for the students, because it’s related to many mathematical concepts. The purpose of this research is to analyze students’ error in solving derivative’s problem in Calculus. This research was conducted by using quantitative approach with descriptive method. Population and sample in this research were 70 students that took Calculus Course. The data was collected by using test and interview. The test was arrange based on mathematical problem solving indicators. The interview is conducted to support the answer sheet’s data. The analysis of students answer sheets are based on Newmann`s Error Analysis (NEA). The result is that the errors based on the NEA category which are mostly made by students are Encoding, Process Skill, dan Transformation. So that, lecturers should minimize the error by giving the non-routine and HOTS problems.
