Abstract

Indonesia's 22.5 million hectares of peat forest, which is capable of storing 30% of the world's carbon dioxide, has attracted Norway to provide international assistance in implementing the REDD+ scheme. This research was conducted using qualitative research methods to analyze Norway's international aid based on the concept of international aid and the effectiveness of international aid in the failure of peat forest restoration in Indonesia. Four Norwegian aid funding mechanisms through NICFI failed to reduce carbon emissions by 41%, following the provisions of the Letter of Intent (LoI) on REDD+ agreed upon by Indonesia and Norway in 2009. The reason is that Norway's national interests are mixed with international aid provided, so that is Self-Interest following the dimensions of international assistance. This also makes the effectiveness of international assistance insignificant even though it is following the five principles of the Paris Declaration on Aids Effectiveness. Abstract

Abstract Political participation in democratic countries, such as Indonesia, is still not considered high during general election. Influenced by various factors, many people choose not to vote “golput” during election. One way to reduce the number of golput is to provide political education to the public. Generation Z, as first-time voters in the 2024 election in Indonesia, should be given political education to reduce the golput-rate during the democratic process. Generation Z is expected to become politically aware of the political situation, the consequences of golput, and the importance of participation in the 2024 election. At the same time, strengthening political education aims to ensure that Generation Z not only becomes political objects but also political subjects. Therefore, the International Relations Program at Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta carried out a project to provide political education in preparation for the 2024 election at a senior high school, Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN) 4 Yogyakarta.   Keywords: Political Participation, Election, Political Education, Golput, Generation Z.   Abstrak   Partisipasi politik pada waktu pemilihan umum di negara demokrasi yakni Indonesia masih belum bisa dikatakan tinggi.

Abstract

Abstract Child exploitation is one of the most serious cases. Triggered by increasingly advanced and widespread globalization, child exploitation in Thailand continued to increase from 2019 to 2022. As a country that has long ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Thailand's determination to resolve child exploitation cases is questionable. This article examines the effectiveness of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Thailand from 2019 to 2022, using Arild Underdal's perspective on the effectiveness of the regime and explaining it clearly. The results of this study show that the Convention on the Rights of the Child that has been ratified by Thailand has not yet been fully enforced. This is evidenced by a steady increase every year from 2019 to 2022. This shows that child exploitation cannot be solved with current laws.

Abstract

The Natuna Sea is one of Indonesia's territorial waters that borders many countries so that it is often an easy target for illegal fishing, including ships belonging to China, Vietnam and Thailand.  Not only does it harm the country's economy and local fishermen, but illegal fishing also causes damage to marine ecosystems and coral reefs, even though Indonesia as a country that ratified the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea or commonly referred to as UNCLOS has adopted rules governing this in its law. Using the Base on research method that we collected from various journals, websites, electronic scientific articles and other research reports, we attempt to (1) analyse the effectiveness of UNCLOS in addressing maritime issues such as illegal fishing (2) to determine the compliance of UNCLOS ratifying countries involved in illegal fishing cases in the Natuna Sea seen from green politics theory and Robert B. Mitchell's compliance theory. Mitchell's compliance theory.  The results we found are that the entry of ships belonging to China, Vietnam and Thailand into the Natuna Sea shows the ineffectiveness of UNCLOS and the lack of compliance of the ratifying countries.
