Abstract

This research was inspired by research findings in the educational environment during the 3 month introduction to school among students. So far, researchers have observed that many students use gadgets to open the TikTok application, both in class and outside of class. This investigation aims to show the relationship between the level of fear of missing out and self-control in grade 8 students who use TikTok as their main social media at SMPN 103 Jakarta. The research methodology is quantitative correlational with a population of 360 students. The sample taken consisted of ninety class VIII students, taken randomly. The data collection method uses a questionnaire containing strong and weak options. The tool whose validity was tested showed 48 valid items out of 56 items for fear of missing out and 42 valid items out of 48 items related to the self-regulation variable used to test the validity of the scale. There is an alpha value of 0.976 for Fear of Missing Out and Self-Control on the Cronbach Scale, and an alpha value of 0.940 for the test which is considered very reliable. Additionally, the analysis terms were tested for normality with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov formula. The results show a normal distribution. Followed by the results of the linearity test. The value (r) of 0.309 produced by the Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient formula with a significance level of 0.00–0.005 indicates that there is a significant positive relationship between fear of loss and the dependent variable of self-control for Class VIII students. That is, the greater the fear of missing out, the more control over oneself, and conversely, the lower the fear of missing out, the less control over oneself.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and evaluate the relationship between online game addiction and sleep quality in students at senior high school 1 Lubuk Sikaping.. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with descriptive and correlational research types. The sample in this study amounted to 30 students of class XII at senior high school  1 Lubuk Sikaping. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and Pearson product moment correlation analysis with the help of the JASP version 16.3 program. The results of the study revealed that online game addiction of students at senior high school 1 Lubuk Sikaping is generally in the high category, and sleep quality in students at senior high school 1 Lubuk Sikaping is generally in the low category, and there is a significant relationship between online game addiction and sleep quality at students at senior high school 1 Lubuk Sikaping

Abstract

Siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) merupakan masa peralihan dari masa kanak-kanak ke masa remaja. Pada masa ini, anak sangat membutuhkan arahan untuk membantu mereka menentukan hal positif dan hal negatif. Hal demikian yang membuat anak bertindak sesuai hatinya dan belum bisa menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan sosialnya. Sehingga diperlukan peran orang tua dan guru untuk memonitori sikap para anak remaja tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui serta menentukan apakah terdapat pola asuh otoritatif terhadap kedisiplinan siswa Kelas VII SMP Malahayati Jakarta serta apakah terdapat pengaruh dari pola asuh otoriter yang diterapkan. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode kuantitatif dengan populasi yang diambil yaitu seluruh siswa kelas VII yang berjumlah 132 siswa. Metode Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan jenis Non probability sampling dengan teknik Purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data dengan melakukan analisis regresi linear berganda dan uji hipotesis menggunakan SPSS 27 for MacIOS. Hasil penelitian ini diketahui bahwa ilai t = 1,996 dengan nilai signifikasi 0,048 < 0,05. Maka kesimpulan yang dapat diambil terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara pola asuh otoritatif terhadap kedisiplinan siswa kelas VII SMP Malahayati.

Abstract

Depresi merupakan kondisi umum yang sering kali tidak terdiagnosis di kalangan mahasiswa. Status WhatsApp di jejaring sosial di kalangan mahasiswa dapat menampilkan indikasi depresi yang mereka alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengungkapan status WhatsApp mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) untuk gejala depresi atau episode depresi mayor (EDM).  Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain studi observasional lintas-seksional untuk mengamati pengungkapan gejala depresi dan pola penggunaan WhatsApp pada mahasiswa di Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Data dikumpulkan dari pembaruan status WhatsApp yang tersedia publik dalam grup-grup mahasiswa antara 1 Mei 2023 dan 1 Mei 2024. Status WhatsApp yang dievaluasi adalah yang diunggah oleh mahasiswa tahun ketiga dan keempat studi mereka. Analisis regresi binomial negatif digunakan untuk memodelkan hubungan antara pengungkapan depresi dan demografi atau karakteristik penggunaan WhatsApp di kalangan mahasiswa. Sebanyak 150 status dievaluasi, dengan pemilik status terdiri dari 43,5% perempuan dan usia rata-rata 20 tahun. Secara keseluruhan, 31,3% status menampilkan gejala depresi dan 2,5% memenuhi kriteria untuk EDM. Mahasiswa umumnya menunjukkan gejala yang konsisten dengan depresi melalui status WhatsApp. Oleh karena itu, WhatsApp dapat menjadi salah satu jalur inovatif untuk melawan stigma seputar kondisi kesehatan mental, atau untuk mengidentifikasi mahasiswa yang berisiko mengalami depresi.

Abstract

This study investigates student behavior in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to address academic and personal challenges, as well as the subsequent implications for guidance and counseling services within Islamic higher education contexts. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing literature reviews and semi-structured interviews conducted with four counselors and six students from an Islamic higher education institution in Bengkulu. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students predominantly use AI tools to efficiently manage academic tasks, such as organizing schedules and accessing information. However, excessive dependence on AI has been observed to adversely affect students' critical thinking abilities, as they often unquestioningly accept instantaneous solutions provided by these technologies without deeper reflection or critical assessment. Additionally, counselors identified significant challenges in integrating AI technologies with a humanistic and spiritually grounded counseling approach rooted in Islamic values, particularly concerning issues of data privacy, confidentiality, and ethical use of technology. The results of this study emphasize the necessity of developing a balanced strategy that combines the advantages of AI with robust human interaction in counseling practices. Consequently, it is recommended that Islamic higher education institutions enhance counselor training in ethical AI utilization, while concurrently supporting students in cultivating critical thinking capacities and moral consciousness aligned with Islamic ethical frameworks. Future research should consider employing quantitative methodologies to statistically assess AI's impact on students' academic and personal development and to broaden the exploration of effective integration between technological advancements and Islamic educational values.

Abstract

Life and career skills are one life skills that should developed by students in order to prepare themselves for the future. The efforts to develop career skills for students through guidance and counseling services are relevant to conducted by educational institutions. This study aims to describe the feasibility and effectiveness of microsite-based school career guidance programs to enhance career exploration of junior high school students. The experiment with one-group pretestand posttest design wasconducted by involving 60 junior high school students (age 13 – 15) were selected by intact group by class. The career explorations cale isused to measure student’s career exploration before and after students following the career guidance program through microsite. The student’s perception questionnaire was used to evaluate student responses about the feasibility and acceptability of the microsite-based career guidance. Results of this study shows (1) microsite-based career guidance has good acceptability based on student responses that states the media was easy to access and useful, and (2) microsite-based career guidance is effective for enhancing student’s career exploration. The results of this study have implications for the use of ICT’s in developing career guidance and counseling media.
