Abstract

The acceleration of climate change is greatly influenced by carbon emissions from industrial processes, particularly those that come into direct touch with natural resources. One industry that interacts directly with natural resources is the palm oil sector. From clearing land to managing oil palm plantations, manufacturing palm oil FFB, and distributing palm oil goods, all of this industrial business activity generates carbon emissions that have the potential to harm the environment. The purpose of this study is to investigate the low level of transparency and reporting of carbon activities. A number of variables, such as profitability, firm size, environmental performance, managerial ownership, and corporate worth, are used in this study to analyse carbon emission disclosure. This research is a type of quantitative research using secondary data, namely 25 samples of the palm oil industry in Indonesia for the period 2021–2023. The research results show that profitability and managerial ownership company size have insignificant results on Carbon Emission Disclosure, while environmental performance has a significant effect on Carbon Emission Disclosure. The Carbon Emission Disclosure hypothesis on company value also shows significant results where the more a business entity discloses and reports its carbon activities, the more investor confidence it has which can be seen in the high share value.

Abstract

Tofu wastewater contains high concentrations of organic matter, suspended solids, and dissolved solids that may deteriorate water quality if discharged directly into the environment. Phytoremediation is an environmentally friendly wastewater treatment method that utilizes aquatic plants to improve water quality. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) as phytoremediation agents for tofu wastewater treatment. The experiment was conducted using four treatments, namely control (P0), water hyacinth (P1), water hyacinth + water lettuce (P2), and water lettuce (P3). Observations were carried out on days 0, 7, 14, and 21. Water quality parameters analyzed included pH, temperature, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). The results showed that phytoremediation for 21 days altered the quality of tofu wastewater. The pH values generally increased from acidic conditions toward more neutral conditions, while temperature remained relatively stable throughout the observation period. Water lettuce was more effective in stabilizing pH and reducing TSS, whereas water hyacinth showed better performance in maintaining DO concentrations and controlling TDS accumulation. These findings indicate that both plant species have potential as phytoremediation agents for tofu wastewater treatment, with their effectiveness depending on the targeted water quality parameters.

Abstract

Flooding has become one of the recurring environmental problems affecting residential areas in Samarinda City, with significant repercussions across multiple dimensions of community life. This study was designed to examine how residents perceive the impacts, triggering factors, and flood mitigation measures undertaken in the Haji Saleh Housing Complex, Loa Janan Ilir Subdistrict. A descriptive quantitative method was employed using a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5). A total of 40 respondents were selected through purposive sampling, with an age criterion of 15–64 years. Data were analyzed using mean values. The findings reveal that all measured indicators fell within the high to very high categories, yielding an overall mean score of 4.42. Respondents identified heavy rainfall as the primary triggering factor of flooding (mean 4.68), while inadequate drainage capacity also contributed significantly (mean 4.65). The most dominant impacts were property damage (4.60) and mobility disruption (4.53). Meanwhile, community-based flood mitigation efforts were categorized as high. These results indicate that residents possess a strong flood risk perception, underscoring the need for strengthened collaboration between government and community in sustaining mitigation efforts and improving drainage infrastructure on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Abstract

The bio-cycle farming system is intended to introduce the community to business-oriented and environmentally friendly agricultural businesses. The integrated biological cycle of agriculture, in which all components are helpful, and no waste is wasted or thrown away, reduces the risk of crop failure because dependence on a commodity can be avoided and saves production costs. This study aims to determine the effect of utilizing the bio-cycle farming system in handling household waste. Data collection used a survey method with a sample of 33 people. Quantitative data were analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, Kolmogorov-Smirnov classical assumption tests, simple regression tests, and hypothesis testing, namely the t-test and the coefficient of determination (R2). The results showed that the utilization of the bio-cycle farming system had a significant effect on handling household waste. The variable utilization of the bio-cycle farming system (X) showed a calculated t value greater than the t table (5.955> t table 2.040) or sig <? (0.000 <0.05). Meanwhile, the variation in changes in the waste management variable (Y) is influenced by changes in the independent variable consisting of the use of the bio cycle farming system (X) by 53.4%. In comparison, other factors outside this research influence the remaining 46.6%.
