Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between hamstring tightness and lumbar hyperlordosis and trunk flexibility in students at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional observational study design involving 30 students with hamstring tightness disorders. Hamstring tightness was measured using the straight leg raise test, the lumbar lordosis angle was measured with a flexicurve, and trunk flexibility was measured using the fingertip to floor test. Data analysis was performed using Pearson Product Moment correlation test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed a significant correlation between hamstring tightness and trunk flexibility with a p-value of 0.00 and a very strong correlation coefficient (R = 0.984), while lumbar hyperlordosis data did not show a significant correlation with trunk flexibility or hamstring tightness. The conclusion of this study confirms that hamstring shortening has a very strong relationship with limited trunk flexibility, but is not directly related to changes in the lumbar lordosis angle. These findings highlight the importance of physiotherapy interventions that focus on increasing hamstring flexibility as a preventive and functional strategy for students with high sedentary activities.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Skoliosis thorakolumbal merupakan kelainan postural tiga dimensi yang ditandai dengan deviasi lateral dan rotasi vertebra. Asimetri beban mekanik memicu kelelahan otot paraspinal, nyeri punggung kronis, serta penurunan kualitas hidup. Pendekatan konservatif terintegrasi yang memadukan terapi fisis dan metode latihan spesifik berpotensi memberikan hasil klinis yang optimal. Tujuan: Menganalisis efektivitas kombinasi modalitas fisis (Infrared dan TENS), latihan spesifik metode Schroth, serta Home Exercise Program (HEP) terhadap penurunan intensitas nyeri, derajat rotasi trunk, dan kapasitas fungsional pada pasien skoliosis thorakolumbal tipe C. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain laporan kasus tunggal (single-case study) pada seorang wanita berusia 23 tahun dengan skoliosis thorakolumbal di Klinik Fisioterapi Surabaya. Intervensi diberikan sebanyak 8 sesi selama 4 minggu (2 kali seminggu). Protokol terapi terdiri dari Infrared (IR), Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), latihan spesifik metode Schroth (koreksi tiga dimensi, rotational angular breathing, dan penguatan isometrik terarah), serta program latihan mandiri di rumah (HEP). Evaluasi parameter dilakukan pada pra (T0) dan pasca-intervensi (T8) menggunakan Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Scoliometer, dan kuesioner Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22). Hasil: Setelah 8 sesi terapi, ditemukan penurunan tingkat nyeri VAS sebesar 66,7% (dari 6,0 cm menjadi 2,0 cm), penurunan derajat rotasi trunk pada scoliometer dari 7° menjadi 4°, serta peningkatan skor fungsional SRS-22 sebesar 46,0% (dari 63 menjadi 92 poin). Kesimpulan: Kombinasi Infrared, TENS, latihan metode Schroth, dan program latihan mandiri terbukti efektif dalam meredakan nyeri, mengoreksi deformitas rotasional trunk, dan meningkatkan kapasitas fungsional pada pasien skoliosis thorakolumbal.
