Abstract

The dance piece entitled Aer Sengketa comes from the Ujungan Arts tradition. Where Ujungan art is interpreted as a form of legitimacy of gratitude for the successful rice harvest and strengthens friendship between fighters from various directions. Accompanied by sampyong music as an accompaniment to the Uncul dance during the Ujungan game, combined with mask music, the atmosphere is more dramatic. This dance style has a number of dancers that will be used, namely 8 dancers, 10 silat players, 8 uncul dancers and 2 bobotoh. The purpose of creating the dance is to represent the culture of the Betawi people in the form of gratitude for the success of the rice harvest and to strengthen ties between fighters in various directions. The dance creation method uses Moving From Within from Alma M. Hawkins' book entitled “Moving From Within: A Method For Dance Making” which was translated by I Wayan Dibia into “Moving According to Your Heart”. The results of the creation of the Aer Sengketa dance enriched the motion motifs of the Betawi dance styles, as follows Gibang, Kewer, Goyang Plastik, Goyang Cendol, Slancar, and also silo tiger and mincit silat movements.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of flashcard media in music learning, especially in helping students understand music theory and increase motivation to play music through a fun and interactive approach. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study identified, evaluated, and synthesized eight selected scientific articles published between 2015-2025. The selection process was based on PRISMA guidelines and Zawacki-Richter's SLR model, including the formulation of research questions, screening of articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and assessment of study quality. The results showed that the use of flashcards - both in manual and digital form - consistently contributed positively to the improvement of rhythmic ability, understanding of notation concepts, and affective engagement of learners from various levels. Flashcards proved effective in simplifying complex musical material into concrete visual representations, strengthening long-term memory through retrieval practice and spaced repetition techniques. Furthermore, the integration of flashcards in project-based pedagogical approaches (PjBL), character learning, as well as digital technologies such as apps and AR, shows great potential in enriching music learning experiences that are inclusive, collaborative and meaningful. Therefore, this study recommends the continued development of interactive technology-based flashcard media as a future music learning innovation.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of musical drama as a medium to strengthen computational thinking (CT) among high school students in Jakarta. Computational thinking, a critical 21st-century skill, involves problem-solving through decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking. Despite its importance, CT remains underutilized in art education. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) to design and implement a project-based learning (PjBL) framework centered on musical drama. The study involved 35 grade XI students who participated in an 8-week musical drama project, divided into creative teams to handle various production aspects. Observations, interviews, and documentation revealed that students effectively applied CT components: decomposing tasks, recognizing patterns in performance elements, simplifying complex narratives (abstraction), and organizing systematic workflows (algorithmic thinking). Results indicated significant improvements in students' logical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and confidence. The study highlights the effectiveness of musical drama as an interdisciplinary tool to enhance CT skills while fostering emotional engagement and character development. It also underscores the teacher's role as a facilitator in promoting reflective and participatory learning. The findings align with prior research on PjBL and CT, suggesting broader applicability in art education. Future research could extend this model to basic education or incorporate digital technologies.

Abstract

This study explores the role of negative emotions—such as anxiety, frustration, and self-doubt—on music students' readiness to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their engagement in music learning in Indonesia. Against the backdrop of rapid AI integration in education, the research investigates how these emotions mediate the relationship between AI readiness and student engagement. Using a quantitative approach with structural equation modeling (SEM), data were collected from 500 music students across five Indonesian higher education institutions. The findings reveal that negative emotions significantly influence both AI readiness and engagement levels, highlighting the need for emotional awareness in pedagogical practices. The study contributes to the development of strategies that support students' emotional well-being while fostering their adaptability to AI-driven learning tools, ensuring a holistic and inclusive future for music education.
