Abstract

Cardiac arrest is the biggest dead cause in Europe. In Indonesia, it is estimated there are 10.000 cases of people who has cardiac arrest every year. However cardiac arrest can be handled with cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In Darul Hijrah Putera Islamic Bording School, CPR has not been ever conducted. The method of this research used pre experimental with pre-post test design approach. The technique of collecting the data was by using probability sampling with simple random sampling approach. The samples were 40 respondents. The instrument used knowledge and motivation questioner to obtain respondents’ data on 21st December 2017 in Darul Hijrah Putera Islamic Boarding School. The Result in this research was obtained (p-value 0,000<α=0,05) on CPR action knowledge of the student and it was obtained (p-value= 0,000<α=0,05) on the students’ motivation result. It explains that giving training about RJP to the students affect the knowledge and help the victim of cardiac arrest in student high school in Darul Hijrah Putera Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

NEWS (National Early Warning Score) is a new developmental instrument for early detection of declining patient conditions. Head injury is still a problem in Indonesia and so far its assessment is still based on GCS to know the category of head injury. Therefore, an appropriate early assessment instrument is needed to detect outcomes thus a management plan can be done quickly and accurately. This study aims to know the effectiveness of NEWS use against the outcome of head injury patients. The design of this study is a prospective cohort. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling in 48 head injured patients in three hospitals. The study was conducted from 27 November 2017 to 08 January 2018 with observation and documentation study. The result of analysis shows that p-value is 0,013 <0,05 (H0 is rejected), meaning that there is difference of outcome according to NEWS category. Significant differences were seen in mild and severe category of NEWS (0.013 <0.05). The percentage of NEWS influence on outcome is 78.34%. This suggests that NEWS is effectively used for initial assessment of outcomes of partients with head injury.

Abstract

Head injury is a global problem with mortality and morbidity outcome of 90%. One of the factors that infuence the outcome is the physiological status that can be assessed by using NEWS and RTS as simple validated assessments to predict outcome. This study aimed to compare NEWS and RTS in the outcome prediction of head injury patients. This study used an analytic observational method with prospective cohort design and consecutive sampling technique type in 48 head injured patients at Emergency Room of Ulin Banjarmasin Hospital, Idaman Banjarbaru Hospital, and Ratu Zalecha Martapura Hospital conducted from November 2017 to January 2018. Based on this study, the average age of head injury patients was 35.54 years, male, caused by traffic accidents, and 87.5% of people had living outcomes. Statistical analysis with a diagnostic test revealedthat NEWS accuracy in the outcome prediction of head injury patients had AUC value of 0.911, p<0.001 with 83.33% sensitivity and 83.33% specificity. RTS accuracy analysis in the outcome prediction of head injury patients had AUC value of 0.879, p = 0,001 with 83,33% sensitivity and 92,86%specificity. RTS was excelled and more able to predict the outcome of head injury patients compared to NEWS.

Abstract

Hemorrhagic shock patients require fluid resuscitation, but extra efforts should be made to provide 39 C fluids to avoid hypothermia. One of the media to maintain temperature is a thermos.   The purpose of this research is to identify whether the flasks can keep 39-degree crystalloid fluids at 18 degrees Celsius. This study used a pre-experimental method, with One-Shot Case Study type, 12 bottles of crystalloid liquid was warmed to 39°C, then put into 2 rice flasks, and temperature changes were measured for 6 hours at AC temperature 18˚C. The study was conducted on 30 November 2019.  The findings show that temperatures in 6 bottles of RL liquid decreased by 6.8 -7.4 C and in 6 bottles of NS 0.9% liquid decreased by 5.3 - 6.4 C. Statistical results using the Mann-Whitney p-value is 0,000. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between changes in temperature of lactate Ringer's fluid and normal saline 0,9%. A thermos can maintain a temperature of 39˚C for about 1 hour and can prevent hypothermia from reaching 36˚C for about 3 hours.
