Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of learning style on the biology learning achievement of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sampolawa. This type of research is ex post facto through a quantitative descriptive approach. The sampling technique is saturated sampling. The sample in the study amounted to 80 students. Research data were obtained through questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics through a simple linear regression test. The results showed that descriptively the learning style tendencies owned by class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sampolawa were 23 students with Diverging learning styles with a percentage of 28.8%, Assimilating as many as 20 students with a percentage of 25.0%, Converging as many as 19 students with the percentage are 23.8%. The Accommodating is 18 students with a percentage of 22.5%. Based on the results of the inferential analysis, a significance value of 0.003 was obtained, which was smaller than the value of equal to 0.05, meaning that David Kolb’s learning style had a positive and significant effect on students' learning achievement in biology.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between scientific literacy and students' critical thinking skills in biology science material in junior high schools. The research used a quantitative correlation method. The subjects in this study were the students in the eighth grade of junior high school SMPN 9 Buton consisted of 68 people. The research instrument was in the form of multiple choice questions to measure scientific literacy skills and essay questions to measure students' critical thinking skills. The research data obtained were then analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics through the product-moment correlation test. Results of descriptive statistics show that literacy science and student critical thinking there in four criteria excellent, good, enough, and low. The inferential statistic analysis results show that the significance value of the correlation between scientific literacy and critical thinking skills is 0.001 less than the alpha value of 0.05. Based on the results can be concluded there is a positive and significant correlation between scientific literacy and students' critical thinking skills in the circulatory system material.

Abstract

The competency of creative thinking for students is very important in the era of global competition because of the level of complexity. This is because creative thinking skills are included in the six competencies that must be possessed in competition in the 21st century. This is because creative thinking skills are included in the six competencies that must be possessed in facing competition in the 21st century. Project-based learning is one method that can be used to train and improve students' creative thinking skills. This research aims to analyze students' critical thinking abilities through a project-based learning model in environmental knowledge courses. The method used in this research is descriptive. The research subjects consisted of 38 participants. The instrument used in this research is an essay test, and four indicators of creative thinking skills are considered: fluency thinking, flexible thinking, original thinking, and elaboration ability. The data analysis technique used is descriptive. The research results show that students' creative thinking abilities in environmental knowledge courses are in the high (creative) category, with a total score for all indicators is 74,75. It indicates that project-based learning is an effective strategy adapted to train and improve students' creative thinking abilities. Project-based learning is an innovative student-centered learning method where students can work autonomously to construct their learning. This is thought to cause students' creative thinking ability scores in environmental knowledge courses to be in the high category.
