Abstract

The increase in mental health problems, especially among students, requires actions that do not solely rely on formal clinical services. One non-clinical method that is considered relevant, affordable, and easily accessible is bibliotherapy, especially in the context of libraries as community-based places. The purpose of this article is to explore the role of librarians as non-clinical mental health supporters through the implementation of developmental bibliotherapy in libraries. The methodology used in this study was a qualitative approach with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of nineteen relevant scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. The research findings indicate that developmental bibliotherapy has the potential to provide initial psychosocial support, such as the development of emotional literacy, coping skills, and reduction of stress and anxiety levels among users, especially students. In practice, librarians play a key role in curating reading materials, facilitating access to reflective information, and creating a safe environment that supports mental well-being without violating non-clinical role boundaries. Thus, the implementation of bibliotherapy also faces various ethical and professional challenges, especially those related to the boundaries of the librarian's role, user privacy protection, and the need for training and interprofessional collaboration. This article emphasizes the role of librarians as facilitators of mental health based on bibliotherapy in university libraries in Indonesia, and also provides practical suggestions for service development and improving librarians' skills in mental health literacy.

Abstract

Tingkat literasi indonesia yang masih rendah, terutama di wilayah pedesaan dengan minimnya bahan bacaan, mendorong dilakukannya pengabdian ini. Tujuan utama kegiatan ini adalah mendiirkan Taman Baca Masyarakat (TBM) sebagai upaya yang simetris untuk menumbuhkan motivasi dan kebiasan membaca bagi anak-anak Sekolah Dasar dan masyarakat Desa Cipayung. Metode yang di gunakan adalah Kuliah Kerja Nyata (kukerta) UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten dengan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), di mana mahasiswa dan masyarakat berkolaborasi aktif dalam penyiapan fasilitas TBM selama kurang lebih tiga minggu. Proses ini mencakup observasi awal, penentuan lokasi di bangunan tak terpakai, pengadaan donasi buku, hingga penyiapan fisik ruang TBM dengan gotong royong, seperti pengecatan dan pembuatan rak buku dari barang bekas. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa TBM berhasil didirikan dan diresmikan sebagai pusat kegiatan non-formal dan sosial. Keberhasilan ini ditandai dengan tingginya kolaborasi dan gotong royong masyarakat dalam penyiapan fisik TBM. Antusiasme terlihat dari partisipasi lebih dari 40 orang dalam acara peresmian. Kesimpulan, TBM mampu menjadi katalisator perubahan budaya, memberdayakan masyarakat melalui literasi, dan menumbuhkan semangat membaca

Abstract

This study aims to examine the level of effectiveness of electronic book applications among students of UIN SMH Banten in meeting their academic information needs. The presence of e-book applications from the UIN SMH Banten Library enables students to access information more quickly and flexibly, eliminating the need to visit the library. Thus, this application has the potential to increase efficiency in the learning process and the preparation of academic assignments. The approach employed was quantitative, utilizing a survey method that involved 30 research samples selected through a purposive sampling technique, specifically, students who had used e-book applications. This sample size was determined based on the limited number of active users and considerations of research efficiency. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis with the help of the SPSS program to determine the relationship between application effectiveness and information utilization. The results showed a significant positive relationship between the effectiveness of e-book applications and the fulfillment of students' information needs (r = 0.803; p < 0.05), indicating a strong relationship category. In this context, this study contributes to the literature by examining the effectiveness of e-book applications using the Uses and Gratification approach in the context of Islamic religious higher education (PTKI), a topic that has been previously discussed in research. These findings suggest that the use of e-book applications can enhance the efficiency of information access, support the learning process, and promote digital learning in higher education environments.

Abstract

Digital preservation plays an important role in safeguarding cultural heritage. Along with the development of the times, cultural heritage as a valuableassetcannot be separated from potential threats in the form of damage and loss. Digital preservation is an aspect of opportunity in maintaining the sustainability of cultural heritage values. Through a qualitative approach with the literature study method, this research seeks to provide an overview of aspects of digital preservation in relation to efforts to protect cultural heritage. The results of the study illustrate that digital preservation has strong relevance in terms of protecting cultural heritage values from damage and loss. The involvement of technology in digital preservation results in convenience in efforts to save cultural heritage by representing cultural material in digital formats. Digital preservation has various challenges including technological obsolescence, loss or damage to data, intellectual property rights, preservation costs, metadata and contextual information, skills and expertise, social and ethical considerations, utilization, and various other things according to the context of implementation. A digital preservation strategy that includes aspects of technological environmental conservation for future use and handling of technical limitations is an integral part of overcoming existing challenges. By implementing various strategies and actively participating in the realm of digital preservation activities, the existence of cultural heritage with its noble values can be maintained and gain long-term accessibility for the sustainability of future generations.
