Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by increased blood sugar levels. Poor eating patterns, including inappropriate meal times and inappropriate amounts of food consumption, can affect blood sugar levels in the body.The aim of this research isto determine the relationship between the size of the diet portion served and blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients at RSUD Datu Beru Kab. Central Aceh in 2023.The method used is a quantitative method,analytical observationalwith approachcross-sectional. This research was carried out from September 2023 to May 2024. The type of data is primary data obtained from the patient's general description questionnaire and data on the portion size served was obtained from direct weighing and secondary data was obtained from the patient care book, namely data on blood sugar levels 2 hours after eating. The method for collecting data is by using questionnaire sheets, checking maintenance books and eating scales. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis using the Fisher exact test. The research results showed that as many as 82.0% had high kgd (>180mg/dl) and 18% had normal kgd (80-179mg/dl). There were 23.6% good portions served and 76.4% poor food portions. The results of the Fisher test show p <0.05 (0.002) and have a PR value >1 (4.2) which is a risk factor between the size of the portion served and the blood sugar levels of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The conclusion is that the size of the portion served is partly The size does not match the standard portions served, causing respondents to have higher blood sugar levels 2 hours after eating. There is a significant relationship and 4 times higher risk between the size of the diet portion and blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Suggestions for Hospitals should improve the quality of health services, especially food services, and nutritionists/nutritionists should be able to supervise the portioning process to produce food portions that suit patient needs.

Abstract

Stunting masih menjadi permasalahan gizi kronis pada balita yang berdampak terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak. Salah satu upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan adalah melalui edukasi dan pemberian makanan tambahan (PMT) bergizi tinggi. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu balita serta memperkenalkan PMT berbasis pangan lokal berupa abon hati ayam sebagai sumber zat besi dalam upaya pencegahan stunting. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Posyandu Post 2 Mekar Gampong Suak Ribee dengan sasaran ibu yang memiliki balita. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyuluhan, demonstrasi pembuatan abon hati ayam, serta pemberian PMT kepada balita. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pengukuran pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan ibu balita mengenai pentingnya PMT dan pencegahan stunting, serta penerimaan yang baik terhadap abon hati ayam sebagai alternatif makanan tambahan bergizi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu strategi berbasis masyarakat dalam pencegahan stunting melalui pemanfaatan pangan lokal yang mudah diakses dan bernilai gizi tinggi.

Abstract

Background: Moringa oleifera Lam. represents a crucial botanical asset globally, yet its localized phytochemical expressions under specific coastal microclimates remain under-explored, threatening the standardization of community-based traditional medicine. M. oleifera Lam. is a versatile, multipurpose tree species that holds significant importance in the ethnomedicine of the West Aceh community. While previous studies heavily rely on dried extracts, this study establishes the baseline phytochemical integrity of fresh, unextracted coastal specimens, bridging the gap between empirical local preparation methods and laboratory validation. This study aimed to characterize the qualitative phytochemical profile of M. oleifera leaves sourced from Kaway XVI Subdistrict and to document their traditional applications as a basis for scientific validation. Methodology:  Employing a qualitative experimental, phytochemical screening was performed directly on fresh leaf samples using standardized assays-including Mayer’s, Wagner’s, and Dragendorff’s tests for alkaloids, the Shinoda test for flavonoids, and the ferric chloride test for phenolics—thereby minimizing the degradation of secondary metabolites often associated with intensive solvent extraction processes. Findings: The qualitative analysis revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, saponins, tannins, and steroids, while terpenoids were notably absent. The identification of these bioactive constituents provides scientific substantiation for the local ethnomedicinal use of M. oleifera as both a nutritional supplement and a galactagogue agent. This study provides a baseline phytochemical profile derived from fresh, non-extracted plant material, offering a more ecologically relevant representation of bioactive compounds as utilized in traditional practices. Contribution: The findings contribute to bridging the gap between empirical ethnomedicine and laboratory validation, and support the standardization of Moringa as material for nutraceutical, and functional food development
