Abstract

Generally, television programs are divided into two parts, which are popular entertaining program called entertainment program and information called news program Television station provides as how that covers the two elements which is known as edutainment. Si Otan program is an edutainment program that explains about animal world. Based on that, to know how far Si Otan program gives influence so that it can broaden knowledge and change perception about animal world. The data of the research were reviewed by using learning theory by Jerome Bruner, the theory that emphasizes the way how people choose, maintain, and actively transform the information. Knowing that Si Otan program can be well accepted by children, so they can understand and draw the information they get from the program. Qualitative research method wasused to know directly the children's perceptions based on their learning process. The result of the research showed that edutainment program that involved animation attracted children's learning interestso that the obtained information became a useful knowledge.

Abstract

This study is a critical perspective in exploring changes in social, cultural and political forms related to the development of contemporary communication technology. The main theme of this research is YouTube's digital space with the topic of utilizing the main features of geo-tagging, hashtags and live streaming. Researchers observed three content creators in utilizing the features of the digital platform to carry out social interactions and actions. The purpose of this study is to explain that the character of the users and the current use of digital platforms is a representation of the interaction and socio-cultural situation of contemporary society as a part of the digital ecosystem. This research is qualitative in nature with specific observations on micro phenomena, so the results are not generalizations, but in the form of data findings to support the hypothesis, namely the importance of a critical perspective of digital ecology to explain contemporary digital ecosystem phenomena. This article is supported by comparative descriptions and descriptions of the development of several theoretical models as well as social-technological changes that have occurred before. This research contributes to providing an important perspective that media and technology studies must move from discussions about human and technology interactions, to discussions about human interactions in technology. As a study of ongoing phenomena, the researcher places this research by opening up to the potential for the latest changes that can occur along with technological developments.

Abstract

Film is an audio-visual product that cannot be separated from the audio and visual elements themselves. Audio in films is something important, because audio or sound in films can provide an experience that is captured by the human listener's senses in addition to the visualization of the film. The beauty of films is captured by the visual senses, while the beauty of music is captured by the auditory senses. Apart from being an illustration of a scene, music in films can also manipulate the audience's emotions without realizing it. The interaction between visual and auditory experiences has its own charm in every setting. Thor Love and Thunder (2022) film marks changes in atmosphere in the film by using leitmotif techniques in the music or score. Leitmotif is a technique of bringing together meaning, memory, and emotion in music that can produce a richer listening experience and a better understanding of the enduring appeal of dramatic music (Stull, 2015:2). Leitmotif is a term that describes music as a marker of the presence of an idea, concept, character or motif in a story.

Abstract

This research focuses on the importance of disaster information literacy for women's groups. This is crucial as a factor that determines the level of safety of residents in potentially disaster-affected areas, particularly those who had been affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in 2023 in Lumajang, East Jawa. Through gendered methodology and open ended questions, researchers managed to map the main problems faced by women's groups in accessing important information sources to reduce disaster risk. Conducted between May and June 2023, the research underscored a significant gap in women's literacy concerning digital media, such as social platforms and mobile applications. Even though women are a group that has broad access to social life and can be a liaison of information from outside to all family members. The findings in this study also emphasize the importance of utilizing social capital and integrating women's groups with the government and the main sources of disaster information. By establishing an effective system for distributing disaster knowledge, there is a potential to enhance the disaster information literacy of women's groups and bolster the safety of residents in disaster-prone areas through the implementation of risk communication protocols.Abstrak Penelitian ini berfokus pada pentingnya literasi informasi bencana bagi kelompok perempuan. Hal ini sangat penting karena merupakan faktor penentu tingkat keselamatan penduduk di daerah yang berpotensi terkena dampak bencana, terutama mereka yang terdampak oleh letusan Gunung Semeru pada tahun 2023 di Lumajang, Jawa Timur. Melalui metodologi berbasis gender dan pertanyaan terbuka, para peneliti berhasil memetakan masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh kelompok perempuan dalam mengakses sumber informasi penting untuk mengurangi risiko bencana. Dilaksanakan antara bulan Mei dan Juni 2023, penelitian ini menyoroti kesenjangan yang signifikan dalam literasi perempuan mengenai media digital, seperti platform sosial dan aplikasi seluler. Meskipun perempuan adalah kelompok yang memiliki akses yang luas ke kehidupan sosial dan dapat menjadi perantara informasi dari luar kepada semua anggota keluarga. Temuan dalam penelitian ini juga menekankan pentingnya memanfaatkan modal sosial dan mengintegrasikan kelompok perempuan dengan pemerintah dan sumber utama informasi bencana. Pembentukan aliran distribusi pengetahuan bencana yang baik berpotensi meningkatkan kemampuan literasi informasi bencana kelompok perempuan dan meningkatkan keselamatan penduduk di daerah yang berisiko terdampak bencana melalui protokol komunikasi risiko.

Abstract

Music videos by independent musicians represent a new portrait of the music industry in the digital era. This article tries to look at how YouTube has influenced the learning patterns, production patterns, and performance patterns of music content creators in the digital space. A review of the literature in this study connects art, technology, and the media. The research method used is a case study with the object of two independent music channels, Jember on YouTube. The data was obtained through creator interviews and observations of independent music channels, as well as library studies, which were then tested for validity by triangulation of sources. Qualitative data analysis is done descriptively. The findings reveal how content creators start their channels, gain popularity, interact with subscribers, and promote their music careers through YouTube. There was a rather fundamental paradigm shift in the concept of amateur musicians and professional musicians as YouTube became a digital space to be counted on for sharing artwork. Advanced research is recommended to focus on the influence of the YouTube platform on culture, capital economic issues, economy sharing, its exposure to the audience, and its function as a source of learning. Abstract

Abstract This research discusses the role of mise-en-scene in the process of self-efficacy of Chiron's character in Moonlight. The purpose of this research is to describe the role of the mise-en-scene in the visual aspect of Chiron's self-efficacy process. The data of this study were studied using Bordwell and Thompson's mise-en-scene theory, as well as Albert Bandura's observational learning which focuses on aspects of mise-en-scene (settings, costumes and make-up, lighting, as well as characthers and their movements) and the four forming factors of selff efficacy (mastery of experience, social modeling, social persuasion, and physical and emotional conditions). The results of the data analysis conclude that there are eleven scenes with mise-en-scene aspects that support the formation of the chiron character's self-efficacy process in the three story stages. Social modeling, social persuasion, and physical and emotional conditions occur in the first to third stages, while mastery of experience only occurs in the third stage. Abstract

Pesantren Darul Muttaqien di Jember berkomitmen memberdayakan ekonomi santri melalui usaha kreatif. Namun, keterbatasan kemampuan santri dalam pemasaran online menjadi kendala dalam memperluas jangkauan pasar produk-produk pesantren. Untuk mengatasi kendala ini, dilakukan program pelatihan pembuatan video promosi sebagai strategi pemasaran online. Pelatihan bertujuan meningkatkan kreativitas santri memproduksi konten digital yang efektif dan menarik, sesuai dengan nilai-nilai pesantren. Metode pelatihan mencakup kombinasi teori dan praktik, meliputi materi pemasaran digital, teknik produksi video, serta optimasi konten untuk platform media sosial. Program ini berlangsung selama dua minggu dengan pendampingan intensif. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan santri dalam menghasilkan video promosi yang menarik secara visual dan informatif. Produk-produk pesantren berhasil menjangkau audiens yang lebih luas melalui platform media sosial, yang berdampak pada peningkatan kesadaran merek dan potensi penjualan. Program ini berdampak positif terhadap pengembangan ekonomi pesantren, tebukti dengan keterampilandan kreativitas yang tepat, santri dapat menjadi konten kreator yang kompeten. kegiatan ini menegaskan pentingnya teknologi digital dalam mendukung kemandirian ekonomi berbasis nilai spiritual di pesantren.

Abstract

The rise of digital platforms has profoundly transformed film production and consumption, shifting cinema to internet-based media like YouTube. This development necessitates an understanding of how film aesthetics, viewing practices, and industrial structures evolve in the digital age. While prior scholarship mainly examined industrial transitions and social media’s influence, there’s a critical gap in how digital platforms, specifically YouTube, reconfigure cinematic aesthetics and ontology. This study employs a qualitative integrative literature review to examine how YouTube, as a platform, rearticulates cinema’s aesthetic dimensions and ontology. Key findings reveal three core themes: YouTube reimagines early cinematic aesthetics (e.g., short duration, spectacle) as “digital attraction” through algorithmic optimization; it operates as a modern exhibition machine, commodifying content via its interface and algorithms; and these platform-driven dynamics generate significant socio-economic implications, compelling cinematic labor into a “prosumer” model and transforming traditional film consumption into a “hyper-social non-place”. Ultimately, YouTube embodies a paradoxical hybrid cinematic environment, challenging filmmakers or content creators to balance artistic integrity with commercial demands. This study highlights the need to critically re-evaluate cinema’s evolving form and function.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines how the narratives of digital technology and brand image are constructed in the Apple “Crush! iPad Pro” and Samsung “Creativity Cannot Be Crushed” advertisements, with a focus on the influence of the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) perspective on branding strategies. Method: A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, analyzing screen captures from both advertisements. The analysis utilized mise en scène elements and was interpreted through Roland Barthes' semiotic theory to uncover the underlying messages. Results: The findings reveal that Samsung projects a brand image that is adaptive and responsive to user needs, whereas Apple constructs a more exclusive brand identity that requires users to align with its technological ecosystem. Novelty: This research contributes to the limited studies integrating SCOT theory with semiotic analysis in the context of brand communication, offering new insights into how different technological perspectives shape brand narratives and visual strategies in competitive advertising.

Abstract

Strengthening local identity is a crucial effort to maintain the sustainability of cultural values and economic potential of a village. This community service research aims to document sago palm MSME products as a representation of the local identity of Bangsalsari Village, with the active involvement of Generation Z. The methods used are a participatory approach through digital documentation training, interviews with MSME actors, and the publication of creative content based on social media. The results of the activity show that the documentation of sago palm products not only strengthens local branding but also increases marketing appeal with visual narratives that are attractive and easily accessible to the wider community. Generation Z, with their digital native skills, are able to utilize photography, videography, and social media technology to expand the reach of promotion while instilling a sense of pride in local potential. Furthermore, the collaboration between MSME players and the younger generation creates synergy that drives the development of the creative economy in the village. This program has a significant impact, not only on increasing the economic value of MSMEs, but also on strengthening the cultural identity of the Bangsalsari community. In the future, digital documentation carried out by the younger generation has the potential to become a model for sustainable empowerment based on local wisdom. Penguatan identitas lokal adalah upaya krusial untuk menjaga keberlanjutan nilai budaya dan potensi ekonomi suatu desa. Penelitian pengabdian ini bertujuan mendokumentasikan produk UMKM sagu aren sebagai representasi identitas lokal Desa Bangsalsari, dengan melibatkan peran aktif Generasi Z. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif melalui pelatihan dokumentasi digital, wawancara dengan pelaku UMKM, serta publikasi konten kreatif berbasis media sosial. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa dokumentasi produk sagu aren tidak hanya memperkuat branding lokal, tetapi juga meningkatkan daya tarik pemasaran dengan narasi visual yang menarik dan mudah diakses oleh masyarakat luas. Generasi Z, dengan kemampuan digital native yang dimilikinya, mampu memanfaatkan teknologi fotografi, videografi, dan media sosial untuk memperluas jangkauan promosi sekaligus menanamkan rasa bangga terhadap potensi lokal. Lebih jauh lagi, kolaborasi antara pelaku UMKM dan generasi muda menciptakan sinergi yang mendorong pengembangan ekonomi kreatif di desa. Program ini memberikan dampak signifikan, tidak hanya pada peningkatan nilai ekonomi UMKM, tetapi juga pada penguatan identitas kultural masyarakat Bangsalsari. Di masa depan, dokumentasi digital yang dilakukan oleh generasi muda berpotensi menjadi model pemberdayaan berbasis kearifan lokal yang berkelanjutan.
