Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) has numerous properties, making it a potential dietary, medicinal, and cosmetic element. As accordingly, organic methods must be implemented to enhance cucumber productivity. Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) is used as biologic fertilizer and biological control agent. Seed priming with PGPR was the strategy utilized in this experiment. To optimize this strategy, this study must be undertaken to identify the reaction of seed priming PGPR Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens to Cucumis sativus L. growth and yield.      The study design employs a split-plot design with two components, two variations of soaking time duration and four variations of concentration of PGPR. The plant’s height, the amount of leaves, and dry weight of the root were all noted as the plant growth parameters observed. The harvest criteria observed included the quantity and weight of fruits per plant. The variance approach (F test) was used to assess the observations. The Least Significant Difference (LSD) test is subsequently applied to evaluate the differences throughout treatments at a significant threshold of 5%.. Growth and yield parameters responded differently in each treatment. However, all of the results obtained following statistical testing revealed that the reaction was not significantly different. This study gives vital information for farmers in optimizing cucumber production and implementing organic farming practices by employing PGPR as a biological fertilizer, indicating that further land selection is required.

Abstract

Every person has a fundamental need to drink water. However, the environment today presents conditions—like the clean water crisis—that every person needs to be aware of. Compared to other water demands, drinking water must meet strict quality standards because it will enter the body. As a result, in order to assess the drinking water quality in the vicinity of Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya using Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia Nomor 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010, research must be conducted. In this investigation, three types of water samples were collected from a single drinking water source: spring water, filtered water, and water that has undergone ultraviolet (UV) light processing. In this investigation, chemical, physical, and biological characteristics were taken into consideration. The three samples' chemical and physical parameters results surpass the quality standards. Nevertheless, the three samples did not comply with the standard of quality microbiologically.

Abstract

Margacinta Village has abundant tourism potential, one of which is natural honey bee cultivation. Honey farmers in Margacinta Village are organized into the Taruna Karya Honey Farmer Group. During the harvest season, the honey produced by farmers is abundant (60 to 80 liters, but during the rainy season, honey farmers in Margacinta Village have the potential to experience crop failure, this clearly threatens the economy of honey farmers in Margaacinta Village. The implementation of this service is to develop tourism with the concept of agro-eduwisata. Development is carried out in several stages, starting from education, training, and practice for honey farmers, establishing mini ecosystems as a source of bee feed and agro-educational destinations, and marketing on various platforms. The service was carried out in response to community problems in Margacinta Village, so that the purpose of this service was to improve the economy of the community in general, the Taruna Karya Farmer Group in particular. The targeted outputs are the formation of honey village agro-tourism, the publication of the Apiscerana honey bee cultivation module, the existence of standard packaging standards for raw products, marketing of local products and honey village agro-tourism packages, the formation of mini bee ecosystems, and honey extraction using machine extractors so that the honey obtained is of higher quality.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of land application of farm dairy effluent (FDE) on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays var. saccharata). The agricultural sector faces increasing challenges in managing effluents sustainably, and the utilization of FDE as a potential nutrient source for crop production has gained prominence. Field experiments were conducted to assess the effects of FDE application on sweet corn with different rate of irrigation. Randomized completely block design was used an experimental design with different irrigation rate i.e. A = 0% FC effluent, B = 25% FC effluent, C = 50% FC effluent, D = 75% FC effluent, and E = 100% FC. The collected data was analyzed by using ANOVA with 5% of significance, a further test is performed using duncan multiple range test. The results showed that  FDE had TDS, TSS, BOD and COD higher than the standard with values of 1398 mg/L, 2575 mg/L, 3611 mg/L and 6374 mg/L respectively. The application of FDE significantly influenced sweet corn growth especially on height and leaf increment. The application of FDE with 100% FC tends to have higher leaf increment than other treatments at 35 DAA (day after application).
