Abstract

Service quality in higher education has become a key indicator of institutional effectiveness, particularly for universities seeking to remain competitive and responsive to student expectations. Although instructional leadership and organizational culture are recognized as important internal determinants of service performance, their combined influence on service quality and student satisfaction in private higher education institutions remains insufficiently explored. This study examines how instructional leadership and organizational culture interact to influence service quality and student satisfaction at Universitas Sindang Kasih Majalengka, Indonesia.  This research employed a qualitative case study design to explore leadership practices and cultural dynamics within the university’s service system. Data were collected from 21 informants, including university leaders, administrative staff, and active students, through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that instructional leadership provides clearer task direction, strengthens employee discipline, and promotes more consistent workflow management. In parallel, a collaborative and open organizational culture improves interdepartmental coordination, enhances communication, and supports collective problem-solving in administrative services. The interaction between leadership guidance and cultural support increases service responsiveness, reduces procedural delays, and positively shapes students’ perceptions of service quality. The study proposes an Instructional–Culture Service Model in which leadership functions as a structural driver while organizational culture sustains service performance. Aligning leadership practices with supportive cultural values is essential for achieving sustainable improvements in service quality and student satisfaction in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing challenge faced by Islamic da’wah institutions in balancing managerial effectiveness with the preservation of spiritual values. Many religious organizations struggle to integrate performance-based leadership with transcendental and prophetic principles, leading to either managerial stagnation or value dilution. In response to this issue, this research aims to examine how a spiritual-transformational leadership model is constructed at the Al-Bahjah Da'wah Development Institute (LPD) and how it shapes organizational culture and institutional commitment. This study employs a qualitative design grounded in a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through systematic field observation, in-depth interviews with organizational actors, and analysis of institutional documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic interpretation involving coding, categorization, and reflective triangulation to ensure credibility and analytical rigor. The findings reveal that leadership at LPD Al-Bahjah is built on the integration of tawhid-based values, moral exemplarity (uswah), a visionary da’wah orientation, and the structured empowerment of human resources. This integration generates a religious-adaptive organizational culture characterized by collective worship practices, high member loyalty, ethical innovation, and sustained institutional growth. The study demonstrates that spiritual and transformational dimensions function synergistically rather than separately, forming a leadership model that strengthens organizational identity, commitment, and resilience amid contemporary social change.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies employed by madrasah principals in managing educational programs and enhancing the quality of graduates in Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA). The research addresses the limited scholarly attention given to leadership practices in non-formal Islamic educational institutions, particularly regarding how principals manage educational programs to meet community expectations and improve graduate outcomes. This study aims to analyze the managerial strategies implemented by madrasah principals and to identify leadership characteristics that contribute to educational quality improvement. The study applied a qualitative research approach through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation conducted at MDTA Uswatun Hasanah Harjamukti and MDTA Darul Fikr Lemahwungkuk from February 5 to 15, 2025. Data were analyzed descriptively to interpret leadership practices and educational management strategies implemented in both institutions. The findings reveal that graduate quality improvement is influenced by several managerial strategies, including curriculum development, student-centered learning activities, the application of appropriate teaching methods, teacher qualification standards, competency development programs, evaluation systems, and institutional collaboration. The study also identifies the IKLAS leadership framework, Innovative, Creative, Evaluative, Accommodative, and Selective, as a contextual leadership model that strengthens the effectiveness of educational program management in MDTA institutions. This study contributes to the development of leadership studies in non-formal Islamic education by offering a practicum.
