Abstract

Service quality in higher education has become a key indicator of institutional effectiveness, particularly for universities seeking to remain competitive and responsive to student expectations. Although instructional leadership and organizational culture are recognized as important internal determinants of service performance, their combined influence on service quality and student satisfaction in private higher education institutions remains insufficiently explored. This study examines how instructional leadership and organizational culture interact to influence service quality and student satisfaction at Universitas Sindang Kasih Majalengka, Indonesia.  This research employed a qualitative case study design to explore leadership practices and cultural dynamics within the university’s service system. Data were collected from 21 informants, including university leaders, administrative staff, and active students, through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that instructional leadership provides clearer task direction, strengthens employee discipline, and promotes more consistent workflow management. In parallel, a collaborative and open organizational culture improves interdepartmental coordination, enhances communication, and supports collective problem-solving in administrative services. The interaction between leadership guidance and cultural support increases service responsiveness, reduces procedural delays, and positively shapes students’ perceptions of service quality. The study proposes an Instructional–Culture Service Model in which leadership functions as a structural driver while organizational culture sustains service performance. Aligning leadership practices with supportive cultural values is essential for achieving sustainable improvements in service quality and student satisfaction in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing challenge faced by Islamic da’wah institutions in balancing managerial effectiveness with the preservation of spiritual values. Many religious organizations struggle to integrate performance-based leadership with transcendental and prophetic principles, leading to either managerial stagnation or value dilution. In response to this issue, this research aims to examine how a spiritual-transformational leadership model is constructed at the Al-Bahjah Da'wah Development Institute (LPD) and how it shapes organizational culture and institutional commitment. This study employs a qualitative design grounded in a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through systematic field observation, in-depth interviews with organizational actors, and analysis of institutional documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic interpretation involving coding, categorization, and reflective triangulation to ensure credibility and analytical rigor. The findings reveal that leadership at LPD Al-Bahjah is built on the integration of tawhid-based values, moral exemplarity (uswah), a visionary da’wah orientation, and the structured empowerment of human resources. This integration generates a religious-adaptive organizational culture characterized by collective worship practices, high member loyalty, ethical innovation, and sustained institutional growth. The study demonstrates that spiritual and transformational dimensions function synergistically rather than separately, forming a leadership model that strengthens organizational identity, commitment, and resilience amid contemporary social change.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies employed by madrasah principals in managing educational programs and enhancing the quality of graduates in Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA). The research addresses the limited scholarly attention given to leadership practices in non-formal Islamic educational institutions, particularly regarding how principals manage educational programs to meet community expectations and improve graduate outcomes. This study aims to analyze the managerial strategies implemented by madrasah principals and to identify leadership characteristics that contribute to educational quality improvement. The study applied a qualitative research approach through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation conducted at MDTA Uswatun Hasanah Harjamukti and MDTA Darul Fikr Lemahwungkuk from February 5 to 15, 2025. Data were analyzed descriptively to interpret leadership practices and educational management strategies implemented in both institutions. The findings reveal that graduate quality improvement is influenced by several managerial strategies, including curriculum development, student-centered learning activities, the application of appropriate teaching methods, teacher qualification standards, competency development programs, evaluation systems, and institutional collaboration. The study also identifies the IKLAS leadership framework, Innovative, Creative, Evaluative, Accommodative, and Selective, as a contextual leadership model that strengthens the effectiveness of educational program management in MDTA institutions. This study contributes to the development of leadership studies in non-formal Islamic education by offering a practicum.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media on cultural diversity materials as an innovative product to strengthen cultural literacy and language skills among Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students in Cirebon City. Using the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), this research focused on producing, validating, and testing the effectiveness of AR media in classroom learning. Data were obtained through literacy and language skill assessments, observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed statistically, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The results show that the developed AR-based media is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ cultural literacy and language performance. Statistical tests indicate significant differences in student outcomes before and after the use of AR media (sig = 0.00 < 0.05). The interactive nature of AR helped students connect cultural content with language expression more meaningfully. The study concludes that AR-based learning media serves as a creative educational innovation to improve literacy and communication skills while fostering appreciation of Indonesia’s cultural diversity among MI students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, evaluation, and challenges of parenting management in strengthening early childhood spirituality at Raudhatul Athfal institutions in Indramayu. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with teachers and parents, observation of activities, and document analysis of academic programs. The findings show that parenting programs were systematically planned at the beginning of the academic year through work meetings involving school leaders, teachers, committees, and parents. Programs were implemented in two main forms: seminars addressing child development and spirituality, and joint activities such as outing classes, cooking classes, and manasik haji training that encouraged parent–child interaction. Evaluation was carried out during and after the activities through discussions, questionnaires, and internal meetings, providing feedback for program improvement. Despite these efforts, challenges remained, including limited parental attendance, inadequate facilities, and weak collaboration between schools and families. The results indicate that structured parenting management strengthens parents’ understanding and participation in fostering children’s spiritual development. This research concludes that effective collaboration between schools and parents through managed parenting programs plays a vital role in building children’s spiritual foundations, providing valuable insights for educators and policymakers in early childhood education.

Abstract

Managerial transparency has become one of the essential principles in the governance of modern educational institutions, including madrasahs. Despite its recognized importance, most existing studies focus on general school settings, leaving the specific dynamics of transparency practices in madrasah contexts underexplored. However, empirical studies examining the influence of management transparency on teacher performance within madrasah environments remain relatively limited. This study addresses this gap by situating transparency within the unique organizational and cultural characteristics of madrasahs. This study aims to analyze the effect of transparency-based management on teacher performance at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 9 Indramayu. The research employed a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire involving all permanent teachers as respondents (n = 30) using a total sampling technique. Because the sample consisted of only 30 teachers, the results cannot be widely generalized. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicate that the level of managerial transparency in the madrasah falls within the good category (M = 4.21; SD = 0.42), while teacher performance is categorized as very good (M = 4.33; SD = 0.38). Regression analysis shows that transparency-based management has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (R = 0.723; R² = 0.523; p < 0.05). This finding indicates that approximately 52.3% of the variation in teacher performance in this study sample can be explained by management transparency practices, while the remaining proportion is influenced by other factors such as intrinsic motivation, the leadership of the madrasah principal, and workload. These results empirically demonstrate that transparency is not merely a procedural aspect of governance but a substantial predictor of teacher performance in faith-based educational institutions. These findings support organizational justice theory, which highlights the role of openness and clarity in building trust and commitment. Furthermore, this study extends the theory by illustrating how transparency operates within a madrasah setting, where formal administrative practices intersect with religious and social values. In madrasahs, managerial transparency functions not only as an administrative mechanism but also as a means to strengthen professional relationships between leaders and teachers. Thus, the study contributes conceptually by contextualizing organizational justice theory in Islamic educational institutions. This study concludes that transparency-based management can improve teacher performance and promote more accountable and participatory governance.
