Abstract

Fish torso props are learning media that can be used to understand the subject about fish morphology and anatomy. The subject is one of the difficulties for students because students' understanding of the concept of the subject is still relatively low. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the effect of fish torso tool and the magnitude of the influence they have on student learning outcomes. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The samples used in this research were grade X students of the Freshwater Fisheries Agribusiness skills program at SMKN 1 Warunggunung which consisted of two classes that is class X APAT 1 as the control class and class X APAT 2 as the experimental class. The control class will apply learning using Powerpoint media while the experimental class will apply learning using fish torso tool as media. Moreover, the data collection methods used were tests in the form of pretests and posttests, as well as non-tests in the form of observation and documentation. The research results show that the average N-gain scores in the experimental class is 68% while in the control class it was 37%. Therefore, it shows that the fish torso tool has an influence on student learning outcomes. The magnitude of this influence is proven through the effect size test which obtained a value of 1.865. Thus, it can be concluded that the fish torso tools have quite an effective effect on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Masyarakat Desa Ketapang, Kabupaten Tangeran, Provinsi Banten memiliki mangrove yang dimanfaatkan sebagai pencegah abrasi dan ekowisata mangrove. Sebagian besar masyarakat pesisir menggantungkan perekonomiannya sebagai nelayan, tambak, budidaya. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan dan meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat pesisir melalui pengembangan produk olahan bolu kukus buah mangrove yang dilakukan pada bulan Januari – April 2024. Metode pelaksanaan dalam pengabdian ini adalah metode participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) yang merupakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan data diperoleh dari observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara langsung pada masyarakat pesisir yang terlibat langsung yaitu ibu nelayan pengupas kulit kerang. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan produk olahan bolu kukus buah mangrove dapat meningkatkan keterampilan dan pendapatan masyarakat pesisir desa ketapang sebagai penghasilan tambahan. Kegiatan ini dapat memberdayakan perempuan wilayah pesisir memiliki peran dan haknya dalam memenuhi kebutuhan ekonomi.

Abstract

Nori merupakan makanan kering berbahan baku rumput laut Porphyra sp. Ketertarikan masyarakat terhadap nori berdampak pada nilai impor produk nori yang meningkat setiap tahunnya. Ketersediaan rumput laut Porphyra sp. sebagai bahan baku nori terbatas. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan bahan baku alternatif pengganti Porphyra sp. dalam pembuatan nori. Rumput laut yang melimpah di perairan Indonesia dan berpotensi sebagai bahan baku nori, di antaranya Ulva lactuca, Gracilaria sp., dan Euchema spinosum. Pemanfaatan rumput laut lokal menjadi produk nori memerlukan tambahan bahan sebagai penyalut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan penyalut terbaik dalam pembuatan nori berdasarkan karakteristik sifat sensori dan nilai proksimat. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan perbedaan variasi penyalut nori-like product. Penelitian dilakukan tiga tahap, yaitu preparasi rumput laut, pembuatan nori, dan proses penyalutan nori. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai organoleptik produk nori dengan penyalut 100% tapioka (F2) lebih disukai panelis dengan nilai rata-rata organoleptik warna 7,89%, tekstur 7,27%, ketampakan 8,42%, aroma 8,02%, rasa 7,84%, dan keseluruhan 7,89%. Variasi penyalut meningkatkan nilai sensori kerenyahan produk nori berbahan rumput laut lokal. Hasil analisis karakteristik kimia menunjukkan bahwa produk nori U. lactuca, Gracilaria sp., dan Eucheuma spinosum dengan variasi penyalut berbeda mempunyai nilai yang berbeda pula. Nori F2 memiliki kandungan protein 8,82%, lemak 20,16%, air 10,31%, abu 12,43%, dan karbohidrat 48,28%. Produk nori rumput laut U. lactuca, Gracilaria sp. dan Eucheuma spinosum dengan variasi penyalut layak untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut sebagai produk komersial dari rumput laut lokal.

Abstract

Muara sungai sebagai kawasan estuari memainkan peranan penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem pesisir, namun aktivitas antropogenik seperti pertanian, industri, dan pemukiman di sekitar Teluk Banten telah meningkatkan tekanan lingkungan yang menyebabkan pencemaran bahan organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsentrasi nitrat, fosfat, dan amonia sebagai indikator kualitas air di tiga muara sungai di pesisir Teluk Banten. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling, dan parameter fisik-kimia diuji menggunakan metode spektrofotometri serta instrumen laboratorium standar. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kandungan nitrat berada dalam kategori mesotrofik 2,71 mg/L, fosfat berada di atas baku mutu (>0,28 mg/L), dan amonia masih di bawah ambang batas (0,06-0,07 mg/L). Faktor lingkungan seperti suhu, pH, salinitas, oksigen terlarut, dan total padatan terlarut juga diamati untuk menentukan hubungan terhadap konsentrasi bahan organik. Hasil pengamatan   parameter fisik-kimia di tiga stasiun pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa suhu berada dalam kisaran normal yakni 28,83 °C, masih sesuai dengan baku mutu. Nilai pH relatif netral dengan rata-rata 7,65. Salinitas tercatat fluktuatif dengan rata-rata 25 ppt, di bawah baku mutu laut normal. Kandungan oksigen terlarut (DO) tergolong rendah yaitu 3,2 mg/L, berada di bawah ambang batas baku mutu (>5 mg/L), yang mengindikasikan kondisi perairan cenderung tercemar. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) menunjukkan rata-rata 35,7 ppm tanpa acuan baku mutu spesifik, namun masih berada dalam kisaran umum perairan pesisir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan indikasi eutrofikasi dan pencemaran sedang akibat tingginya masukan limbah domestik dan pertanian, yang dapat mengancam keberlangsungan biota perairan di sekitar Teluk Banten. River mouths, as estuarine areas, play an important role in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems, but anthropogenic activities such as agriculture, industry, and settlements around Banten Bay have increased environmental pressure, leading to organic material pollution. This study aims to analyze the concentration of nitrate, phosphate, and ammonia as indicators of water quality in three river estuaries along the coast of Banten Bay. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, and the physicochemical parameters were tested using spectrophotometry methods and standard laboratory instruments. The results show that the average nitrate content falls within the mesotrophic category 2.71 mg/L, phosphate levels are above the quality standard (>0.28 mg/L), and ammonia remains below the threshold (0.06-0.07 mg/L). Environmental factors such as temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and total dissolved solids were also observed to determine their relationship with organic material concentration. The results of the observation of physicochemical parameters at three observation stations show that the temperature is within the normal range, namely 28.83 °C, still in accordance with the quality standards. The pH value is relatively neutral with an average of 7.65. Salinity was recorded as fluctuating with an average of 25 ppt, below the normal marine water quality standards. The dissolved oxygen (DO) content is classified as low at 3.2 mg/L, below the standard quality threshold (>5 mg/L), indicating that the water conditions tend to be polluted. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) showed an average of 35.7 ppm without a specific quality standard reference, but still within the general range of coastal waters. The results of the study indicate eutrophication and moderate pollution due to high levels of domestic and agricultural waste, which could threaten the sustainability of aquatic biota around Banten Bay.

Abstract

Learning on the topic of Waste Management of Fishery Products in vocational high schools often faces challenges in enhancing students’ practical skills and active engagement. This study aims to develop and evaluate a project-based e-module as an interactive, practical, and contextual learning media. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The subjects of the study were teachers and lecturers who acted as validators. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and validation questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively for qualitative data and converted into percentage scores for quantitative data. The results indicate that the developed e-module is feasible for use, with an average eligibility score of 86.6%, and all aspects of media, content, and language fall into the “highly feasible” category. The e-module is equipped with instructional videos, game-based assessments, and project worksheets, and it is disseminated in HTML format and as a mobile application. In conclusion, the project-based e-module is effective as a teaching medium to support contextual and practical learning and can be integrated into vocational learning strategies to enhance students’ practical skills and engagement. Its implications suggest that this media can serve as a reference for teachers, media developers, and policymakers in designing digital project-based learning that aligns with industrial and workplace demands.

Abstract

This research intends to assess the productivity rate of the Purse Seine fishing method at the Coastal Fishing Port (PPP) Labuan in Pandeglang Regency and to develop sustainable management approaches. A quantitative descriptive approach was used to evaluate productivity through indicators like Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) and Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY). Data were obtained through observations in the field, interviews with fishermen, and recording of catches in February 2024 by the marine and fisheries office in Labuan. The results showed a decrease in CPUE from 219.11 kg/trip. The CPUE results show that Purse Seine productivity in Labuan can be said to be good, but if it continues to be left unchecked it will result in a significant decrease in certain species such as tuna and squid obtained from data released from the Labuan marine and fisheries office. Therefore, there must be steps to prevent fluctuations in the Labuan fishing sector by applying an ecosystem-based approach (EAFM) to maintain the sustainability of the marine ecosystem in the Sunda Strait.

Abstract

Fish is an important food for their essential nutrients and has numerous health benefits. However, fishery products are highly perishable and prone to rapid quality deterioration. Although the use of formalin as a food preservative is prohibited, it is still frequently detected in fishery products. This study aims to determine formalin levels and evaluate the organoleptic characteristics of various fresh fish species sold at traditional markets in Serang City. The study used observational methods with purposive sampling. Formalin content was analyzed qualitatively, while organoleptic characteristics were assessed using hedonic testing based on appearance, gills, mucus, flesh, odor, and texture. The results showed that 3 out of 10 fish species tested positive for formalin: Milkfish, Tilapia, and Flounder fish. For Tilapia, the average scores were 6.99 (positive) and 6.48 (negative). For Flounder fish, the scores were 6.69 (positive) and 7.05 (negative). According to the Indonesian National Standard, the average organoleptic scores of milkfish (both positive and negative) and negative formalin flounder fell into the “Fresh Fish” category. Overall, there was only a slight difference in organoleptic scores between fish containing formalin and those without, making them difficult to distinguish by sensory evaluation alone.Keywords: fishery product, flounder fish, organoleptic, perishable, qualitative

Abstract

Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan memiliki potensi kelautan dan perikanan yang besar, namun pendidikan kejuruan bidang perikanan masih menghadapi kesenjangan kompetensi lulusan dengan kebutuhan industri akibat minimnya media pembelajaran digital yang mengintegrasikan materi identifikasi cuaca laut, zona potensi penangkapan ikan, dan praktik perikanan ramah lingkungan secara terpadu. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang prototype website pembelajaran interaktif bernama MarineSmart untuk mendukung pembelajaran siswa SMK Perikanan. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui kajian sistematis terhadap artikel ilmiah dari Google Scholar dengan rentang tahun 2020-2025, dengan perancangan antarmuka menggunakan Figma serta pengembangan website berbasis HTML, CSS, dan JavaScript dengan bantuan Claude AI, kemudian dipublikasikan melalui Netlify. Hasil penelitian berupa prototype MarineSmart yang memuat enam fitur utama, yaitu fitur identifikasi cuaca laut dan peta zona tangkap ikan interaktif mengatasi keterbatasan akses informasi kondisi laut; modul praktik ramah lingkungan mengintegrasikan materi perikanan berkelanjutan; kuis dan evaluasi mendukung pengukuran capaian kompetensi secara mandiri; sistem gamifikasi dan poin mendorong motivasi belajar secara interaktif; serta aksesibilitas multi-device memastikan fleksibilitas penggunaan tanpa batasan perangkat. Seluruh fitur telah divisualisasikan dalam prototype website dengan rancangan navigasi antarhalaman yang mendukung alur penggunaan sistem. Meskipun masih bersifat konseptual dan belum divalidasi oleh ahli maupun pengguna akhir, MarineSmart menjadi landasan pengembangan media pembelajaran vokasi kelautan dan perikanan yang komprehensif dan adaptif.

Abstract

Tengkurak Village, Serang Regency, has promising potential for Gracilaria sp. seaweed, but its economic value remains limited because post-harvest handling is still traditional, raw material quality is inconsistent, and products are mostly sold as unprocessed material. This community service program aimed to improve the capacity of Tengkurak Berdikari farmer group through intensive preparation, Good Manufacturing Practices, and product diversification. The program used Participatory Rural Appraisal and action research through socialization, training, appropriate technology practice, pre-test, and post-test. The results showed that participants’ understanding increased from 6.25% to 80-90%. Washing, soaking, dewatering, hygienic drying, and milling produced cleaner, brighter, less fishy, and lower-moisture raw material with moisture content below 12%. This program demonstrates that simple technology managed through village institutions can improve quality, added value, and bargaining power for coastal communities.
