Abstract

Digital technology can help industries face competition, particularly play a vital role in improving SMEs' performance. This study aims to investigate the relationship between digital leadership and SMEs' performance by examining digital capabilities, with a focus on the crucial roles of digital and innovation capabilities as mediators and entrepreneur orientation as a moderator. A survey technique was employed to identify Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in East Java. A total of 205 responses were collected and designed using Likert scale and the data were analysed using PLS-SEM. The results indicate that digital leadership influences digital capability, which in turn influences SMEs performance. Additionally, innovation capability influences both digital leadership and SMEs performance. In addition, entrepreneur orientation cannot moderate the relationship between innovation capability and SMEs performance. However, entrepreneur orientation is able to mediate the relationship between digital capability and SMEs performance. This study considers among first studies addressing these critical relationships in this sector. Therefore, this study determines how leaders determine the ways to achieve improved SMEs performance. Ultimately, this study provides evidence of the importance of digital and innovation capabilities for competitiveness.

Abstract

World-Class University (WCU) is a goal for universities around the world, including those in Indonesia, to demonstrate excellence in various fields, resources, and faculty measured by all relevant criteria as well as academic excellence and quality, as evidenced by a range of achievements. Academic pressure is one of the challenges faced by faculty members in the context of achieving various academic goals, with a focus on the antecedents and consequences of this issue within the WCU. The purpose of this article is to identify and synthesize the antecedents and consequences of academic pressure on WCU faculty members using a narrative review approach. Data were obtained from the Scopus database using the keywords “international ranking,” “World Class University,” or “academic,” yielding a total of 376 articles, of which 141 were suitable for in-depth analysis start at 2005-2024. This study examined the antecedents of academic pressure, including external factors such as the Tri Dharma, scientific publications, administrative workload, and frequently changing policies, as well as internal factors such as self-efficacy, personal capacity, time management, and work-life balance and the ambivalent consequences that trigger stress, burnout, a decline in work-life balance, and a deterioration in academic quality; yet, on the other hand, they can also enhance faculty competence, strengthen research culture, and accelerate global competitiveness. This research provides a comprehensive conceptual framework grounded in empirical evidence to help policymakers and strategists design faculty management approaches that are more supportive and focused on long-term academic performance. The conclusion of this study is that the consequences of academic pressure on lecturers not only have a negative impact but can also be a trigger for lecturers to improve their performance. Based on the background, this study has a different focus from previous research, namely related to the antecedents and consequences of academic pressure on lecturers at world-class universities as a novelty.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) jointly shape Human Resource Development (HRD) in the digital era. Following PRISMA guidelines, we searched Scopus for peer-reviewed English-language journal articles and conference proceedings published between 2019 and January 2026 addressing AI, EI, and HRD/HRM. From 81 records, 14 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic synthesis. Five themes emerged: (1) AI-driven HRD decision-making, (2) EI as a critical digital-era competency, (3) human–AI collaboration mechanisms, (4) ethical challenges including algorithmic bias and workplace dehumanization, and (5) emerging theoretical frameworks. Unlike prior studies that frame AI as substitutive, our findings advance a human–AI collaboration perspective, demonstrating that AI and EI operate as complementary capabilities. AI strengthens efficiency, scalability, and predictive accuracy, while EI provides contextual judgment, ethical oversight, empathy, and trust-building. In AI-driven recruitment, managerial EI is crucial for identifying and correcting algorithmic bias and for ensuring fair, transparent decision-making. Drawing on Socio-Technical Systems Theory, we argue that digital transformation requires joint optimization of technological systems (AI) and social capabilities (EI). We propose the AI–EI Synergy Framework (AIEIS-HRD), outlining four integration mechanisms: complementarity, augmentation, moderation, and mediation. Sustainable HRD transformation depends on balancing technological advancement with emotionally intelligent governance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of social capital as a catalyst in the development of Punten Village as an agrotourism village in Batu City, East Java. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with the community and stakeholders, and a review of regional development policy and planning documents. The results show that the social capital of the Punten Village community, reflected in the values of trust, solidarity, social networks, and the culture of mutual cooperation, plays a significant role in strengthening community participation, increasing human resource capacity, and encouraging multi-stakeholder collaboration in agrotourism management. Social capital also functions as a social glue that maintains program sustainability and minimizes conflicts of interest in the development process. The conclusion of this study confirms that the development of agrotourism villages is not only determined by the availability of natural resources, but is highly dependent on the strength of social capital as the main foundation for empowerment and sustainable village development. Keywords: Agrotourism, Community Development, Empowerment, Social Capital.

Abstract

Rapid technological change, organizational transformation, and labor market uncertainty have increased the importance of career adaptability for students and emerging professionals preparing to enter dynamic work environments. This study aims to identify, evaluate, and synthesize empirical evidence on psychological, learning-related, and behavioral factors associated with career adaptability. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 framework. Sixteen peer-reviewed empirical studies published between 2022 and 2026 were selected based on predetermined eligibility criteria and analyzed through narrative synthesis across three domains: psychological factors, learning-related factors, and behavioral factors. The findings indicate that psychological resources are the most consistently examined determinants of career adaptability, particularly psychological capital, self-efficacy, resilience, mindfulness, basic psychological needs, and career decision-making self-efficacy. Career decision-making self-efficacy frequently functions as a mediating mechanism linking individual or contextual resources to adaptive career outcomes. Learning agility, career exploration, career coping, and readiness for change also contribute to adaptive development, although direct empirical evidence remains comparatively limited. The review concludes that career adaptability is shaped by interconnected psychological, learning-related, and behavioral resources. Future research should examine these factors simultaneously within integrated empirical models to strengthen career development interventions for individuals transitioning into changing professional environments characterized by increasingly complex and competitive labor markets.
