Abstract

This study investigates the effects of family environment, knowledge of the world of work, and work motivation on the mental work readiness of vocational high school students in East Lombok. Employing an ex post facto design, the study targeted all grade XI vocational schools in the region offer engineering programs that encompass TKR, Ototronik, TSM, and Heavy Equipment. A total of 196 students were selected through proportional random sampling to ensure representative distribution across schools. Data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple regression, and multiple regression in SPSS. The findings reveal: (1) a significant effect of family environment on work readiness (r = 0.618, R² = 0.382, p < 0.001); (2) a significant effect of knowledge of the world of work on work readiness (r = 0.782, R² = 0.611, p < 0.001); (3) a significant effect of work motivation on work readiness (r = 0.694, R² = 0.481, p < 0.001); and (4) a combined influence of family environment, knowledge of the world of work, and work motivation on work readiness (R = 0.832, R² = 0.693, p < 0.001). These results underscore the critical role of both internal and contextual factors in shaping students’ preparedness for the workforce.

Abstract

Abstract The research aimed to determine the results of the Kulon Progo Regency UPT BLK training and the participants' motives for participating in automotive vocational training. Training improves the quality of human resources so that people can have abilities and skills. This research is quantitative and descriptive. The research subjects were alumni of automotive vocational training participants at UPT BLK Kulon Progo Regency, totaling 22 people in the TKR training and 10 in the TSM training. The data collection method uses documentation of training results, closed questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews, which expert judgment, namely automotive lecturers, has validated. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The training results showed that 100% of participants passed the training, and 88% passed the competency test. This shows that the training is going well, and training obstacles can be overcome well, and is supported by the level of satisfaction of the training participants, which is in the satisfied and very satisfied categories. However, alumni distribution needs to be improved, especially in providing information on job opportunities and handling participants' interest in working outside the region. The results of participants' motives for participating in training can be ranked as follows: 1) knowledge motive, 2) facility motive, 3) work preparation motive, 4) portfolio motive, and 5) motive to fill free time. Abstract

Abstract Item analysis is a process used to evaluate the quality of each test item to ensure that the questions effectively measure participants’ abilities. Based on observations at PT SGMW Motor Indonesia, item analysis for the Level 0 – Apprentice Technician Certification in 2023 had not been implemented, as indicated by the lack of attention to the difficulty level of the test items. This study employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, involving certification participants as the research subjects and the Level 0 – Apprentice certification test items as the objects. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using Microsoft Excel to assess validity, reliability, item difficulty, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. The results show that out of 250 items analyzed, 34% (84 items) were rejected, 32% (80 items) required revision, and 34% (86 items) were accepted. These findings highlight the importance of conducting systematic item analysis to ensure the availability of a standardized, valid, and reliable item bank. Implementing such procedures can support more accurate and objective assessment processes in technician certification, ultimately improving the quality of competency measurement.

Abstract

The implementation of deep learning in Indonesian junior high schools remains challenging due to teachers’ limited understanding and practical readiness. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ knowledge of deep learning principles within the Merdeka Curriculum and to support them in developing deep learning-based teaching materials. The program involved training and mentoring 46 teachers from two public junior high schools in Yogyakarta using workshops, guided practice, and follow-up support. Data were collected through a knowledge quiz, a participant satisfaction questionnaire, and document analysis of the developed learning modules. The results show that teachers achieved a good level of understanding of deep learning concepts (mean score = 8.1), expressed high satisfaction with the program, and successfully produced learning modules that reflected key characteristics of deep learning and were ready for classroom use. These findings indicate that structured professional development can effectively support teachers in implementing deep learning within the Merdeka Curriculum and may serve as a practical model for similar school-based training programs.
