Abstract

This study aims to: (1) develop a learning media for practicing Distributorless Ignition (DLI) system for automotive engineering students and (2) identify the feasibility of the learning media for practical purpose in the classroom activities. The procedures of this research and development (RnD) study refers to the steps of product development by Borg and Gall (2007). A questionnaire was utilized to measure the learning media feasibility. Furthermore, there were media experts, content experts, and students as the user participated to evaluate and give feedback for the learning media improvement during the product development. The results reveal that (1) the distributorless ignition system learning media displays a systematic arrangement of the DLI components on acrylic boards accompanied by symbols of electrical components and (2) the product developed was suitable to facilitate students’ learning activity.  The content and media experts scored the learning media as very feasible (7.59 & 7.06), the average score of the response of small class users was 6.14 (feasible), and the scores of large class respondents were 6.80 (very decent). It can be concluded that the DLI learning media can be used to support the instructional activity for ignition system.

Abstract

Instructional media is an important component in online learning. This study aims to: 1) find out what types of learning media that motivate students to learn; 2) knowing the benefits of various types of learning media used by students on online learning. This study used ex post facto method. The questionnaire was used to gain the data from bachelor student. The instrument explores information about various forms of online learning media, namely text, audio, graphic, animation, and video. The terms of the benefits of media including able to stimulate students' curiosity, motivate student, make easier for students understanding, encourage students learning happily, and giving student’s flexibility in choosing learning resources. The results showed that: The better online learning media for motivating student were animation and video with a very high category of motivation achievement. While other types of learning media are in the high category. Judging from the benefits of various types of media, video and animation media are the most useful for students in online learning. The media got very high category on stimulating students' curiosity, motivating student`s learning, making it easier for students to understand, encouraging students learning happily, as well as giving students flexibility in choosing learning resources. Meanwhile, other types of learning media are in the high category. Even on text media, getting a low category on encouraging students learning happily. Therefore, teachers not only use PowerPoint media, but also need to consider other types of learning media for teaching students in online learning.

Abstract

This paper discusses the development of simulators as instructional media for learning Electronic Spark Advance System in vehicle technology and its advisability. Simulators were developed to assist students in learning the skills and practical knowledge of the electronic ignition system in vehicle engine. The simulator was developed by applying 10 development stages. Development stages included: analyzing the problems, needs analysis, product design, design implementation, expert assessment, limited testing (small classes), product revisions, large usage / class testing, product revisions, and get suitable product. The development result was a replica of ESA system separated from vehicle system. The ignition system components were arranged on the acrylic board, so it can be used by the students safely and easily for: (1) identifying components, (2) inspect components, (3) inspect ignition circuit, (4) conducting ignition system adjusting, and (5)simulating ignition system.  Based on the material and learning media aspects with the results of limited trials as well as usage trials show that the developed ESA's electronic ignition system simulator was suitable to use, so it can help students to learn and practice skills related to maintenance jobs and repair ESA's electronic ignition system more easily.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui kompetensi mahasiswa dalam mencari sumber belajar; 2) mengidentifikasi jenis sumber belajar yang dicari dan digunakan mahasiswa; 3) mengetahui jenis sumber belajar paling diminati dan digunakan mahasiswa; 4) mengetahui kaitan antara sumber belajar yang digunakan dengan prestasi belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 143 mahasiswa diambil secara simple random sampling dari 376 populasi mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif yang terdaftar pada tahun perkuliahan 2014/2015. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket/kuesioner, dokumentasi hasil studi mahasiswa, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis Chi-Kuadrat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Kompetensi mahasiswa dalam mencari sumber belajar dalam kondisi yang cukup. Namun aspek kepemilikan sumber belajar dalam kondisi rendah; 2) Jenis sumber belajar yang dicari dan digunakan mahasiswa dalam bentuk: bahan (89,5 3), pesan (84,35), peralatan (77,00), lingkungan (75,47), orang (73,56), dan pendekatan (69,48); 3) Jenis sumber belajar paling diminati berbentuk bahan; 4) Terdapat kaitan antara sumber belajar yang digunakan dengan prestasi belajar mahasiswa. Abstract

Diberlakukannya Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN menuntut kesiapan dan pengakuan kompetensi tenaga kerja untuk menghadapi persaingan bebas. Di Indonesia, pemerintah menargetkan peningkatan jumlah penyelenggaraan SMK untuk menyiapkan lulusan yang siap kerja. Namun faktanya pengangguran lulusan SMK masih tinggi, meskipun banyak sekolah telah melakukan uji kompetensi serta program sertifikasi bagi lulusannya. Untuk melihat uji kompetensi di SMK, perlu diketahui materi uji, asesor, hasil uji, serta sertifikasinya. Penelitian survei dilakukan pada SMK Negeri Paket Keahlian Teknik Kendaraan Ringan (TKR) di DIY. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Materi uji kompetensi TKR memiliki 2 model. Model 1 menggunakan 4 soal uji, sedangkan model 2 menggunakan 8 soal, (2) Asesor terdiri dari pihak internal guru produktif dan penguji eksternal dari industri jasa servis kendaraan dan balai latihan kerja. Hasil Uji dilihat dari nilainya sangat baik, namun belum mencerminkan kompetensi sebenarnya. Siswa yang lulus uji mendapatkan sertifikat dari SMK bekerjasama dengan mitranya, yaitu bengkel servis kendaraan, MPKD, dan BLK.Kata kunci: Uji kompetensi, Sertifikasi

Abstract

Nowadays, vocational education program, SMK need to be encouraged to higher quality in order to fulfill competitive working area. Limitations of teachers competences should be minimized by teachers competences development programs. This lecturer dedication program aims to: (1) Increase teachers competence in maintaining, repairing and overhauling automatic transmissions using planetary gear unit realia media. (2) produce teaching handbooks document about automatic transmission material developed by teachers for teaching in TKRO Vocational Schools. The audiences of this program are 35 Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering Study Program teachers in the Yogyakarta City and Bantul Regency areas. The program was carried out using the theoretical training method and continued with the practical training in the maintenance and repair of the automatic transmission system. This training is based on the competencies needed in maintenance work and repair of automatic transmission of vehicles. Based on the program results, it can be concluded that (1) the competence of teachers in maintaining and repairing automatic transmission through this training can be increased. It can be seen from the average pretest and posttest of the trainees significantly increased. (2) Automatic transmission training supports teachers to be able to develop automatic transmission practice learning documents in accordance with the basic competencies of SMK.

Abstract

Pembelajaran praktikum di SMK membutuhkan media pembelajaran yang mampu mendukung tingkat penguasaan kompetensi siswa sesuai kebutuhan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui hasil pengembangan simulator power window; (2) mengetahui respon guru SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates terhadap produk simulator power window yang dikembangkan. Sasaran program pengabdian ini adalah guru-guru produktif dengan kompetensi keahlian Teknik Kendaraan Ringan Otomotif (TKRO) dan Teknik Sepeda Motor dan Bisnis (TSMB) di SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates. Pengabdian dilaksanakan menggunakan metode pengembangan produk berupa simulator power window disertai dengan pelatihan penggunaan simulator. Berdasarkan program pengabdian yang telah dilaksanakan pada hari Kamis, 22 September 2022 dengan target sasaran adalah seluruh guru TKRO dan TSMB SMK Ma’arif 1 Wates, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Simulator power window adalah simulator yang berisi komponen power window mobil dan dapat dirakit dan disimulasikan; (2) Respon yang diberikan guru SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates baik sehingga simulator dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran praktik pemeliharaan kelistrikan kendaraan ringan; dan (3) Pelatihan penggunaan simulator power window yang dilaksanakan di SMK Ma’arif 1 Wates berjalan dengan baik dan lancar.Practicum learning in Vocational Schools requires learning media to support mastery of student competencies according to needs. This service activity aims to: (1) Know the results of developing a power window simulator; (2) know the response of teachers at SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates to the power window simulator product being developed. The target of this service program is productive teachers with competency skills in Light Automotive Engineering (TKRO) and Motorcycle and Business Engineering (TSMB) at SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates. The service is carried out using a product development method in the form of a power window simulator accompanied by training on using a simulator. Based on the service program that was carried out on Thursday, September 22, 2022 with the target targets being all TKRO and TSMB teachers at SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates, it can be concluded that: (1) The power window simulator is a simulator that contains car power window components and can be assembled and simulated; (2) The response given by the teacher at Ma'arif 1 Wates Vocational High School was good so that the simulator could be used in learning light vehicle electrical maintenance practices; and (3) The training on using the power window simulator which was held at SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates went well and smoothly.

Abstract

Keselamatan dan Kesehatan kerja merupakan hal mendasar dalam bekerja. Oleh sebab itu, lembaga pendidikan vokasional harus senantiasa mengupayakan pengembangan budaya K3 secara kontinyu dan berkelanjutan. Salah satu upaya yang sering dilakukan adalah mendukung melalui administrasi berupa poster K3. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui persepsi guru SMK terhadap upaya penanaman budaya K3 melalui poster, 2) mengetahui faktor budaya K3 yang paling didukung melalui penggunaan poster K3 di SMK. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian cross sectional survey terhadap guru di SMK Ma`arif 1 Wates, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen angket dan selanjutnya dilakukan analisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa menurut guru, poster K3 dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mendukung budaya K3. Masing-masing faktor mendapatkan kategori sangat mendukung. Faktor tertinggi yang didukung oleh penggunaan poster adalah memberikan pengetahuan tentang K3. Sedangkan faktor terendah berada pada dukungan untuk membantu pengontrolan bahaya. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa penggunaan poster K3 dapat mendukung budaya K3 untuk pendidikan vokasional. Oleh sebab itu, pemasangan poster keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja perlu digencarkan di lingkungan pendidikan SMK seperti laboratorium dan bengkel.

Abstract

Innovative learning models like Project-based learning are believed to encourage not only the achievement of student learning outcomes but also 21st-century skills. Many studies on Project-based learning are related to developing 21st-century skills, one of which is critical thinking, with different results. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study that can elaborate on various studies on the effectiveness of Project-based learning on students' thinking skills. This study aims to determine the difference in critical thinking skills between students participating in project-based learning and other models. This study uses a quantitative approach with meta-analysis. The data is secondary data from studies published in journal articles indexed by Scopus and Google Scholar in the last ten years with a total of 29 studies that are suitable for analysis. The estimated aggregate is the difference between groups. Data analysis used Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Vers.3 to calculate and estimate aggregates, draw forest plots, test hypotheses, and analyze biases. The analysis results show that Project-based learning promotes students' critical thinking skills, although moderated by education level and comparative learning strategies. Project-based learning is superior to traditional learning at various levels of education.  Project-based learning and other scientific learning are known to support students' critical thinking skills. Teachers can also make PjBL more innovative by utilizing information technology, and the contextual environment, as well as integrating various media, content, and other learning strategies to encourage student critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Current learning media devices require an update by integrating information technology to support learning needs in the digital era 4.0. However, not all teachers can do it; soft and hard skills adapted to their field are needed. Based on this, researchers collaborated with automotive engineering and education science to analyze the need to develop learning media in elementary schools. The collaborative research employed qualitative methodology, incorporating interviews, analysis of documents, and open-ended questionnaires for data gathering. The analysis technique used is the Miles & Huberman, which consists of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the development of technology-based media in simulators that can stimulate students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities in the classroom is needed. Furthermore, teachers can collaboratively conduct various activities, such as assembling, problem-solving, and creating something new through the media. The urgency of developing instructional media in elementary school for Science refers to the topics for which learning materials in Science kits are already available. However, underutilized use will not further stimulate students' creativity. Some important topics for media development include 1) changes in the state of matter, 2) energy and its changes, 3) the properties of conductors and insulators, and 4) electricity and magnet.
