Abstract

Abstrak. Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan media teknologi menjadi sebuah tuntutan dalam perubahan moda pembelajaran berbasis online. Penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo menjadi salah satu alternatif yang bisa digunakan dalam pembelajaran menyimak bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan aplikasi Duolingo sebagai media pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini didapat dari pengamatan proses pembelajaran dan hasil wawancara siswa. Penelitian ini mengambil data dari pembelajaran kelas XI IPS 2 SMAN 1 Jatitujuh. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan siswa terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pembelajaran melalui aplikasi Duolingo dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif bagi guru untuk meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa sekaligus menambah kosakata serta melatih keterampilan menyimak siswa dalam berbahasa Inggris. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Duolingo dapat menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Abstract. Learning English using technology media is a demand in changing online-based learning modes. The use of the Duolingo application is an alternative that can be used in learning to listen to English. This research was conducted with the aim of describing the learning process using the Duolingo application as a learning medium. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study were obtained from observations of the learning process and the results of student interviews. This study took data from class XI IPS 2 at SMAN 1 Jatitujuh. Data were obtained through observation and interviews with students on the learning activities carried out. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the learning process through the Duolingo application can be used as an alternative for teachers to increase students' learning independence while increasing vocabulary and training students' listening skills in English. This shows that the use of Duolingo can be an alternative medium for learning English.

Abstract

This study intends to describe the project-based learning model implementation for learning to write English using the HelloTalk application and to ascertain how students react to the project-based learning model implementation using the HelloTalk application. The technique employed is a qualitative descriptive method, and it entails the process of gathering primary data through document review, field data collection, and the outcomes of student response surveys. 93 students from AKPER YPIB Majalengka's second semester served as the study's subjects. The examination of the data revealed that the student had a very high level of enthusiasm in putting the project-based learning strategy for learning to write in English using the HelloTalk program into practice. The study's findings indicate that the project-based learning model using the HelloTalk application was successfully implemented in teaching students to write in English and received a favorable response from the students. It also indicates that using the project-based learning model with the HelloTalk application can improve students' writing abilities in English. The HelloTalk program for learning to write in English met very high standards.

Abstract

Era Society 5.0 adalah proses kolaboratif di mana teknologi berfungsi sebagai fondasi dan umat manusia sebagai titik fokusnya (human-centric) (berbasis teknologi). Pendidikan era 5.0 merupakan proses pendidikan yang menekankan pada pengembangan manusia sebagai makhluk yang bermoral, berilmu, dan beretika pada masa kini dan didukung oleh kemajuan teknologi saat ini. Dalam rangka meningkatkan peran tenaga pendidik dalam proses dan hasil belajar siswa diharapkan tenaga pendidik mampu menciptakan lingkungan belajar dan pengelolaan kelas yang efektif. Tenaga Pendidik adalah pendidik profesional yang berdedikasi untuk mengembangkan peserta didik dari Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini hingga pendidikan formal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) dilaksanakan dengan tujuan 1) memberikan penyuluhan kepada tenaga pendidik tentang mutu pendidikan; 2) penguatan kompetensi tenaga pendidik dalam proses pembelajaran.  Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan PkM yaitu penyuluhan yang didalamnya terdapat pemberian materi tentang kompetensi tenaga pendidik. Respon terhadap kegiatan PkM ini sangatlah baik dari peserta maupun mitra sekolah dimana peserta sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan ini.  Mitra sekolah meminta untuk dilaksanakan kegiatan lanjutan untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan siswa dan tenaga pendidik dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Kompetensi guru dalam penyusunan assessment sumatif sangat penting, karena hal ini akan mempengaruhi kualitas pembelajaran matematika dan hasil belajar siswa. Assessment sumatif berbasis masalah open ended dapat menjadi alternatif yang lebih baik daripada assessment sumatif berbasis pilihan ganda. Seiiring dengan semangat kurikulum merdeka yang mengedepankan penilaian pada kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika dan mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif. Namun, fakta yang tim temukan pada guru mitra di KKM MTsN 3 Majalengka masih banyak guru yang memerlukan peningkatan kompetensi dalam menyusun assessment sumatif berbasis masalah open ended, baik dari segi pengembangan soal maupun penilaian. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dengan kegiatan pelatihan bagi guru Matematika. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan soal assessment sumatif berbasis masalah open ended dan merancang rubrik penilaian yang sesuai. Adapun capaian dari kegitan pelatihan: 1) meningkatkan pemahaman guru agar lebih baik dalam melakukan assessment sumatif berbasis masalah open ended; 2) guru dapat membuat soal yang berkualitas yang dapat mengukur kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika dan mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif; 3) meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika siswa di KKM MTsN 3 Majalengka; 4) kesiapan guru matematika di KKM MTsN 3 Majalengka dalam mengimplementasikan kurikulum merdeka dan meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif dan kreatif.

Abstract

Digital literacy competence played an essential role in the growth of university students to achieve their goals of learning. This study was carried out to define the students’ perception of the use of digital literacy in learning English Specific Purposes. The participant consists of the students of the AKPER YPIB Majalengka. 60 students were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The students had a distinctive response regarding the use of digital literacy competence and how they perceive it. This study was a qualitative case study. The data was gathered through open-ended questionnaires and classroom observation. The findings showed that the students had a positive voice regarding the use of digital literacy competence in learning English, they perceived that digital literacy needs willingness and critical thinking skills. Moreover, students’ willingness played a role to find students’ strengths and weaknesses, and students critical thinking skills played an essential to analyze the information and developing their competencies to achieve the learning goals.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of YouTube-based learning videos on improving students' English writing skills. The background of this research is based on the importance of utilizing interactive digital media that is in accordance with the characteristics of the digital generation, especially in learning writing skills that require creativity and understanding of language structures. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pre-test–post-test control group design. The research subjects consisted of two classes IX MTsN 3 Majalengka which were divided into an experimental group and a control group consisting of 36 students each. The experimental group was given the treatment of learning to write English using a pedagogically selected YouTube video, while the control group used conventional methods. Data were collected through written tests (pre-test and post-test) and analyzed using a t-test statistical test to see the difference in scores before and after treatment. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in students' writing skills in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings show that YouTube-based learning videos are effective in improving students' English writing skills. Therefore, YouTube media is recommended as one of the innovative and relevant alternative learning resources for learning English in schools.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan video pembelajaran berbasis YouTube terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menulis Bahasa Inggris siswa. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya pemanfaatan media digital interaktif yang sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi digital, khususnya dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis yang menuntut kreativitas dan pemahaman struktur Bahasa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pre-test–post-test control group. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas IX MTsN 3 Majalengka yang dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol masing-masing terdiri dari 36 siswa. Kelompok eksperimen diberi perlakuan berupa pembelajaran menulis Bahasa Inggris menggunakan video YouTube yang dipilih secara pedagogis, sedangkan kelompok kontrol menggunakan metode konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes menulis (pre-test dan post-test) dan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik t-test untuk melihat perbedaan skor sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada keterampilan menulis siswa di kelompok eksperimen dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa video pembelajaran berbasis YouTube efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis Bahasa Inggris siswa. Oleh karena itu, media YouTube direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu alternatif sumber belajar yang inovatif dan relevan untuk pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah.

Abstract

In today’s globalized healthcare environment, English proficiency is essential for nursing professionals to access international resources, communicate across cultures, and deliver high-quality care. This study investigates nursing students’ perceptions of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) as a strategy to enhance English language skills within clinical and academic contexts. A descriptive quantitative study was conducted at the Nursing Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan Cirebon, involving 56 students enrolled in an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course. Data were gathered through a Likert-scale questionnaire focusing on aspects such as motivation, inquiry, planning, and relevance to clinical practice. The findings indicate that students perceive PjBL as highly effective in connecting classroom English learning to real-world nursing tasks. Reported benefits include increased motivation, improved critical thinking, enhanced self-directed learning, and stronger professional communication. Students also expressed high engagement and satisfaction due to the authenticity and relevance of the tasks. The study concludes that integrating PjBL into ESP instruction for nursing students can significantly improve both language proficiency and clinical readiness. These results highlight the pedagogical value of PjBL in nursing education and suggest further research to examine its long-term effects on language retention and professional performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the English language needs of nursing students during their clinical practice in hospitals. English proficiency, particularly in medical and professional contexts, plays a crucial role for nursing students in facing global communication challenges and understanding international nursing literature. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, using questionnaires, interviews, and observations involving final-year nursing students undergoing clinical practice. The findings indicate that the most essential language skills in clinical settings are speaking and listening, especially for communicating with foreign patients, explaining nursing procedures, and understanding doctors' instructions. Additionally, the study reveals that the English materials taught in class are not fully aligned with real-world needs, particularly in medical terminology and clinical communication. The study recommends that the ESP curriculum for nursing programs be revised to better reflect the authentic language demands faced by students in clinical environments, thus making English learning more contextual and applicable.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan Bahasa Inggris yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa keperawatan dalam konteks praktik klinis di rumah sakit. Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris, khususnya dalam konteks profesional medis, menjadi aspek penting bagi mahasiswa keperawatan dalam menghadapi tantangan komunikasi global dan memahami literatur keperawatan internasional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner, wawancara, dan observasi terhadap mahasiswa keperawatan Universitas Sindang Kasih Majalengka tingkat akhir yang sedang menjalani praktik klinis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berbahasa yang paling dibutuhkan di lapangan adalah berbicara dan mendengarkan, khususnya untuk komunikasi dengan pasien asing, menjelaskan prosedur keperawatan, serta memahami instruksi dokter. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa materi Bahasa Inggris yang diajarkan di kelas belum sepenuhnya relevan dengan kebutuhan di lapangan, terutama dalam hal penggunaan istilah medis dan komunikasi klinis. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar kurikulum ESP di program studi keperawatan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan autentik mahasiswa selama praktik klinis, agar pembelajaran lebih kontekstual dan aplikatif.

Abstract

Digital technology has significantly transformed the world of education. This includes English language learning, which still faces challenges due to student unmotivation and disengagement. The direct reading method has been proven effective in improving intensive and extensive reading skills, but if not combined with creative strategies, this method is often perceived as monotonous. Therefore, digital technology helps increase student motivation and engagement in reading and learning. This study employed a quasi-experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. Students selected through purposive sampling were 11th-grade students from a high school in Majalengka. Two classes served as samples. The experimental class, consisting of more than 35 students, used the digitally assisted direct reading method, while the control class used conventional methods. Research tools included reading comprehension tests, motivation questionnaires, observations, and semi-structured interviews. T-tests and effect sizes were used to analyze qualitative data; source triangulation was used for quantitative data. The results showed that the experimental group had significantly improved compared to the control group. The average reading comprehension score in the experimental group increased from 65.2 to 81.7, while in the control group, it increased from 64.8 to 72.4 (p = 0.001; d = 0.85). Student motivation in the experimental group increased from 3.21 to 4.12, while in the control group it only increased from 3.18 to 3.54. In the experimental group, student engagement in behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects increased significantly. Therefore, this study concludes that incorporating digital technology into the direct reading method is proven effective in improving student comprehension, increasing motivation, and engagement. Moreover, this is an appropriate approach to meet the learning needs of the modern generation.
