Abstract

Training and development practices are influenced by organizational direction and environmental dynamism. The organisational bottom line has been the main driver shaping these practices. For Islamic universities, they are influenced by the Tawhidic paradigm. This research aims to explore the influence of the Tawhidic paradigm on Islamic universities’ training and development practices. The study employed qualitative research through personal interviews with staff members of Islamic universities. The Tawhidic paradigm influences training and development at Islamic universities based on the principles of ukhuwwah (brotherhood), ‘adl (justice), and ihsan (benevolence). These principles led to a supportive and cooperative work environment, encourage fair treatment and justice, and inspire individuals to go beyond their basic duties with compassion and benevolence. Furthermore, training and development also align with the Madani Malaysia principles of keMampanan (sustainability), kesejAhteraan (prosperity), Daya cipta (innovation), hormAt (respect), keyakiNan (trust), and Ihsan (compassion). The theoretical contribution enhances understanding of how the Tawhidic paradigm impacts training and development practices, emphasizing ukhuwwah, ‘adl, and ihsan with Madani Malaysia principles in ethical work environments. For policy implications, there is a need for policies that integrate the Tawhidic paradigm into staff training and development, ensuring ongoing training and adaptability. In terms of practical implications, this research guides practitioners in incorporating Tawhidic principles into training, fostering collaboration, fairness, and compassion, and aligning with Madani Malaysia values.

Abstract

This study examines the impacts of Indonesia's country risks (i.e. financial risk, political risk, and economic risk), exchange rate, oil prices, and industrial production index on the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). This research use monthly data from January 2003 to March 2016 with a quantitative research approach that applies Johansen Cointegration Test and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to see the long-term impact and response of shocks on certain variables. The findings show the existence of short-term and long-term causalities between macroeconomic variables and the Jakarta Islamic index. Specifically, in the long run, financial risk, oil prices, and exchange rates have a significant positive effect on Jakarta Islamic Index, while economic risks and industrial production index have a significant negative on Jakarta Islamic Index. This finding shows that investors consider financial risks, economic risks, and exchange rates in investments. This finding also tells the government that several important macroeconomic indicators need to be considered. Keywords: Country Risk, Macroeconomic, Jakarta Islamic Index, Vector Error Correction Model, Indonesia

Design/Methode/Approach: The research used quantitative descriptive methods. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 172 sample of 3rd year student at a vocational school in Ponorogo. Research Finding: The findings gleaned from the study reveal a noteworthy correlation, indicating that not only do burnout and soft skills play integral roles in shaping the academic landscape, but they also exert a positive influence on students’ overall performance. This suggests that managing burnout and cultivating essential soft skills contribute synergistically to an enhanced educational experience, fostering an environment conducive to academic success. Theoretical contribution/Originality: The novelty of this study lies in its dual focus on the interplay between burnout, soft skills, and academic performance within the context of vocational education. By focusing on such a context, this research contributes a unique perspective to the existing body of literature. Practitioner/Policy implication: This research holds significant implications for vocational schools. Vocational schools can leverage this research to strategically prioritize the enhancement of specific soft skills that directly support students’ performance. Research limitation: The main limitation of this study was the data was only carried out at certain times and classes, so it was not comprehensive for all students who were facing some free activities. Therefore, the burnout and lack of soft kill can only be hypothesized but cannot be objectively proven. Thorough research is needed on all students to be able to answer the questions objectively.
