Abstract

Kita sadari atau tidak, fakta kehidupan dalam masyarakat kita terdapat akar sejarah yang panjang mengenai dominasi laki-laki atas perempuan, di mana dalam sebagian besar sektor yang dibangun adalah berlandaskan pada tatanan yang timpang juga, yaitu tatanan nilai yang menjadikan laki-laki ditempatkan sebagai pihak superior (kuat) dan sebaliknya perempuan harus menerima kenyataan menjadi pihak yang inf­erior (lemah). Tatanan ini terbentuk dengan proses panjang dalam lingkungan sosial budaya di sekitar kita sendiri. Laki-laki dan perempuan seringnya dibedakan karena faktor biologis (jenis kelamin) yang dimiliki, dan perbedaan inilah yang kemudian ditradisikan menjadi ajang untuk menjadikan perempuan menjadi sosok yang lemah, kalah, dan belakang. Parahnya kemudian, pemahaman inilah yang selama ini dianggap sebagai gender, padahal gender adalah bukan perbedaan peran laki-laki dan perempuan yang didasarkan pada faktor biologis (apalagi karena faktor beda jenis kelamin) akan tetapi didasarkan pada hasil konstruk sosial dan bukan ciptaan Tuhan. Artinya telah sekian lama terjadi bias atau bahkan kesalahan) dalam memahami gender karena perbedaan secara biologis itu bersifat kodrati, dimana laki-laki mempunyai penis dan perempuan mempunyai vagina, dan lain sebagainya

Abstract

Numerous higher education institutions prepare students English skills for life and jobs in a globalized world in light of current developments in international education. For many universities, they entails expanding educational exchange opportunities for domestic and international students, internationalizing the curriculum and campus, and helping students achieve intercultural competency. This research explored the concept of intercultural communicative competence in the teaching of the English language. It articulated the Byram's framework. This research was a literature study with descriptive qualitative research and the latest literature review to illustrate the importance of integrating intercultural communicative competence (ICC) to the instructor in English learning and teaching. Some collection and review of references through scientific literature sources related to ICC and the integration in English language teaching keywords were addressed. As for the author's reference sources, they were determined from 2015 to 2023. The results of the study showed that the promoting and conceptualizing ICC in English classroom practice to the teacher has an important role in helping students achieve and develop learning activities that can be practiced directly by students in everyday life. Moreover, it was also mentioned that integrating the framework of the proposed concept into English Language Teaching (ELT) could help students develop their linguistic, intercultural competence, and sociocultural skills to communicating in proper English in appropriate real-life situations, and raised the teachers' awareness.

Abstract

English language skills are currently considered important as one of the fundamental requirements for continuing an educational career or work. This community service research aims to improve English skills for the younger generation through the Alam Daur Community, a community engaged in literacy in the Central Lombok area. The English Intensive program is implemented online using the Zoom application. The method used was the cooperative learning method, participants were involved in webinar sessions, discussions, conversation simulations, and exercises that were relevant to daily activities and the needs of students. The results of the study showed that the intensive English program carried out for one full month through the zoom platform effectively stimulated children's skills. This could be seen from the post-test results which showed an increase in scores. In addition, other results proved that there was a strong relationship between tutors and participants and a fast exchange of information. Student involvement and motivation as well as increasing teacher capacity were also discussed. In line with Rena Pasick, Wilma Brakefield-Caldwell of Detroit, Michigan, and Edith Parker, this study recommends strong and ongoing collaboration, so that existing changes can be evaluated and treatments can be continuously developed for the institutions and communities involved.

Abstract

The development of reading comprehension is an important skill that helps students with a variety of academic assignments. It facilitates their ability to comprehend textual information and to analyze, clarify, and articulate their own opinions about them. Consequently, students are required to strengthen their comprehension of textual content through the academic assignments that their teachers provide. One of reading comprehension's main goals is to help students become better readers by helping them understand texts properly. This research aim was to analyze the role of rainbow card strategy in efl learning context by emphasizing reading ability. The method of this study was mixed method with a classroom action research design adopted from Kemmis & M. Taggard. The participant of this research was student’s eighth grade students consist of 30 students. The data collection was in form of observation, written test, and interview for both students and a teacher. The findings of this study indicated that appropriate reading strategies such as rainbow card technique play an important role in enhancing the reading comprehension abilities of EFL students.. A further result was also described in cycle two and three in which significantly improved students’ comprehension. Nonetheless, in the first of cycle, the statistical data indicated low improvement due to the limited time and new approach. At the same time, a new innovation and approach in pedagogy was needed in order to improve the learning and teaching outcomes. Finally, the research emphasized the significance of adopting innovative pedagogical practices to cultivate a more engaging and impactful learning due to the limitation of the students’ interest and comprehension in reading.

Abstract

Kreativitas dalam pembelajaran seni merupakan kompetensi penting, namunkenyataannya tidak semua siswa memiliki tingkat kreativitas yang setara. Kondisi inimenuntut adanya variasi metode pembelajaran yang dapat mendorong siswa lebihbebas berekspresi dalam berkarya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahuipengaruh metode ekspresi bebas dalam membuat karya tiga dimensi dari barangbekas terhadap kreativitas siswa kelas IV SDN 44 Ampenan. Jenis penelitian iniadalah eksperimen dengan desain posttest-only control group. Populasi penelitianmencakup seluruh siswa kelas IV dengan dua kelompok: kelas eksperimen yangmenggunakan metode ekspresi bebas dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metodekonvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi keterlaksanaanpembelajaran serta tes kreativitas siswa. Metode ekspresi bebas diterapkan melaluitahapan pengenalan tema, kebebasan memilih media dan teknik, eksplorasi ide,proses kreatif, refleksi, penilaian, dan presentasi karya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanrata-rata nilai kreativitas siswa kelas eksperimen sebesar 82,37 lebih tinggidibandingkan kelas kontrol sebesar 75,97. Uji independent samples t-testmenghasilkan thitung (2,383) > ttabel (1,995) dengan sig. 0,020 ≤ 0,05. Dengandemikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode ekspresi bebas berpengaruh signifikanterhadap peningkatan kreativitas siswa dalam pembelajaran seni rupa karya tigadimensi.

Abstract

Nyeri punggung bawah, termasuk gangguan muskuloskeletal, dapat menyebabkan penurunan produktivitas dan kecacatan dalam bekerja. Faktor yang mempengaruhi keluhan nyeri punggung atau low back pain (LBP) antara lain masa kerja, faktor pekerjaan seperti  postur  dan desain tempat kerja, serta faktor pergerakan tubuh, gerakan yang berulang, penggunaan energi yang tidak efisien, beban kerja yang tinggi, jam kerja yang panjang, dan postur kerja yang tidak ergonomis menyebabkan peningkatan kejadian LBP. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang LBP agar bersifat preventif dan bermanfaat dalam mengurangi gejala LBP. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan membagikan leaflet yang berisi definisi, gejala, faktor dan saran penatalaksanaan fisioterapi yang dapat dilakukan secara mandiri oleh pekerja. Hasil evaluasi yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan pekerja meningkat dari 5% menjadi 100% setelah pemaparan materi dan sebelum melakukan pre  dan post test berupa pertanyaan sebagai bahan evaluasi pemahaman audiens. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan dukungan yang dilaksanakan telah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman  tentang nyeri pinggang. Pada pekerja di toko bangunan sumber lancer.

Abstract

Despite its significance particularly when it comes to writing competence, numerous studies have revealed that grammar is still considered complicated to grasp and used by students. The purpose of this study was to determine how video-based instruction affects students' understanding of grammar in writing assignments. This sequential explanatory mixed-method study aimed to investigate how students' grammatical skills especially in degree of comparison might be improved. Quantitative evaluations such as creating written test materials for the students and qualitative interviews with both teachers and students were employed. The findings showed that students' comprehension of grammatical rules for statistical tests had improved. Descriptive data evidenced that the students were clearly excited, enthralled, and actively involved with the tactics; served as a scaffold to lower obstacles; enhanced language learners' understanding; and increased students' vocabulary. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches evidenced the significance of implementing English videos to promote students’ grammatical competence in writing skills. The study's implications and suggestions are discussed.
