Abstract

ABSTRAKVibrio spp. adalah bakteri gram negatif yang biasa ditemukan di lingkungan estuari, pesisir, dan laut. Vibrio spp. merupakan patogen utama bagi kesehatan manusia dan organisme akuatik. Memahami kelimpahan Vibrio spp. sangat penting untuk dilakukan mengingat resiko terhadap kesehatan manusia, potensi kerusakan lingkungan serta ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi kelimpahan Vibrio spp. di perairan pesisir Kabupaten Halmahera Barat. Terdapat sembilan kawasan pengamatan, yaitu Toniku, Tewe, Dodinga, Tuada, Porniti, Payo, Bobo, Sahu, dan Ibu. Sampel air dari bagian permukaan perairan sebanyak 100 ml dimasukan ke dalam botol steril. Pengamatan kelimpahan Vibrio spp. dilakukan dengan metode total plate count (TPC) pada media agar thiosulfate citrate bile salt sucrose (TCBS) yang diinkubasi selama 24 jam pada suhu 28°C. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan Vibrio spp. pada perairan pesisir Kabupaten Halmahera Barat terdapat dalam 2 kelompok koloni, yaitu koloni hijau dengan kelimpahan 1,80 x 102 - 5,00 x 104 CFU/mL dan koloni kuning 2,20 x 103 - 3,08 x 105 CFU/mL. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah kelimpahan Vibrio spp. pada sembilan kawasan berkisar antara 102 - 105 CFU/mL.Kata kunci: Bakteri Vibrio spp., Koloni hijau, Koloni kuning, Total plate count.ABSTRACTVibrio spp. are gram-negative bacteria commonly found in estuary, coastal, and marine environments. Vibrio spp. are major pathogens to human health and aquatic organisms. Understanding the abundance of Vibrio spp. is very important given the risk to human health andpotential environmental and economic damage. This study explores the abundance of Vibrio spp. in the coastal waters of West Halmahera Regency. There were nine observation areas: namely Toniku, Tewe, Dodinga, Tuada, Porniti, Payo, Bobo, Sahu, and Ibu. Water samples from the surface waters, as much as 100 ml were put into sterile bottles. The abundance of Vibrio spp. was determined using the total plate count (TPC) method on thiosulfate citrate bile salt sucrose (TCBS) agar media, which were then incubated for 24 hours at 28°C. The results of this study revealed Vibrio spp. in coastal waters of West Halmahera Regency were found in 2 colony groups, namely green colonies with an abundance of 1.80 x 102 - 5.00 x 104 CFU/mL and yellow colonies 2.20 x 103 - 3.08 x 105 CFU/mL. The conclusion of this study is the abundance of Vibrio spp. in nine areas ranging from 102 - 105 CFU/mL.Keywords: Green colonies, Total plate count, Vibrio spp bacteria, Yellow colonies.

Abstract

Overdose can cause hypoglycemia, which is unresponsive to dextrose treatment alone. Octreotide, though not universally used, is an antidote for sulfonylurea overdose. We present a case report of a 62-year-old male who mistakenly consumed six tablets of sulfonylurea (Glibenclamide®), thinking they were loperamide for diarrhea. He developed dizziness, diaphoresis, vomiting, and unconsciousness. Physical examination revealed a GCS of 225, blood pressure of 188/79 mmHg, heart rate of 85 bpm, respiratory rate of 24/min, and oxygen saturation of 99%. Blood results showed RBS at 13 mg/dl, normal CBC, unremarkable blood gas analysis, hypokalemia at 2.87 mmol/l, and normal RFT and LFT. The patient was treated with bolus Dextrose 40%, maintenance Dextrose 10%, and hydrocortisone 100 mg, but blood sugar remained refractory for 1 hour despite increasing glucose infusion. After 5 hours without satisfactory results, we administered the first dose of octreotide (50 IU IV), resulting in a hypoglycemic interval lasting 2.5 hours. After a second dose of 50 IU octreotide, hypoglycemia was resolved. The patient was moved to the general ward and survived. In this case, octreotide extended the interval of hypoglycemia and reduced the need for dextrose. Using octreotide for conditions other than sulfonylurea overdose is not recommended.

Abstract

Sea turtles are one of the species essential for maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems, yet their populations have declined due to hunting, habitat destruction, and climate change. Sea turtle conservation is a crucial step in ensuring the sustainability of this species. This article discusses a community service activity involving the release of hatchlings as part of sea turtle conservation efforts at Maitara Village Tourism Beach, Tidore Islands City. The activity began with coordination among the village government, community leaders, and youth groups to plan and strategize implementation, involving all elements of the community. The release of hatchlings engaged students, tourists, and local residents, aiming to raise awareness and participation in sea turtle conservation. This activity not only provided hatchlings the opportunity to return to their natural habitat but also served as an educational platform to enhance public understanding of the importance of protecting sea turtles. Through a community-based approach, the program successfully strengthened collective commitment to coastal ecosystem conservation and opened opportunities for further development in support of natural resource conservation. The results of this activity demonstrate that collaboration among the community, academics, and government can have a significant positive impact on sea turtle conservation efforts.

Abstract

Aquaculture production activities have been experiencing a significant increase. Various economically valuable fish commodities have been developed, including Asian seabass, barramundi, and giant seaperch. Asian seabass farming offers advantages such as relatively fast growth, ease of maintenance, and high tolerance to environmental changes. However, the sustainability of Asian seabass farming faces challenges, including vibriosis infection. This disease can lead to economic losses due to mortality and has been reported in several Asian seabass-producing countries. This review discusses information on the causative agents of vibriosis, clinical symptoms, vibriosis control, and prevention through immunostimulants, prebiotics, and vaccination in Asian seabass. The primary causative agents of vibriosis in Asian seabass include Vibrio anguillarum, V. harveyi, and V. alginolyticus. Clinical symptoms include anorexia, darkening of body coloration, lesions around the anus and fin bases, scale loss and muscle degradation, hemorrhaging throughout the body, particularly at fin bases, ulcers on the operculum, kidney congestion, and liver necrosis. Infections caused by V. anguillarum, V. harveyi, and V. alginolyticus can be effectively managed using medicinal plants, probiotics, and vaccination, which have shown promising results in Asian seabass. Keywords: Lates calcarifer; Vibriosis; Vibrio alginolyticus; Vibrio anguillarum; Vibrio harveyi.   Abstrak Produksi kegiatan akuakultur terus mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Berbagai komoditas ikan bernilai ekonomi telah dikembangkan salah satunya ikan kakap putih yang juga dikenal sebagai Barramundi, Asian seabass dan Giant seaperch. Budidaya kakap putih memiliki keunggulan, yaitu pertumbuhannya yang relatif cepat, mudah dipelihara dan mempunyai toleransi yang tinggi terhadap perubahan lingkungan. Namun, keberlanjutan budidaya kakap putih tidak terlepas dari berbagai kendala, salah satunya serangan penyakit vibriosis. Penyakit ini dapat mengakibatkan kerugian ekonomi akibat kematian dan telah dilaporkan pada pada beberapa negara produsen kakap putih. Ulasan ini membahas informasi mengenai agen penyebab vibriosis, gejala klinis, pengendalian vibriosis, serta pencegahan melalui pemanfaatan imunostimulan, prebiotik dan vaksinasi pada kakap putih. Agen utama penyebab vibriosis pada kakap putih adalah Vibrio anguillarum, V. harveyi, dan V. alginolyticus. Gejala klinis yang ditimbulkan adalah anoreksia, perubahan warna tubuh menjadi lebih gelap, lesi di sekitar anus dan pangkal sirip, kerontokan pada sisik dan degradasi otot, hemoragi di seluruh tubuh terutama di pangkal sirip, dan ulserasi di bagian operkulum, serta kongesti pada ginjal dan nekrosis pada hati. Infeksi V. anguillarum, V. harveyi, dan V. alginolyticus dapat dikendalikan dengan pemanfaatan tanaman obat, probiotik dan vaksinasi yang telah terbukti pada ikan kakap putih. Abstract

Extension on Fish Cultivation in Buckets (Budikdamber) to groups of housewives aims to increase understanding, skills and independence in managing local resources to support family food security. This activity was carried out in Huangobotu Village, Dungingi District, Gorontalo City, using lecture, discussion and live demonstration methods. The material presented includes efficient fish cultivation techniques using buckets as a medium, as well as integration with plants as an integrated agricultural system. The results of the activity showed that participants had high enthusiasm in adopting this simple technology. In addition, they can manage fish and plant cultivation independently in the household environment, which can increase the fulfillment of family food needs. However, several challenges arise regarding water management and selecting appropriate fish feed. This program shows great potential in increasing food security, especially for housewives in urban areas with limited land. The long-term success of this program requires ongoing support in technical aspects and solving problems that arise during the implementation of Budikdamber. Through this program, it is hoped that a community will be created that is more independent in meeting the nutritional needs of the family, as well as playing a role in realizing family-based food security.

Abstract

Pelatihan penulisan jurnal ilmiah terindeks Sinta dan Scopus bagi mahasiswa Jurusan Budidaya Perairan Fakultas Kelautan dan Teknologi Perikanan Universitas Negeri Gorontalo bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa dalam menulis artikel ilmiah yang sesuai dengan standar publikasi internasional. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 70 mahasiswa dan dilaksanakan melalui video conference menggunakan platform Zoom Meeting. Materi pelatihan mencakup aspek teknis penulisan jurnal, seperti struktur artikel, penyusunan abstrak, tata cara pengelolaan referensi dengan Mendeley, serta proses submit dan review. Evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman yang signifikan pada setiap aspek penulisan jurnal ilmiah. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis jurnal ilmiah, mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk menulis artikel yang layak dipublikasikan di jurnal terindeks Sinta dan Scopus.

Abstract

Dialog Interaktif sebagai wadah komunikasi antara pemerintah Maluku Utara dengan masyarakat dalam rangka penyusunan RPJMD 2025-2029 berfungsi sebagai sarana efektif untuk menyerap aspirasi publik serta menyampaikan arah kebijakan pembangunan daerah. Proses dialog berlangsung secara langsung dan interaktif, memungkinkan masyarakat berpartisipasi aktif menyampaikan kebutuhan, harapan, dan kritik secara terbuka kepada pemangku kebijakan. Fokus utama pembahasan tertuju pada isu strategis seperti pengembangan infrastruktur, peningkatan kualitas pelayanan publik, pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal, serta pengelolaan sumber daya alam secara berkelanjutan. Interaksi dua arah yang berlangsung membantu mengurangi kesenjangan informasi antara pemerintah dan masyarakat sekaligus memperkuat transparansi serta akuntabilitas penyusunan RPJMD. Narasumber dari berbagai kalangan, termasuk pejabat pemerintah, akademisi, dan tokoh masyarakat, menyampaikan perspektif berbasis pengalaman dan data relevan, sehingga dialog menjadi lebih kaya dan aplikatif. Partisipasi luas dari berbagai lapisan masyarakat menandakan tingginya minat untuk terlibat dalam proses pembangunan daerah secara langsung. Hasil dialog ini memberikan masukan yang konkret dan konstruktif bagi pemerintah daerah guna merumuskan kebijakan pembangunan yang inklusif dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan masyarakat. Dialog Interaktif ini tidak hanya meningkatkan pemahaman publik tentang prioritas pembangunan, tetapi juga mendorong terciptanya hubungan yang harmonis antara pemerintah dan warga. Model komunikasi ini layak dijadikan contoh bagi daerah lain yang ingin memperkuat mekanisme partisipasi publik serta memastikan pembangunan yang berkelanjutan dan berbasis aspirasi nyata masyarakat.

Abstract

Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Pembangunan Perikanan Budidaya Berkelanjutan Berbasis Kawasan di Maluku Utara menjadi forum strategis untuk menghimpun aspirasi, pengetahuan, dan masukan dari para pemangku kepentingan sektor perikanan. Proses FGD berlangsung secara partisipatif dengan melibatkan pemerintah daerah, akademisi, pembudidaya ikan, pelaku usaha, dan masyarakat pesisir. Diskusi berfokus pada isu-isu kunci seperti peningkatan produktivitas budidaya, mitigasi dampak lingkungan, pengelolaan kualitas air, penanganan penyakit ikan, diversifikasi komoditas, serta penguatan kelembagaan pembudidaya. Pendekatan berbasis kawasan dipilih agar pengelolaan budidaya perikanan dapat dilakukan secara terpadu, mempertimbangkan daya dukung ekosistem, ketersediaan sumber daya, serta kesesuaian ruang. Hasil FGD merumuskan rekomendasi kebijakan konkret, termasuk perlunya penerapan teknologi ramah lingkungan, penguatan kapasitas SDM, pengembangan riset terapan, serta integrasi program pemerintah pusat dan daerah. Partisipasi aktif peserta memperkaya analisis dan memastikan rancangan kebijakan yang disusun selaras dengan kebutuhan lapangan. FGD ini tidak hanya menghasilkan dokumen rekomendasi, tetapi juga membangun sinergi lintas sektor untuk mendorong terciptanya sistem budidaya perikanan yang berkelanjutan, inklusif, serta memberikan manfaat ekonomi bagi masyarakat Maluku Utara.
