Abstract

Abstract

Hazardous and toxic waste management poses a global challenge that requires serious attention in environmental conservation efforts. This article discusses the introduction of hazardous waste to the community as a first step in reducing environmental impacts. Taking the example of Banyumas, Central Java, which is one of the largest waste processing areas in Southeast Asia, this article highlights the success of hazardous waste management in supporting conservation efforts. Based on various sources of literature, including research on waste management education, innovative waste management practices, and hazardous waste introduction programs in various countries, this article concludes that educating the public about hazardous waste is a crucial step in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Recommendations for community service programs are also provided, including diversifying educational materials, strengthening cooperation with relevant stakeholders, and ongoing evaluation to improve program effectiveness. It is hoped that through continuous and targeted efforts, communities can become more aware of the importance of hazardous waste management and actively contribute to environmental conservation for future generations.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen Qur’anic interpretive literacy and ethical awareness among tahfidz students in preventing bullying behavior and superiority complex tendencies in Islamic boarding school settings. The program was conducted at Asrama Tachfizhil Qur’an PP al-Ikhsan, Beji, Kedungbanteng, involving tahfidz students at junior and senior secondary school levels. Initial observations and interviews indicated that bullying occurred in both verbal and physical forms. Verbal bullying appeared more frequently through mockery, negative labeling, and degrading jokes. The method consisted of preparation through observation and interviews, the implementation of an anti-bullying seminar, and evaluationThe seminar was entitled “Becoming Righteous Santri without Bullying in Preventing Superiority Complex in Pesantren.” The evaluation results showed an increase in students’ understanding. The average pre-test score was 56.25 and increased to 86.75 in the post-test, with an improvement of 30.50 points. This improvement indicates that the anti-bullying seminar based on Qur’anic interpretive literacy helped students understand the forms of bullying, Qur’anic prohibitions against degrading others, the dangers of superiority complex, and the importance of building a safe, empathetic, and violence-free pesantren culture.

Abstract

The integration of digital technology has increasingly transformed language learning practices in higher education. However, empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of interactive learning platforms in Arabic language instruction remains limited. This study aimed to examine the impact of an interactive digital learning platform on university students’ Arabic language proficiency. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pre-test–post-test approach. A total of 40 undergraduate students enrolled in an Arabic language course at UIN Saifuddin Zuhri, Purwokerto participated in the study. Students’ language proficiency was measured through standardized tests assessing four language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test, and effect size (Cohen’s d). The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ Arabic language proficiency after the implementation of the interactive learning platform. The average scores increased across all four language skills, with the most substantial improvement observed in speaking ability. Statistical analysis indicated that the difference between pre-test and post-test scores was statistically significant (p < 0.01). Furthermore, the calculated effect sizes ranged from 1.18 to 1.56, indicating a strong practical impact of the learning intervention. These findings suggest that interactive digital platforms can effectively enhance students’ engagement and language learning outcomes. The study highlights the pedagogical potential of integrating Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) approaches into Arabic language instruction. The results provide important insights for educators and institutions seeking to improve the effectiveness of Arabic language learning in higher education.
